A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to assist longtime Northeastern independent wrestling referee James Forsyth, who has worked for EVOLVE, Big Time Wrestling, FTW and many other promotions after he was diagnosed with cancer several weeks ago and underwent surgery that may leave him unable to use his arm going forward.
The campaign's page notes, "This year, with your help, James is going to add cancer survivor to his long list of accomplishments. Recently, he was diagnosed with Chondrosarcoma, which is a rare form of cancer that impacts the bones and surrounding tissues. Since this type of cancer does not typically respond to radiation or chemotherapy, next week James will undergo surgery to remove a tumor from his shoulder. The procedure will require doctors to perform extensive reconstructive surgery with the hope that he will one day regain the use of his arm. Once complete, his journey to recovery will continue with a visit to the specialists at Sloan Kettering, who will conduct tests to rule out additional tumors in his chest. "
What the campaign page does not mention is that Forsyth was recently married and the couple have their first child on the way.
James' trainer Bryan Idol noted the situation, "…breaks my heart. The guy was in the freezing rain a few weeks back with one arm in a sling lifting and moving wrestling rings with me telling me “somethings wrong with my shoulder, don’t worry I’m fine.” He’s is one of my all-time favorite students and is one of the most dedicated people of all time to Fight The World Wrestling over the last eight years and he’s reffed for EVOLVE and so many others. He has always been down for the cause and is the definition of respect and loyalty.”
