WWE runs Super Showdown on 2/27 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The show will be a bit of a placeholder for WWE as it comes before The Elimination Chamber, which will be the show that sets up WrestleMania. Not a lot of big storyline things will probably happen at the show. That doesn’t mean there isn’t an opportunity for savvy bettors to make money by betting on the action via sportsbooks in New Jersey.
We will give you our take on what we see happening at the show to help you come out a winner.
WWE Universal Champion Bray Wyatt vs. Bill Goldberg. While it isn’t hard to envision Vince McMahon putting the Title on Goldberg right before WrestleMania, as he did it a few years ago, the smart money here says that Goldberg is there primarily to give the Saudis a big name for the show. It seems that Wyatt vs. Roman Reigns is the money match for Mania. If they put the Title on Goldberg, it would undercut all of the great work they did in getting The Fiend over. It would also take all of the people he has beaten since winning the Title down a peg. The pick here is Wyatt.
WWE Champion Brock Lesnar vs. Ricochet. Given his matchup with Drew McIntyre is pretty much set in stone, as it should be, there is no chance of Lesnar losing his Title here. Ricochet will be competitive but he will not be leaving with the belt. You will have to bet a lot to win a little, but it’s pretty much a sure thing.
WWE Smackdown Tag Team Champions The New Day vs. John Morrison & The Miz. Miz has a show on The USA Network. Morrison has returned to WWE after a long absence and is fresh in WWE. The New Day do not need the Titles as they are made men. It smells like a Title change here, setting up a feud that takes the team into April.
Baron Corbin vs. Roman Reigns in a Steel Cage Match. This feud has largely run its course, so this just seems like a place for Roman to get the star treatement. WWE will have big plans for Reigns at WrestleMania. They want to shoot off fireworks and make the Saudi fans happy. Every possible sign points to a Reigns victory.
WWE Smackdown Women's Champion Bayley will defend her title. This is the second women’s match in the country and if the first one is any indication, it will probably be pretty vanilla. That means whoever Bayley goes against, she probably beats them. The only way they do a Title change is so that Bayley will have an opponent for WrestleMania. With the Raw and NXT women's Titles already accounted for, the Smackdown championship needs something to get it on the road to WrestleMania. It could be a good longshot to bet on whoever the opponent ends up being.
Tuwaiq Trophy Gautlet Match - AJ Styles vs. R-Truth vs. Erick Rowan vs. Rusev vs. Bobby Lashley vs. WWE United States Champion Andrade. This is the hardest match to handicap given the uncertain nature of it. Truth, given the nature of his character, problably has no chance. Rowan just lost on Raw so he probably doesn’t either. Lashley and Rusev will probably take each other out as their feud is far from over. That means that it should come down to AJ Styles and Andrade and if it does, it makes sense to have AJ get the win, setting him up for a US Title match. WrestleMania is coming and Styles needs a place on the card. Fighting for the US Title would make perfect sense.
WWE Raw Tag Team Champions Seth Rollins & Murphy vs. TheStreet Profits. While a shock Title change would set these teams on a course to WrestleMania, it would seem it’s too soon to do that. Murphy has just started his elevation up the card so taking the Title from him at this show doesn’t seem to be in the cards. But, if the champs use nefarious means to win, it could be a good way to start their program where they meet again at the biggest show of the year.
