SHAMROCK TRAPPED, MIKE JACKSON DEBUTS, KYLIE GETS MAD, TAYA VS. TENILLE, REBELLION NEXT WEEK & MORE: COMPLETE IMPACT WRESTLING ON AXS TV REPORT

By Mike Johnson on 2020-04-14 22:13:00

This week's edition of Impact Wrestling on AXS opened with a look back at last week's episode.

We are live on tape in Atlanta, GA at the Coca-Cola Roxy!

Johnny Swinger came to the ring.  Josh Mathews and Madison Rayne welcome everyone to this week's show.  Swinger said that he pulled it off.  Everyone is talking about all these Young Bucks and he's got a young buck tonight.  He said he has pulled it off and introduces M Jackson.

It's former NWA Alabama Junior Heavyweight Champion Mike Jackson.  OK, this is awesome!

Jackson took the mic and said that he loves Impact Wrestling and he's seen what Swinger is doing but he doesn't like Swinger trying to exploit all the younger guys in the locker room.  He can't believe Swinger expects people to carry his bag and get his coffee and drive Swinger's car.  He said he's not a young buck.  He's a 70 year old buck and he's here to give him an old fashioned butt kicking.

Swinger vs. Mike Jackson

Swinger nailed a cheap shot before the bell but it didn't take long for Jackson to completely outwrestle Swinger and score a two count.  Anyone who has seen Jackson at the annual conventions in Charlotte knows he can still go, but I can only imagine what people at home are thinking.  Jackson reversed a tilt-o-whirl backbreaker attempt into a head scissors takedown, sending Swinger to the floor.  Jackson nailed a tope to Swinger.  He brought him back in the ring and took Swinger down, scoring another two count.

Swinger missed a charge into the corner.  Jackson worked over his arm and nailed a single-arm DDT.  Jackson walked the ropes all the way around the ring before coming off with an elbow.  Swinger nailed an atomic drop and a legsweep to regain control.  Swinger sent him into the corner and nailed a suplex for a two count.  The crowd chanted, "Let's go Grandpa!"

They noted Rebellion would begin next week.

Swinger continued working over Jackson, sending him into the ropes and nailed an elbow.  Jackson nailed him with a shot to the breadbasket as Swinger came off the ropes.  Jackson nailed a nice neckbreaker.     Jackson pulled down the singlet and rained down with punches in the corner.  Jackson got down and approached Swinger, but was taken down and Swinger pinned him with his legs on the ropes.

Your winner, Johnny Swinger!

This was exactly what it should have been.  Jackson is awesome and made a good foil for Swinger here.

By the way, Josh Mathews and Madison Rayne were great here with Rayne ribbing Mathews and asking him about the time he lost a reality show and never wrestled again.  That was a great line.

X-Division Champion Ace Austin is backstage.

Willie Mack likes his odds when he challenges Austin.  Rich Swann said he likes Mack's odds.  People call Austin a scumbag and trash, but Mack is the one who's letting Swann wither away at home with one leg.  He asks what happened to Mack's Tag Team Title aspirations.  Austin said that Mack is the piece of garbage that everyone else claims Ace is.  Trey Miguel showed up and said Ace was the biggest jerk in the locker room and he knows the games Austin is trying to place, because it's the same games he played with Trey and his mom.  Austin asked him how his mom was and Miguel decked him.  They started brawling as they went to commercial.

When we returned, we saw footage "from the break" with Swinger returning to the locker room after his win over Mike Jackson.  They then showed Jackson return to the locker room with tons of stars, including D'Lo Brown, Moose and Tommy Dreamer showing him respect.  This was really, really great.  I sincerely hope to hell we get to see Jackson some more in Impact.

Ken Shamrock is walking through a metal detector and it goes off.  He's told he's good.  Scott D'Amore reminds him there will be no physical contact tonight and that it's just a contract signing tonight.  He reminds the UFC Hall of Famer that he gave his word.  Shamrock said he understands but D'Amore should control his boy.  D'Amore, playing Paul Heyman I guess, tells someone on the headset that Shamrock is in the house and "This will go great."  Oh, I'm sure!

They plug the Rebellion contract signing for later tonight.

Hernandez vs. Rohit Raju, Trey Miguel vs. Ace Austin and Tenille Dashwood vs. Taya are set for tonight.

The Rascalz vs. XXXL vs. Reno Scum vs. TJP & Fallahh Bah

Acey Romero and Larry D controlled Adam of Reno Scum early. Wentz tagged in but was overwhelmed and beaten down by Reno Scum.  Wentz was suplex over as they went to commercial.

The beating continued in Scum's corner as Impact returned to air.    Wentz fired back with some strikes but Adam cut him off before he could make a tag.  He scored a two count with a standing moonsault press.   Luster slammed Wentz and Reno Scum paid tribute to The Nasty Boys with the Pitstop!  Eeew!  Wentz finally fought his way out with a big knee strike.

