NEW DAY FEEL THE POWER PODCAST RECAP

By Paul Jordan on 2020-02-24 08:24:00

The latest episode of "The New Day: Feel the Power" podcast is now available.

After the customary introduction, Xavier says this is a special episode for him as his best friend Mikal Mosley is here. Xavier asks Mosley if he is wearing a cut-up fashioned into a T-shirt. He denies it and states no he's just a big guy. Woods then recaps that we've had one of Big E's friends and one of Kofi's friends on the podcast. So now it's his turn to have secrets revealed on the show. He then turns it over to Mosley to reveal some stories. Mikal says he's going to start out soft for Woods. Moseley tells the story of being excited for Xavier when he was signed by TNA and will go to the shows in Orlando quite a bit as he worked in Universal Studios. He would give Woods support and praise. Mikal also wrestles for NWA Anarchy, also where Xavier started and wanted. Woods to watch his match so they can talk about it later. Moseley comes back from his match calling it the best seven minutes of his life, he goes to look for Xavier and he's nowhere to be found. He is backstage gabbing with someone else. Then Mosley asks if Xavier saw his match and according to Mikal, he jokingly says Woods blew him off at first. Woods gets a little agitated that this, stating that he wasn't going to have Mosley on the podcast to lie. Mosley then says that. Woods just told him he didn't see the match. Mikal was understandably angry as he put it. He was "friend hot".

So fast-forward to another show Mosley was on which he called this "the worst show he ever worked". He states that the right people in the audience and the promoter went through a flaming table. But Mikal felt that this would be a good place to be a "second audition" of sorts for some character ideas. Because no one would ever see it. Woods chimes in to get more context, saying back in the day when you are signed to FCW WWE did not want you to be seen at other independent events because fans would realize that you are signed to the company and that could cause trouble. Xavier didn't understand how he gets in more trouble for watching wrestling. So he got a group together from developmental, which included Bobby Dutch, a.k.a. Bill Carr, Celeste, probably better known as Kaitlyn to WWE fans, maybe Richie Steamboat, EC3 and more are traveling to show. They get snacks. The group arrived at the show, as it was just beginning. It was just in time to see Mikal get introduced for his match.  Xavier then tells the rest of the group that that is his friend and they begin cheering loudly.  Mosley is thrown off by the loud reaction in the smaller crowd.  So he scans the audience and finds his friend.  Xavier recounts Mosley looked a little rejected as he was, not expecting anyone he knew to be there.  Mosley goes on to say that what he was doing was not his best stuff as he was just trying stuff out.  And he felt like giving the whole crowd a refund. Xavier says he loved every second of it.

Xavier then transitions into talking about the two friends attending Dragon Con every year in Atlanta, which happens to be around. Woods birthday. Woods talks about initially going to the big gathering for a wrestling show. But quickly feeling underdressed and wanting to get in on the fun, Xavier and Mikal go to a Walmart to try to find costumes. Mosley talks about his sister turning a brown towel into a wood nymph outfit. He then talks about going down the underwear aisle and Xavier reacting to the white cotton thong like underwear, saying that they could be like the Fruit of the Loom guys, Mosley says that idea was funny but he didn't think Xavier was serious. This leads to them attempting to put on the underwear outside of the convention center of the parking garage and having one hell of a time. Woods then wants tattoos; Moseley then finds a dried out Sharpie in the trunk of his car to which they proceeded to spit on to get moisture for the temporary ink. Once they do this, they realize they need to shave their thighs. Xavier says seeing them do this was a sight to behold. Mosley recounts that it was the last time he shaved his thighs because after a few days it burned.

Mosley then discusses another story of Dragon Con past when Woods was in TNA where fans were asking for his autograph. They were joking and having a good time dressed as Planeteers. At one point. Woods takes his shirt off and they were next to a booth with TVs " Incredible Hulk" Lou Ferrigno, who complements Xavier on his body. This makes Woods very excited. However, later on, they run into Ferrigno again and he blows Woods off thinking he was just a fan.

Woods talks about getting their reservations and plan out the costumes for the yearly event. Big E says he doesn't FaceTime anyone else as much as he does Mosley to talk about the costumes. Mikal then talks about how one year, Xavier wanted to go as cereal mascots. Mosley made himself Lucky the Leprechaun and Woods wanted to be Tony the Tiger but Xavier would never answer the call back when he would try to reach him. So he brought Tiger print thong and cat ears, telling Xavier to answer his call regarding costumes. Which he now does. Xavier recounts getting pictures taken in the skimpy outfit and also playing Dance Dance Revolution as the cereal mascots.

After a short break, Xavier talks about not drinking a drop of alcohol until he was 27 at Dragon Con. He drank with Mikal and it was after he lost his voice wrestling. Woods was a little dismayed not to be able to communicate with his fellow nerd. Xavier is on a quest to find the bear coat from the Comedy Central show, "Workaholics". Mosley goes to get some drinks. When he comes back. Xavier's nowhere to be found. After some searching, he finds Woods at a rave in one of the ballrooms. Xavier recounts taking his first shot and then doing 20 more in succession. Then things got weird. Mosley asks Woods if he remembers that he hit had to be convinced to do this. Woods agrees. They discuss how last year they threw a Powerline theme birthday party.

Woods then transitions talking about getting pulled into a room by Triple H at a live event a few weeks before WrestleMania 33 about dressing as Final Fantasy characters. Kofi talks about how surreal it was that someone is talking to them about the game that they played all throughout high school. Xavier talks about recommending Mosley for the job. Mosley discusses the process and having a whole team down helping create the costumes. Mikal discusses how cool it was to see it come to fruition. Kofi then talks about the danger that was the ice cream cart and the high angle ramp. Kingston says it was a lawsuit waiting to happen. Big E talks about how they are in one of the most iconic moments in modern WrestleMania history with the Hardy' s return. Xavier talks about Legion of Doom shoulder pads with ice from cones on the shoulder pads. Kofi says they looked cool. The group discusses the initial plan of having confetti cannons, but WWE was afraid to do that because it might affect the LED lights around the ring. Kofi also mentions coming out as Red Lanterns for Summerslam against The Usos, a match for the finish was changed multiple times before the bell rang.

Mosley then reveals that due to vignettes filmed at his house for Mixed Match Challenge with Big E, Xavier. Kofi and Carmella, there are now rules in his housing association regarding filming in the street. The guys talk about filming vignettes in the gym and at Mosley's house. Then they were running around in leopard-print leotards throughout the neighborhood which caused a fine at first. Then a change to the rules entirely. Mikal talks about training with Kofi's first opponent and his gimmick as "The Greatest Black Athlete" with all his different outfits.
