TESSA BLANCHARD VS. CHERRY BOMB, SU YUNG, JORDYNNE GRACE VS. BRITT BAKER, RENEE MICHELLE & MORE: CZW GIRLZ: SEXY & VIOLENT PPV REPORT

By Mike Johnson on 2020-02-24 11:00:00

CZW continued their new PPV series with the latest installment of CZW Girlz, subtitled “Sexy and Violent”, available on all cable and VOD providers through Stonecutter Media’s distribution.  This PPV is currently available.

The PPV opened with a music video featuring a sizzle reel of women's action from Combat Zone Wrestling over the years.

Renee Michelle vs. Angelus Layne

The unidentified announcer (possibly Maven Bentley) noted Michelle was well known for national appearances as her husband has chased around the 24/7 title.  Layne attacked her but Michelle fired back with punches and kick to the face for a two count. Layne peppered her with punches to the face and whipped her hard into the buckles.  Lane nailed a running back elbow and choked her.  Michelle was trapped in the ropes and beaten across the chest with clubbing shots.  Michelle was nailed with a back suplex for a two count.

Layne whipped Michelle into the corner, but it was reversed.  Layne caught her rebounding off the ropes but Michelle exploded with a roaring forearm for a two count.  Layne fired back with a headbutt and drilled her with an inverted exploder for a two count.  Layne argued with the referee, setting up Michelle to drill her with a kick.  A woozy Layne crashed down.  Michelle hit a hell of a moonsault and scored the pin.

Your winner, Renee Michelle!

This was OK.  Michelle's moonsault was the highlight of the bout.  The announcing was built around the idea that the CZW Girlz were sexy but violent with some concern over Michelle taking punishment to her "pretty" face.

Jordynne Grace vs. Britt Baker

They noted Grace has done some training with Scott Steiner.  They pushed the dentist angle for Baker.

There was some good back and forth sequences early until Baker nailed a neckbreaker.  She missed a legdrop attempt and was caught with a spinebuster for a two count.  Grace powered her up into a bearhug but Baker elbowed her way out.  Grace cut her off and pushed her against the ropes, doing push-ups.  Baker and Grace exchanged hard slaps but Grace used her power to drive Baker back into the buckles.  Baker tried to fight her way out but Grace caught her with a Diamond Dust off the ropes.  She nailed a series of shoulderblocks in the corner.

Grace went back to the bearhug but Baker turned it into a DDT.  The competitors battled to their feet.  They kept reversing attempts at moves until Grace was drilled in the face with a right hand and covered for a two count.

Grace caught Baker with a sit-down Emerald Fusion for a two count and followed up with another.  Britt catches her with a kick to the stomach and nailed a scissors kick to the back of the neck for a two count.  Baker goes for a cross body but is caught in mid-air and whipped around in another bearhug.  Baker finally submits.

Your winner, Jordynne Grace!

A solid bout from much earlier in their respective careers as they were not as polished as they are in 2020 but you could see their potential shining through.

Su Yung vs. Veda Scott vs. Kiera Hogan for CZW Spirit Championship.

Yung is defending the title, being managed by Chrissy Rivera.

Yung stares down Scott, then shoved Hogan.  They each try to take Yung down with pinfall combinations but are unable to do so.  All three circle the others.  Yung grabs them both with a choke but they double-team her to take Yung down and attempt a double submission.  Scott, realizing she wouldn't get the win, attacked Hogan and worked her over with forearms.  They fire back and forth with running forearms until Yung intercedes and attacks them both.  Scott eats a running knee in the corner and is hit with several kicks.  Yung charged back and forth with forearms and kicks.  Hogan moved out of the way, setting up Scott sending Yung into the corner.

It turned into a fast series of spots and strikes at this point with all three hitting big moves.  Yung nailed a hanging Pedigree off the ropes, but Hogan rolled to the floor.  Rivera attacked her on the floor as Yung tried to work over Scott.  Yung nailed a head scissors, driving Veda into the buckles face-first.  Rivera placed Hogan in a chair.  Yung teased diving off the apron but Hogan recovered and attacked her on the apron.  She nailed a guillotine legdrop while Yung was hanging in the ropes, driving her head into the apron.  Scott tried to pick the bones but Hogan broke up the pinfall.