Dez tagged in and nailed a ton of fast paced, crisp action.  The Rascalz double-teamed Adam but Luster hit the ring to make the save.  Adam nailed a stiff dropkick.  TJP tags himself in and nailed a big tornado DDT.  Wentz nailed a springboard cutter.  Bah nailed a belly to bell suplex.  Dez nailed Bah.  Luster nailed a spinebuster.  Larry D and Acey Romero wiped out Luster.  Romero nailed a big splash.  Larry and Acey hit stereo dives to the outside.  Time stood still for a moment before the spot.

Reno Scu, worked over TJP but he escaped a Doomsdasy Device.  Bah hit the ring to assist his partner.  TJP nailed a splash off the top on Adam for the pin.

Your winners, TJP & Fallahh Bah!

Impact Tag Team Champions The North hit the ring and faced off with Bah and Perkins.

The Impact+ Moment of the Week was Gail Kim vs. Tessa Blanchard at Rebellion 2019.

Backstage, Rohit Raju told Gama Singh that he needed the win in the Four Way at Rebellion and he doesn't need to be in the ring with a muscle-head nimrod like Hernandez.  Singh said he is the leader and knows what is best for him.  Raju questioned him, so Singh slapped him and told him to think about the team and not be so selfish.  Looks like we are getting a Raju babyface turn.  He's extremely underrated and deserves a push, so that could be good.

They aired a video recap on The Deaners beating Joey Ryan last week.  It was halted abruptly.  Ryan was in the production truck yelling at Ron Buffone and made them play another video.  It was a #CancelCulture message from Rob Van Dam and Katie Forbes in a hot tub.  They have been practicing social distance from the fans and The Deaners.  They go at it hot and heavy.  OKaaaay.

Gama Singh introduced Rohit Raju.

Rohit Raju vs. Hernandez

Raju attacked Hernandez at the bell.  The storyline is that Raju wanted to focus on his Rebellion bout but was forced into this match by Singh.

Hernandez was in control but was kicked as he went for a charge in the corner.  Raju dove off the ropes but was caught and almost slammed.  Raju escaped and went for a sunset flip but Hernandez blocked it and pulled him up.  Hernandez nailed a Pounce and nailed a Border Toss for the pin.

Your winner, Hernandez!

Short but fine for the story they were telling.

They went to Locker Room Talk with Madison Rayne, accompanied by Johnny Swinger.  She had to wake him up.  She praised him for his win against Mike Jackson, but asked if he should have had to fight so hard against him.  Their guest was Kylie Rae.  Rae avoided a hug from Swinger.  She was really happy to be here.  Rayne said she was "mildly happy" to have Rae with them.  That was funny.  Swinger was creeping on her, which was weirdly entertaining.  Rae was really excited to face Kiera Hogan in her "PPV debut."  Madison tried to stir the pot and find out what she really thought.  Rae said that she thought Kiera was awesome, like the rest of the Knockouts.  Madison said that she's sort of mean, right?  Rae almost admitted she wasn't nice but then corrected herself and said that Hogan was nice.  They brought Kiera Hogan in.  Hogan said that Rae should be excited about this match because she's going to show the world that no one has any friends in this division.  She said she was going to wipe the smile off her face.  Rae yelled at her to stop.  She said Hogan pushed her too far.  She said, "You aren't very nice" and stormed off.  Rayne told Hogan that she told Kiera.  Kiera told her to shut up and left as well.

They go to footage of Eddie Edwards vs. Michael Elgin competing in Qatar.

X-Division Champion Ace Austin vs. Trey Miguel

Lots of really nice athletic wrestling early on.  Trey took him down and ran Austin out of the ring.  Miguel went for a dive but Austin ducked it.  Trey held onto the ropes, then turned it into a rana on the floor.  They battled on the floor.  Austin caught Trey on his shoulders and dropped him, face-first onto the apron outside.  Back in the ring, Austin used a suplex into a knee strike variation for a two count.  Austin worked over his kidneys with punches to their back.  Josh and Madison bantered on commentary about Josh liking Rae coming to work with a smile on her face.  Madison reminded Josh that she has been carrying him for weeks.

Austin nailed a series of suplexes and tried to wear Trey down with a double-arm submission.   Trey fired his way out but was caught with a series of knees.  Trey caught him with a surprise neckbreaker.  He missed a charge in the corner but nailed an elbow and sent Austin into the corner.  He drilled Austin with a kick to the face and ascended to the top for a great looking missile dropkick.  Trey missed a Disaster Kick and was caught with a springboard kick.    Austin went for the Fold but missed. Trey trapped him in the corner and nailed a superkick to the face, then nailed a 619.  Trey went to the top but missed a double stomp.

