No matter what the outcome of this season is, these three Manchester United players are the top contenders for Player of the Year. We are extremely excited to discuss our favorites on the Manchester United squad for this award. We are going to highlight the three players in this article and discuss their current play. We are also going to discuss their career as a whole.

Whether or not the Premier League moves forward this year is clearly out of Manchester United's hands. However, fans are still interested in who might win the Sir Matt Busby Award as the Player of the Year. This season has been a tough one for the United Squad, however, there still have been some stellar performances. Fans are undoubtedly eager to cast their votes. Fans are also keeping an eye on when match play is set to begin again, whether during this campaign or next. Of course, die-hard Manchester United fans are placing bets on future matches, no matter when they take place.

Now, without further ado, let's get into our Player of the Year favorites:

1. Fred

Manchester United supporters know that Fred has had a rough go of late. He missed the entire summer tour last season along with the first month of the current season. Fred did not look to justify his £52 million salary. However, things have changed drastically this year.

Frederico Rodrigues de Paula Santos, also known as "Fred", was born on March 5th, 1993. He hails from Brazil and also plays for the Brazilian national team. He began his career with the Brazilian squad called Internacional. As a member of the Internacional squad, he won the prestigious Campeonato Gaúcho award two times. His career really began to take off when he won 10 trophies for the Ukrainian Premier League team called Shakhtar Donetsk. He signed with the Ukrainian squad in June of 2013.

For the 2015 Copa América in Chile, Fred played for the Brazilian national team. The squad reached the quarterfinals and Fred became a starter in their last two Group C matches. He then went on to become a member of the phenomenal 23-man Brazilian squad that competed for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

As everyone knows, Fred became a member of the Manchester United team in 2018. As mentioned above, things began unfavorably for fans and for Fred himself. He has turned things around to be a candidate for Player of the Year.

Fred has benefited from the mentorship of Solskjaer and is now a bonafide star at central midfield. He also has become a favorite among Manchester United Fans. He is clearly the centerpiece of the United squad this year.

2. Marcus Rashford

Marcus Rashford is a spectacular forward. Although he suffered a back injury, he still has been a very integral part of Manchester United. The team is now a true scoring threat under Solskjaer.  Manchester United has scored four or more goals seven times during this campaign. In the previous 24 games under Mourinho, they only did that one time.

It has been an extremely long time since a forward has been a legitimate contender to win the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award. The last forward to win the award was, of course, Robin van Persie in 2012-2013. Marcus Rashford has changed things significantly.

Marcus Rashford was born on October 31st, 1997. He has been a loyal Manchester United team member since he was 7-years-old. In 2016, he scored two goals in his first match on the first-team for the UEFA Europa League against Midtjylland. He accomplished the same feat in his much-anticipated Premier League debut three days later against a talented Arsenal squad.

He has won the EFL Cup, the UEFA Europa League, the FA Community Shield, and the FA Cup as a member of Manchester United. In May of 2016, Marcus Rashford scored for England and astonishingly enough became the youngest English player in history to score in his debut senior international contest. Additionally, he was the youngest player to play in the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the UEFA Euro 2016.

Rashford, despite his injury, still has 19 goals this season and has been one of Manchester United's best.

3. Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is an aggressive fan-favorite with exceptional tackling skills for Manchester United. He is a fan favorite not because of a mind-blowing stat-line, but because of the way he plays. He is second in the Premier League in tackling this year, only trailing Leicester's Ricardo Pereira. He only has two assists this season, however, he makes up for it in other ways.

Wan-Bissaka was born on November 26th, 1997. He began his football career playing for Crystal Palace. He was named the "Player of the Year" for Crystal Palace during the 2018-2019 campaign, which is extremely impressive. He played for DR Congo U20s in 2015, being of Congolese descent. Aaron Wan-Bissaka was born in England, however and also competed for the under-20 and under-21 England national team.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been extraordinary in 50-50 duels this season. At age 22, he is a bonafide contender to win the Player of the Year award for Manchester United this year. It has been an extremely long time since United had a solid presence at right-back. In fact, you would have to go as far back as Gary Neville to find one. Fans absolutely love when Wan-Bissaka bests Raheem Sterling.
