It was announced yesterday that Danny Havoc, who had worked all over the world but was best known in the United States for his work in CZW, passed away. A number of those in pro wrestling who worked with Havoc took to social media to remember him:
I lost my best friend. My big brother. I love ya man. pic.twitter.com/fkWiI1LK0f
— Bulldozer Matt Tremont (@TremontH2O) June 1, 2020
I’ve probably typed and deleted this post 10 times. I wasn’t even sure i wanted to post about this on social media bc you hated social media so much. I remember Grant walking into CZW , skinny with a huge Afro.… https://t.co/up3trkcl3D
— Chrissy (@_hellochrissy) June 1, 2020
I’m so sorry for Danny Havoc’s family, friends and fans.
— Kevin (@FightOwensFight) June 1, 2020
I didn’t know him well but all I’ve ever heard about him throughout the years painted him as a passionate, kind-hearted guy.
The pro wrestling community has lost yet another good one...
Take care of each other, guys. ??
I can't put it into words right now...I'm just too heartbroken and devestated. I love you Grant... I'm gonna miss you so much brother ????????????#RIPDannyHavoc pic.twitter.com/b3ZMv4cJM8
— Drake Wuertz (@WWEDrakeWuertz) June 1, 2020
Absolutely heartbroken.
— The DRAW (@TheSamiCallihan) June 1, 2020
I wouldn’t be who I am today without Danny Havoc.
Absolute genius who never got the credit he deserved.
Im beyond privileged to been able to travel the world with him.
Reach out to your loved one. Life is so short.
Love you Grant.

With a broken heart, the GCW family mourns the loss of Grant Berkland aka Danny Havoc.
— GameChangerWrestling (@GCWrestling_) June 1, 2020
Danny was an incredibly talented, intelligent, caring & genuine person.
He was also an elite performer that entertained a generation of fans & inspired a generation of aspiring performers. pic.twitter.com/L7By79UEKN
This cuts too deep. Grant "Danny Havoc" Berkland. He was an inspiration to so many and a friend to all and our hearts go out to his family and loved ones.
— CZW Combat Zone Wrestling (@combatzone) June 1, 2020
We can take a small comfort in knowing the entire wrestling community are sharing the same grief right now.#RIPDannyHavoc pic.twitter.com/2AbDxYRb6I
Danny Havoc was such a special person.
— brett lauderdale (@Lauderdale11) June 1, 2020
He lived w/ me for about 3 years, a time period which he would jokingly refer to as "the best of times... the worst of times" for a myriad of reasons.
I was lucky to call him a friend for close to 15 years. Here are some of my thoughts: pic.twitter.com/FHTm9e5fWB
Grant was super intelligent and talented. Not just like "talented", but really really talented. He could've thrived in any career he chose, but the only thing he wanted to be was a deathmatch wrestler.
— brett lauderdale (@Lauderdale11) June 1, 2020
He moved from Cylinder Iowa to New Jersey in 2004 to pursue his dream. pic.twitter.com/WEnuS4cHQt
As an artist, his creativity was immeasurable. He would randomly present me (and so many others) with drawings that displayed not just his skill, but also his unique sense of humor. He made this drawing to commemorate the inaugural Nick Gage Invitational in 2015. pic.twitter.com/M9T6ixhmbn
— brett lauderdale (@Lauderdale11) June 1, 2020
Grant was highly respected by his peers. He brought a level of credibility to any match or company he was involved with. When GCW was becoming a thing, we needed Danny Havoc because if he was willing to be a part of it, others would to, and the fans would follow. pic.twitter.com/nFdbXfHZiv
— brett lauderdale (@Lauderdale11) June 1, 2020
I was honored that Grant was willing to be part of GCW & even after injuries prevented him from competing, I tried hard to keep him engaged.
— brett lauderdale (@Lauderdale11) June 1, 2020
It took a lot of nagging, but I & some of his closest friends were able to drag him out of retirement in Feb to make 1 last trip to Japan. pic.twitter.com/5A3Znylqii
Looking back now, our trip to Japan serves as some form of closure.
— brett lauderdale (@Lauderdale11) June 1, 2020
Grant was in his element. He took great pride in his performances on all 3 nights & helped us sell out every show.
He was also thrilled to meet Matsunaga again, a man who he referred to many times as his hero. pic.twitter.com/USwzovchLA
Grant was also selfless and always advocated for his friends.
— brett lauderdale (@Lauderdale11) June 1, 2020
I don't know if they know this, but Grant told me he would only come to Japan if I brought Matt too. Matt was gonna be booked anyways, but I played along just to make sure he didn't add any other stipulations :) pic.twitter.com/RJTvjLi6E5
In one of his many thesis lengthed emails (he hated talking on the phone) he told me he'd come to Japan 1 more time, but only if he could tag w/ his friend Kevin (Lucky 13).
— brett lauderdale (@Lauderdale11) June 1, 2020
They won't get to team up, but I intend to honor Grant's wishes by bringing Lucky to Japan w/ GCW ASAP. pic.twitter.com/ICvIkHo8TL
Grant didn't just advocate though, he also inspired.
— brett lauderdale (@Lauderdale11) June 1, 2020
In the same way Grant's generation was inspired by guys like Zandig, Mondo & Wifebeater, "Danny Havoc" served as inspiration for a whole generation that would follow.
Ask around... Danny Havoc's reach is worldwide. pic.twitter.com/GuYyuhDStr
Grant was not in a great place over the last few years. Like all of us, he dealt with challenges on a daily basis that affected his outlook on life.
— brett lauderdale (@Lauderdale11) June 1, 2020
One thing that never changed however was his love & devotion to his wife, Brianne. He cherished her and spoke about her w/ pride. pic.twitter.com/hb84uXEE2b
Brianne sadly passed away unexpectedly on April 4th of this year.
— brett lauderdale (@Lauderdale11) June 1, 2020
Grant was heartbroken and grieved her loss every day since. He was overwhelmed with sorrow, and despite the best efforts of his friends and family, he was inconsolable. He loved her so much. pic.twitter.com/GfIxLY4CFC
Losing Grant hurts alot, for alot of us. Luckily, we all have so many special memories and moments to look back on.
— brett lauderdale (@Lauderdale11) June 1, 2020
I'll reminisce about our competitively long winded email exchanges where he would take joy in mixing in (not so) subtle jabs with his own brand of eloquence. pic.twitter.com/ZcBfJRg79D
I'll reminisce about the road trips we took many years ago when I was more of a nuisance than a necessity. He always tolerated & treated me w/ respect.
— brett lauderdale (@Lauderdale11) June 1, 2020
I'll reminisce about "Tom Draggi", his hospital room alias that he used on many occasions after a rough night in the office. pic.twitter.com/0PDRmqcy5V
Most of all though, I'll remember Grant's spirit.
— brett lauderdale (@Lauderdale11) June 1, 2020
He was an underdog, but he was undeniable. He took a beating, but he always got up and came back for more.
He fought and fought and fought till he got where he wanted to be.
He was a man of principle, and a man of his word. pic.twitter.com/JJotJgbIj9
He was a good person and a great friend.
— brett lauderdale (@Lauderdale11) June 1, 2020
Thanks for everything, Grant.
I will miss you.
We all will.
See ya on the other side ? pic.twitter.com/JmYu2Gz3uf
The loss of Danny Havoc is utterly tragic. Passionate about his wrestling, passionate about his art, and gone far - FAR - too soon. I loved his sly sense of humor, and he had a unique perspective to add to every conversation. Danny Havoc was a guy we all looked forward to seeing.
— Mike Quackenbush (@MikeQuackenbush) June 1, 2020
Ya know how they say “the death match guys” are often the nicest and most intelligent? Danny Havoc is probably the reason they say that.
— Bryce Remsburg (@dabryceisright) June 1, 2020
My heart aches for his friends and family. https://t.co/30ayUGJZGe
Damn... #RIP Danny Havoc