Austin avoided another double stomp then rolled up Trey and hooked the tights for the pin.

Your winner, Ace Austin!

They announced Austin vs. Willie Mack for next week.

Willie Mack was backstage.  He said Trey couldn't get to him, so he had to go after his brother Rich Swann, a man resting at home.  He said it's not about the X-Division Championship next week.  He's going to beat the hell out of Ace and show him what respect and beatings are.

Taya vs. Tenille Dashwood with John E. Bravo

They went right at it, battling with fists.  Dashwood nailed a rotation into a legsweep, then snapped Taya against the ropes.  Taya retreated to the floor. Tenille nailed a Thesz Press to the floor.

The announcers noted there may be some new Knockouts debuting in the weeks to come.

Dashwood went back to the top but Bravo tripped her and she crotched herself on the ropes.  Taya beat her down with punches to the back and executed a superplex for a two count as they went to commercial.

When they returned, Taya was choking Tenille against the ropes, then distracted the referee as Bravo did the same.  Taya nailed several clotheslines in the corner, followed by a running hip attack.  She followed up with a running double knee strike in the corner, scoring a two count.

Taya locked on a Maple Leaf but Dashwood fought to the ropes.  Dashwood was pulled back to the other side of the ring until she rolled Taya into a pinning combination for a two count.  Taya nailed a big knee and stepped over her, working over the Australian star.

Dashwood fired back and made a comeback, including a big splash in the corner for a two count.   Dashwood nailed a double underhook suplex for another two count.  Dashwood set up and went for a running boot but Taya avoided and went for a waistlock.  Taya rebounded off the ropes with a spear for another near fall as they went to commercial.

When they returned, Dashwood kicked away at Taya but was cut off.  Taya nailed the Road to Valhalla but Dashwood grabbed the bottom rope at the last second.

Taya tried to bring a chair into the ring but referee Mike Posey took the chair from her.  She argued with him, allowing Dashwood to score the pin with a sunset flip.

Your winner, Tenille Dashwood!

Taya nailed her with the chair after the match, beating her in the mid-section and across the back.  Bravo tossed her a trash can and she nailed Dashwood over the head with it.  Taya piled chairs over Dashwood's prone body.  Taya beat her over and over with a trash can lid as Josh wondered if anyone was going to come out and help her.  Taya kept throwing chairs at Dashwood with the idea that she had completely lost it because she lost the match.  Bravo tried to calm her but was shoved down.

Taya was about come off the ropes but Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace hit the ring with a Singapore Cane and worked Taya over, then broke the cane over Bravo.  Grace checked on Dashwood.

Tommy Dreamer and Rhino did a promo backstage.  Dreamer said next week live in NYC, they are taking OVE.  He's been set on fire and he's been speared out of his boots by Rhino.  Rhino said he was going to gore them in half.  Well, not in NYC, you won't!

They aired a video feature on Sami Callihan hacking Impact, leading to the fireball attack on Ken Shamrock.

CONTRACT SIGNING

Ken Shamrock came to the ring and sat down at the table.  Sami was out second.

Callihan sat down at the table.  He said he knows Shamrock wants to attack him, but he can't and there's nothing he can do about it.  HGe said that if Ken does that,. he's not going to get what he wants the most, a match with Callihan.

Callihan said that with all accolades Shamrock has won over his career, this is the most important match ever.  Ken isn't stupid.  He knows that this match is going to give him more buzz than he's ever had in his entire career, just by stepping into the ring with Sami..  He asked Ken what he has to say for himself.  Shamrock just stared at him,  Sami said Shamrock knows Sami makes stars, makes buzz and creates ratings.  He said hitting Eddie Edwards in the face with a baseball bat is the best thing to ever happen to him and now he's having the best run of his career.  He said Ken knows it and Ken should be thanking him.

Callihan said that he sees online that Ken has been spending more time with his family.  That pissed off Ken.  Sami warned him to stay where he was, or with the push of the button, bad things happen.  He told Ken to stand there like the World's Most Dangerous b**ch.  Ken flipped the table over and the lights went out.  When they returned, Sami was gone.  Everything went to black.    The lights kept going on and off and when they came on, there were figures wearing hoodies and masks with Callihan's logo over their faces.  There was finally one left on the stage and he walked off.  Shamrock pursued him backstage.  He followed the figure to the outside, despite Scott D'Amore's protests.   The person pulled out in a car.  Shamrock jumped into another car and told them to follow.  His phone rang it was Sami.  He told Ken not to forget to tip his driver, who was one of the followers.  Ken reached for him but the follower was gone.

Ken realized the car he was in was surrounded by the followers and off the air they went....

CLIFFHANGER.