Hogan and Veda began brawling in the ring and battled to the top rope.  This set up a Tower of Doom spot.  Scott slipped out and tried to hit a Doomsday Device on Hogan, who was on Yung's shoulders.  Hogan ducked and went for a forward roll for a two count.  All three battled into the corner, where they nailed a triple German suplex.

With all three down, the crowd rallied them to recover.  Veda covered Hogan for a two count but Yung sat up like The Undertaker and pulled her glove on, teasing a Mandible Claw.  Hogan caught her with a Facebuster but Veda nailed her with a shining wizard.  She covered Hogan but the referee was pulled out of the ring. Scott slipped out of the ring and grabbed Rivera.  Leva Bates, dressed as Steve Austin, showed up at ringside and threw a drink into Yung's face.  That allowed Hogan to hit a Perfectplex for the pin.

Your winner and new Spirit Champion, Keira Hogan.

They did a beer bash after the match.  Bates even hit the Stone Cold Stunner on the referee.

Tessa Blanchard vs. Cherry Bomb for the WSU Championship

Bomb is better known as Allie.  They showed a promo from Bomb.  She said we all know who Tessa Blanchard's daddy is and how she got her spot on the roster.  She said that some of them gave blood, sweat and tears to be here while Blanchard went and whined to her father that she wanted to be a wrestler.  She said Tully didn't deserve to be a Four Horsemen.  HEY NOW.  Watch that!

Tessa responded and said the Four Horsemen without Tully Blanchard didn't work.  She said Bomb cheated to win the WSU title but she's been given a title shot and she's walking out the new WSU Champion.

Blanchard grabbed the title belt and held it aloft, which upset Bomb.  She tried to charge Tessa but was held back by the referee.

Blanchard was backed into the corner and slapped.  She exploded with a series of punches, snapmared Bomb and tied her up on the mat with a head scissors.  Bomb fought her off and nailed a big kick.  Blanchard cut her off and nailed a double underhook suplex for a two count.

Blanchard continued working over Bomb, who drove her into the buckles.  Bomb snapped her with a suplex into the buckles and scored a two count. They scrapped on the mat, exchanging strikes.  Bomb gained control and choked her against the ropes.  Blanchard fired back with right hands but was smashed face-first into the canvas.  Blanchard worked her over but was caught with a lariat for a two count.

Bomb sent her into the buckles and chopped her hard.   Blanchard fired back with her own.  They battled back and forth until Bomb caught her with a kneelift.  Blanchard was worked over and choked against the ropes.  Bomb went for a suplex but it was blocked and reversed for a two count.  Bomb and Blanchard battled.  Bomb stomped her face and used the boot to scrape Blanchard's face, showing a more maniacal heel persona.
She tossed Tessa to the floor but Tessa jumped back in.  Bomb dumped her to the floor again but Blanchard returned and this time, it was Bomb tossed to the floor.  Tessa went for a sliding kick to the outside but was caught and drilled with several physical shots before being sent into the guard rail.

Bomb worked over Blanchard on the floor and drilled her back into the ring apron.  Blanchard kept fighting back, smacking her face into the ring steps as she was shoved back-first into it herself.  Both competitors were down as the referee counted them out.

Bomb returned to the ring with Blanchard just making it back in time.  They beat the hell out of each other with forearms before Tessa gained control with a series of clotheslines and a neckbreaker.  She nailed a back elbow and hit a dropkick for a two count.  Blanchard worked her over and scored a two count but Bomb grabbed the ropes to force the pinfall to halt.

Bomb worked over Tessa's back and nailed a German suplex.  Blanchard collapsed down into the ropes and was nailed with a leaping forearm against the ropes.  Blanchard got her shoulder up at the last second several times, leading to a shocked Bomb screaming in anger.  Pissed off, she began screaming at Tessa, who drilled her with a right.  Blanchard went for a DDT but Bomb slipped out and caught her with a superkick for the pin.

Your winner and still WSU Champions, Cherry Bomb!

This was actually a hell of a back and forth bout.

As a window into seeing some of the talents before the advent of their runs on national TV, this is nice overview of where they cut their teeth.  The commentary alluded to how hot and sexy the women are will be a turnoff to some for sure, but the idea here is to try and appeal to a very frat boy male demographic and that was blatantly obvious.
