SMACKDOWN FROM THE PC, WHY WWE CAN'T JUST RUN MSG IN FRONT OF A REDUCED NUMBER OF FANS, WHAT HAPPENS IF MANIA IS CANCELED OR POSTPONED AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2020-03-14 10:00:00

Is it me or was the Smackdown episode from the PC the worst thing ever?  Wrestlers talking as if they are in a bad play and reacting to fans who aren't there?  Triple H burying everyone?  Is this the future because if it is, it's really sh**y!

It was nowhere near the worst thing ever.  WWE took a horrible situation and still did their best to try and create some original programming to give people something to distract themselves and enjoy.  Was it a weird, surreal broadcast?  Absolutey, but to use your terminology, knocking them when they are in situation and still had staff and talents travel across the country to perform for you, is honestly, pretty sh**y sir.  We are in the middle of a pandemic the likes of which has never been seen in any of our lifetimes, so the fact WWE is even producing live TV is pretty impressive.

Can't WWE still run Madison Square Garden but just only let the first 500 people who purchased tickets in?

NO.  The 500 number would need to include staff and performers for both MSG itself and WWE.  There is no way to run, especially since the Garden has already said they are shut down and not reopening until the City halts its State of Emergency.  There are things more important than wrestling, it's not going to happen.

What could WWE do if Wrestlemania is canceled?

As Dave suggested, they could do the matches on Raw, NXT and Smackdown.  I'd rather see them push it back to early June to be honest.  My gut is that if they did they, they might lose John Cena to a Hollywood project but WWE could easily keep their storylines going a 6-8 more weeks.  If major movie studios are pushing huge franchises back, WWE can run another few weeks of TV storylines to build Wrestlemania and if we are all lucky, things will be in a better place for the world and travel restrictions for European fans can be eased.  Everyone can have their Wrestlemania.  They just shouldn't have it on 4/5.

What was the reason for broadcasting a match from the recent Elmination Chamber PPV? Did they have trouble transporting the talent from Detroit to Orlando?  Will this Monday's RAW feature all new matches or will WWE be recycling stuff from PPVs on that show as well? If you don't  know that is OK...but it seemed weird to me.

My guess is they wanted to give viewers something unique to watch plus playing a 20-30 minute marquee bout allowed them to eat up some of the TV time they had to fill.  I am going to guess that whatever was scheduled for Raw has been thrown out the window and anything is possible.
