World Wrestling Entertainment announced during tonight's WWE Backstage broadcast that John Cena will be returning to the company on the February 28th edition of Friday Night Smackdown on FOX.
That episide will emanate from Cena's hometown of Boston, MA, the day after WWE Super Showdown.
Should Cena's appearance lead to him wrestling at Wrestlemania 36, it will be Cena's first PPV bout since defeating Triple H at the Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia. Cena appeared in a non-wrestling role at Wrestlemania 35 in New Jersey, reprising his Doctor of Thuganomics persona while confronting Elias. At Wrestlemania 34, Cena lost to The Undertaker in New Orleans.
