OFFICIAL WWE STATEMENT ON THIS FRIDAY'S SMACKDOWN BROADCAST

By Mike Johnson on 2020-03-12 16:43:00

WWE issued the following statement to PWInsider.com in response to our reports over the last 24 hours that Friday Night Smackdown would be broadcast from the WWE Performance Center:

“Friday Night SmackDown on March 13 will air live as regularly scheduled and emanate from WWE’s training facility in Orlando, Florida with only essential personnel in attendance. The event was originally scheduled in Detroit, Michigan.”

PWInsider.com has also learned that the current plan is to broadcast the show without fans in attendance, although that could change.

There are WWE talents and staff heading to Detroit currently and some who are already in Michigan.  WWE will have to scramble to get them to Florida.

There is no word yet what will happen to this Monday's Raw taping in Pittsburgh or the live events slated for this weekend.  We are told anything is possible at this point as WWE scrambles to deal with the ramifications of the coronavirus outbreak.
