CODY TALKS AEW, STAR WARS VS. STAR TREK, WHETHER DUSTY RHODES WOULD HAVE COME TO AEW & MORE: AEW UNRESTRICTED PODCAST RECAP

The second edition of "AEW Unrestricted" is now available.

After an introduction by Aubrey Edwards and Tony Schiavone, we hear that our guest is Executive Vice President Of Talent Cody Rhodes.  Cody discusses how Wednesdays are fun to come to every week.  Tony discusses how he used to dread Mondays when he was working with WCW in the years 1999 and 2000.  This leads to the conversation regarding many in the locker room having a shot contest with a water bottle in a trashcan entertaining everyone.  Tony says that's due to the locker room culture and everybody having fun.  Schiavone asks what he looks for in talent.  In regard to bringing them into the locker room.  Cody says that he wants somebody that's willing to do and learn everything.  He doesn't think there is a lazy person in the back.  Tony asks about the importance of Chicago and his first conversations with Tony Khan.  Rhodes says that Chicago is important because it was the home that proved that something else could exist.  As for Khan, Cody talks about his energy. 

Aubrey asks how Cody deals with being a Star Trek fan and a Star Wars fan.  He says Star Wars is for everyone and Star Trek is for smart people.  He says he does his best to watch one series getting it out of the system and then watching the other.  He talks about "The Child" being $5 million in cost to make for the Disney + series The Mandalorian.  He also talks about "Star Trek Picard" and Seven Of Nine, as well as Capt. Janeway.  Cody thinks that when wrestling compares itself to the wrestling it doesn't compare then when it compares itself to other forms of entertainment.  Rhodes talks about learning from his father. The American Dream and acting Coach Howard Fine.  Cody calls fine the best wrestling coach ever, but he had to get away him from because he was too expensive.

Cody discusses wrestling Chris Jericho at Full Gear and finding himself in his promos.  Tony discusses the first night of Dynamite and embracing Cody seeing The American Nightmare tear up at the embrace.  Cody talks about the importance of facing Sammy Guevara in the opening match being important to him that the feature the young talent.  He talks about the criticism that the company should have one vision, he talks about all the EVP's different areas of expertise and what they bring creatively.  He enjoys the variety.  Tony talks about the Bash at the Beach event which is when the recording podcast.  Rhodes discusses how trademark law is really simple.  He talks about WWE being great custodians of history, but he wanted to bring back some of the events that were not getting used again.  He states a lot of these he's never going to make money on, but they are important to him.  He talks about wanting to have an event named after Slamboree at some point.  But he doesn't know if that's going to happen.  They have a lot of trademarks though.

Tony asks about Arn Anderson being the head coach for Cody.  Rhodes says that Arn was a voice in developmental, that will tell you what you're doing wrong.  He also says he could hire 30 writers but there's only one Anderson.  They discuss Starrcade and the history of the battle between Jim Crockett Promotions and WWE being the kickstart of the pay-per-view industry back in the day.  Rhodes discusses how his father loved to mold new talent and fix broken toys, so to say.  Aubrey asks would be in AEW if he was alive today.  Cody says he was one day week at the Performance Center and he isn't sure if he would've come to AEW.  But he remembers from the advice is that gave them.  But there is a Turner connection.  So he isn't really sure.  He talks about The Double or Nothing match with Dustin and said, there was massive amounts of trust.  And the match with Dustin is something he really excels in.  Cody says he really didn't know if the match was any good while he was in it.  He just was trying to get the blood to stop at a certain point.  Corey says in the Jericho match, he wanted to prove he belonged but with Dustin it just felt right.

Cody talks about being backstage at WCW and Dusty getting his opinion on product about what he liked and didn't like.  Rhodes talks about being enamored with wrestling and seeing Dustin get to do it made him want to do it.  He would miss days of school to go to WCW events.  Cody talks about living in the Crockett region of the country and loving the Atlanta Braves.  He talks about Dusty never embarrassing him in public.  He was very much in the background at school events.  Cody mentions lying to his father in regard to other vocations he would like to do other than wrestling like wanting to be an actor.  He talks about his father being a big fan of his amateur wrestling career.  Cody talks about the ugly recognition he received.  We also hear how Rhodes loved the team dynamic of the high school squad.  Cody discusses how his mom reacted to his exploits and try not to ignite the excitement In the American Dream.  Tony says he is excited for the future.  And Cody agrees can't wait to see what's to come.
