By Mike Johnson on 2020-04-13 17:43:00

During a press conference today about the coronavirus pandemic,  Jerry Demings, The Mayor of Orange County, Florida was asked about WWE continuing to produce television.

Demings stated that after conversations with the office of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, WWE was deemed an essential business.   They were not originally deemed essential but received that designation after Orange County spoke with the Governor's office.

Therefore, WWE have free reign to continue to produce content at the WWE Performance Center.

When asked by ESPN over the weekend about the company's decision to resume live broadcasts with tonight's Raw, WWE issued the following statement: "We believe it is now more important than ever to provide people with a diversion from these hard times. We are producing content on a closed set with only essential personnel in attendance following appropriate guidelines while taking additional precautions to ensure the health and wellness of our performers and staff. "As a brand that has been woven into the fabric of society, WWE and its Superstars bring families together and deliver a sense of hope, determination and perseverance."
