The official trailer for WWE Studios' The Main Event was released this morning in advance of its 4/10 debut on Netflix:

As PWInsider.com exclusively broke back in February 2019, WWE Studios had been working develop new, original feature films in conjunction with Netflix, with plans to release them via the streaming service.   The Main Event is the first of those projects.

Aimed at family audiences, The Main Event tells the story of a ten-year old boy who is bullied but dreams of growing up to become a WWE professional wrestler.   However, he gets to live his dream earlier when he discovers the secret to having super-strength in a magical lucha mask he buys at an estate sale and becomes Kid Chaos.

The film stars Seth Carr (Black Panther), Tichina Arnold (The Neighborhood, Everybody Hates Chris), Ken Marino (The Other Two, Black Monday, Bad Milo), and Adam Pally (Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life, The Mindy Project).

There will be a number of WWE talents in the film, including Keith Lee, Babatunde, The Miz, Otis, Kofi Kingston, Sheamus, Mia Yim, Corey Graves and Renee Young.  We are told that Keith Lee has a very big role and really shines in the film and will probably come out of it with some really nice reviews.  The original version featured a John Cena cameo as well as a scene with Bray Wyatt but as the screenplay was re-written, those elements/scenes were dropped.

Peter Hoare, who wrote WWE Studios' Celebrity Death Pool, is listed as having written the screenplay.

The film shot last summer in Vancouver, British Columbia.