— Ethan Page played by Julian (@OfficialEGO) June 1, 2020
Danny Havoc and I travelled the world together. I was his 1st opponent in Germany, he was my 1st opponent in CZW. We were blood brothers.
— Alexander Bedranowsky (@ThumbtackJack) June 1, 2020
Grant Berkland was a good soul. He helped me with my depression after breaking my spine. I wish I could've returned that favor, old friend.
I want to say so much but don't know how. Danny Havoc was a favorite for me as a fan turned a true friend. I'm so happy I saved all these ridiculous drawings he'd send me out of nowhere. Sorry I never got that head tattoo, Danny. Love you. pic.twitter.com/vmHLtIAJvU

My heart is broken right now. My dear friend/subject of this unofficial official account, Grant 'Danny Havoc' Berkland has died.

Setting up this Twitter and his website was a hilarious challenge for us and I will cherish those memories.
I love you, my friend. #RIPDannyHavoc
One of our founding fathers along w/ Matt Tremont. Danny Havoc was very influential helping come up w/ the concept, name and original H20 logo below. He was our 'Vice Chancellor' aswell. I shared a locker room a few times w/ Danny Havoc but didn’t know him on a personal level. Reading all the wonderful stories/memories from his friends makes it clear that the we lost someone special.

...I cant express into words the man u truly were. I cant explain to years from now who grant was when they ask about danny havoc. Today time stood still and forever it will for me. A piece of me is lost. U were a brother to me not like the wrestling term but an actual brother...
— alex colon (@alexcolon0139) June 1, 2020
Danny Havoc was without a doubt one of the wittiest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. Equally as intelligent & kind. He went out of his way to make me feel welcome during my first few tours of America. A real gentleman. RIP Grant. https://t.co/IpP3brJgvc
— ZSJ. ? (@zacksabrejr) June 1, 2020
I'm at a complete loss for words on the passing of Danny Havoc. I'll write something more just in the next few days but in the meantime I just want to express that Danny was one of my favorite people I ever met in life. The smartest, kindest wrestler in the world.
— Tim Donst (@tdonst) June 1, 2020
When I started doing ring crew for CZW, it always felt like Danny Havoc would go out of his way to be nicer to us than he ever needed to be. An absolute joy and a brilliant human being ????
— YUTA (@WheelerYuta) June 1, 2020
Came close to wresting Danny once. Many years ago, I was booked for a death match tournament. It was scheduled to end with Me vs Danny. He approached me excited months in advance that we were doing it. Didn’t happen though. Wish it did.
— Ophidian of the Poison Clan (@OphidianCobra) June 1, 2020
RIP Danny Havoc
Not a lot of people know this but Chandler Biggins hired Danny Havoc to hand draw this DVD cover/show poster as he was a big fan of his art, here is another version he submitted as well as his rough drafts. #RIPDannyHavoc pic.twitter.com/CjBCG6OkOe

RIP Danny Havoc.
— ???? ??????? • ????????? (@WillOspreay) June 1, 2020
I will write more when I'm less emotional but I always described Danny Havoc as the shining example that a "deathmatch" wrestler can still be the most intelligent, well spoken human being on the planet. Here is an example.https://t.co/A8hyRb1XmN
— Tim Donst (@tdonst) June 1, 2020
I love you, & will never forget you Grant!!
