CZW FIRE VS. FLESH PPV REPORT - ONITA VS. MATT TREMONT, TREMONT VS. ANTHONY GANGONE & WELL, FIRE!

By Mike Johnson on 2020-02-23 10:18:00

Combat Zone Wrestling FIRE VS. FLESH is the second in a series of monthly specials distributed to PPV and VOD providers by Stonecutter Media, this one focusing on matches featuring “Bulldozer” Matt Tremont.

The opening voiceover thanks everyone for ordering the show and promises matches where combatants light all sorts of things on fire – Well, that sounds like Disney will be acquiring this show!

We go right to the action.

Anthony Gangone vs. Matt Tremont

The storyline here is Gangone is an interloper from New York trying to prove himself and Tremont is stepping up to take down his incursion into CZW.

Big CZW chant for Tremont.  Gangone stalls early on to play mind games with Tremont.  Tremont finally has enough and sneaks up behind him with a big right hand.  They exchange fists on the floor with Tremont getting the better of the fight.  Gangone tries to whip Tremont into the ring steps but its reversed.  Gangone is punched over the guard rail and lands in the crowd.

Tremont follows Gangone and works him over in the crowd, slamming several chairs down over him.   Gangone fires back with a chair, which stalls but doesn't stop Tremont's momentum.  Gangone goes for a suplex on the floor but its reversed and Gangone takes one through the chairs.  Tremont plays to the crowd and drills him with another right, bringing Gangone back into the ringside area.  Tremont stalked Gangone, biting him on the forehead.  Tremont grabbed a plastic baseball bat embedded with thumbtacks but Gangone grabs another and smacks him with it.  Gangone worked over Tremont with the bat, busting him open. You could see a number of thumbtacks stuck in Tremont's head and forehead.

Gangone grabbed Tremont's trademark chain and wrapped it around his face and mouth, choking him.  Gangone worked over Tremont with a series of right hands and covered him for a two count.    Tremont is dumped to the floor as Gangone continues the beating.  Tremont is hit with a chair flung into his face.  Gangone came off the apron, drilling Tremont's back.  Tremont is dumped back into the ring.  Gangone set up a door in the corner of the ringside area, then returned to the ring, challenging Tremont to fight him before stomping away at Tremont.

Tremont poured a box full of thumbtacks down on the mat.  He brought Tremont to the pile but was snatched up and hit with a DVDR through the tacks. Gangone sold it as if the tacks were embedded inside his hands as well as his back.  Tremont made his way to his feet and grabbed several light tubes.  Gangone grabbed them first and nailed Tremont with one, but Tremont absorbed it and said, "F*** you!" then nailed two of his own.

Tremont called for something from the back.  A barbed wire board was set up over several chairs outside in the aisle.  Tremont returned to the ring, but Gangone caught him with a big DDT on the light tube debris for a two count.  Gangone went to the top but was caught with several right hands that knocked him down to the apron.  Tremont rebounded off the ropes and nailed a big Mafia Kick, sending Gangone off the apron through the board.  Officials had to cut the barbed wire to get some of his hair free.

Tremont pulled him back into the ring for a two count.  Tremont set up a chair inside the ring.  The table was falling apart even before Gangone was placed atop of it.  Tremont played to the crowd and went to the top rope but Gangone rolled off the table, hit Tremont and nailed a big superplex through the table.  Gangone covered him but Tremont pulled his shoulder off the mat at the very last second.

Gangone worked over Tremont, choking him against the ropes.  Gangone set up a table in the center of the ring and doused it with lighter fluid.  He set the table ablaze but was caught and hit with a DVDR through the table (which had most of the flame out by now) and pinned by Tremont.

Your winner, Matt Tremont!

This was an entertaining bout.  Tremont has a lot of legitimate charisma and Gangone has been one of the underrated talents in the NYC area for some time.  This was a good bout.

Maven Bentley did a voiceover following up the bout saying what we saw is what they are talking about when CZW talks about Fire vs. Flesh.  He noted medical staff will be attending to Gangone but this will be the last time he tangles with Matt Tremont.

Atsushi Onita vs. Matt Tremont: No Ropes Barbed Wire Exploding Baseball Bats Match

Tremont out first.  Big reaction and CZW chant.  Onita out next to "Wild Thing."  Huge pop.  Streamers.

Onita threw his jacket at Tremont and rammed his face into the barbed wire.  He nailed him with a chair several times.   They went to the floor, where Onita worked over Tremont.  The fans chanted Bulldozer while others chanted for Onita.  Tremont was bleeding.  They returned to the ring where Onita bit him in the face and nailed him with a barbed wire bat to the chest.  Onita hit him in the head with a chair but Tremont no sold it and clotheslined him for a two count.

Onita blew red mist in Tremont's face.  He beat Tremont over and over across the back it the remnants of the chair.   He raked Tremont's face with the barbed wire bat.   He sent Tremont into the wire and charged but Tremont moved.  Onita hit the wire and Tremont spewed red mist.

Tremont grabbed an exploding bat but RAIJIN-Yaguchi and Hideki Hosaka hit the ring and attacked him, preventing him from using it.  They held him for Onita, who used the bat and it exploded when it struck Tremont's chest.  They all beat Tremont.  Out came Danny Havoc and Ricky Shane Page.  They all brawled.  Onita challenged them to a six man tag: FMW vs. CZW.  Tremont agreed.

Everyone brawled using barbed wire weapons.   Page sent Yaguchi into a table in the corner, which got a CZW chant.   Team CZW grabbed Onita and Tremont nailed him with the exploding bat.  That explosion looked better than the first.   Team CZW worked over Team FMW until Onita blew mist in Havoc's face and hit a stunner on Tremont.

Team FMW set up a barbed wire board across four chairs in the ring.   They suplexed Havoc through the board for a two count.   Havoc was nailed with an exploding barbed wire bat and hit with a back suplex onto the remnants of the barbed wire board and pinned.

Your winners, Team FMW!

Onita took the mic and said he runs Japan.  He said these weren't explosions and they were cheap.  He challenged Tremont to come to Japan and said he would show him what an explosion death match was.   Onita cut a promo thanking everyone for coming and told Tremont when he comes to Japan, he will show him.  They slapped each other.  Tremont said he would come to Japan for the first time and he will beat Onita.  Onita slapped him.

It was, well, a spectacle.

They closed out with a CZW music video, reminding everyone to visit CZWrestling.com.

Another good hour of brawling and chaos.  Tremont vs. Gangone was entertaining.  Onita vs. Tremont is sort of a letdown in that it turns into the six-man tag but having been there that night live, it was something Onita wanted and didn't want to break from once he made that decision, so CZW was sort of stuck.  This was better post-produced than I recalled it live in the building in Voorhees, NJ.
