MLW FUSION REPORT: OPERA CUP FINALS AND MORE

We begin this week’s show with a recap of the Opera Cup including the history of the event and the matches leading to tonight’s Finals.

We are in New York City and your announcers are AJ Kirsch and Rich Bocchini.

Before our opening match, we get comments from Injustice.

Myron says he hears the comparisons. They say he is like Cassius Clay. He agrees but he doesn’t agree. He agrees the rich white man is trying to control his actions. He says he is no system rat. He does not fit in anyone’s mold. He says if he is like anyone, he is more like Muhammad Ali. He is at war with the system.

Match Number One: El Lindaman versus Myron Reed (with Jordan Oliver and Kotto Brazil) for the MLW Middleweight Championship

Reede and Lindaman go face to face and Reed with a punch but it has no effect. Lindaman catches Reed on a leap frog and he sends Reed into the turnbuckles and Lindaman chops the chest protector. Lindaman with a forearm and a flatliner. Lindaman with a reverse chin lock. Lindaman with an elbow to the top of the head. Lindaman with kicks.

Lindaman with a slam and he gets a near fall. Lindaman goes for a Boston Crab but Oliver and Brazil get on the apron and Lindaman loses his focus. Reed with a rollup for a near fall. Reed with a slam followed by a slingshot leg drop for a near fall. Reed chokes Lindaman in the corner. Reed with kicks to the chest. Reed with a forearm to the back followed by one to the head.

Reed tries for a suplex but Lindaman blocks it. Reed with a forearm and Lindaman with a plancha onto Brazil and Oliver. Reed goes for a dive and he lands on Brazil. Lindaman with a flip dive onto Reed. Lindaman rolls Reed back into the ring and he misses a clothesline. Lindaman goes for a German but Reed escapes. Reed with an elbow but Lindaman with a forearm to the back and a drop kick to the back of the head. Lindaman gets a near fall. Lindaman with a waist lock and Reed grabs the ropes. Lindman with a kick to the hands and Lindaman with a German suplex but Reed lands on his feet. Lindaman with another German suplex for a near fall. Lindaman sets for a suplex but Reed counters into a cutter and then he hits a springboard cutter. Reed with a sit out Dragon bomb for a near fall. Reed goes to the apron and he goes for a springboard move but Lindaman with a drop kick. Lindaman with a kumagoroshi and then he holds on for a German suplex but Reed holds the ropes. Reed goes to the ramp and then he leaps from the ramp and hits a cutter followed by a 450 splash for the three count.

Winner: Myron Reed (retains Championship)

We go to Alicia Atout with Brian Pillman Jr. She asks about Brian’s shoulder. He says he has a Grade 3 AC Joint Separation. He denied treatment and surgery because it would have kept him out of the Opera Cup. Brian says that Injustice did not succeed in getting him out of the Opera Cup. Brian says Injustice reminds himself of how he was when he was younger. Brian says he will go into the finals and he has nothing to lose.

Alicia asks Brian about being in the ring with his mentor. Brian says it means a lot to be on a team with Davey Boy Smith Jr. He has felt safe and secure in the Hart Foundation. This is about two legacy wrestlers. There will be no Hart Foundation and there will be no Harts in the ring. He will prove to Davey and the whole Hart family that he deserves respect. He says he thinks it can happen.

We go to commercial.

We are back with King Mo. He says he does not care about the finals, but he wants to face the winner. Mo says he loves gold. He wants a shot at Jacob Fatu. He says he needs it and he is coming for Jacob.

We take a look back at what happened last week with Gino Medina.

We go to Lifestyles of the Rich and Dynastic.

They are drinking some champagne and Maxwell wants to know where the big, inbred, knuckle dragging . . . Hammerstone says he is his gift. Richard gives Gino his Dynasty Card. Gino says that Konnan used to be over in Mexico. He was the Hulk Hogan of Mexico. Hammerstone says Konnan doesn’t even have a Hogan tan. Konnan is a senile, fat has been. Hammerstone says that Gino made the right call to join the hottest thing in wrestling.

We go to the Fightland Control Center for the return to Philadelphia on February 1st. Brian Pillman Jr. will face Jimmy Havoc. Davey Boy Smith Jr. will face Erick Stevens. LA Park will return in Philadelphia.

We go to commercial.

We are back and we get comments from Savio Vega about Gino Medina. He says Gino disrespected Konnan and Konnan is a good friend of Gino’s dad. He will show Gino in a street fight. It is time to pay the price for your decision.

Match Number Two: Savio Vega versus Gino Medina in a New York City Street Fight

Vega swings and misses and Medina misses an enzugiiri. Vega hits Medina with the kendo stick and they go to the floor. Medina sends Vega into the ring post and then Medina hits Vega with the kendo stick. Vega Irish whips Medina into the post. Vega hits Medina in the head with a trash can lid and he does it again.

Vega throws the trash can into the ring as they continue to battle on the floor. Vega picks up a chair and he hits Medina in the head with it. Medina grabs the chair and he kicks Vega. Medina hits Vega in the back with the chair. Medina gets a near fall. Medina hits Vega in the back with the trash can and then he puts it over Vega’s head and hits an enzuigiri for a near fall. Vega and Medina exchange chops. Vega with a punch and head butt. Vega hits Medina with a stop sign and pizza trays. Medina hits Vega in the head with the pizza tray.

Medina punches Vega from the turnbuckles and then he this Vega with the trash can lid. Medina gets Vega on his shoulders and he drops Vega on the turnbuckles. Medina with a running knee to the back of the head for a near fall. Medina slaps and punches Vega but Vega punches back. Vega hits Medina with the stop sign and then Vega chops Medina and gets a near fall.

Vega with punches and Medina with a kick and snap mare. Medina hits Vega in the head with the stop sign. Medina puts the stop sign against Vega’s throat. Medina chokes Vega in the corner. Vega with a punch and back heel kick. Vega chokes Medina. Vega sends Medina to the floor and Vega hits Medina with the kendo stick. Vega grabs the hockey stick and he hits Medina with the kendo stick and hockey stick. Medina sends Vega into the guardrails and then hits Vega in the back with the hockey stick. Medina puts the chair around Vega’s head and Vega is sent into the ring post. Medina gets a near fall.

Medina kicks Vega and punches Vega but Vega does not appreciate it and Vega with chops to Medina. Vega with a back body drop and punches. Medina with a kick and Vega with a spinning back elbow for a near fall. Vega misses a spinning heel kick and Medina gets a near fall. Medina misses Vega with a chair shot and Vega with a spinning heel kick.

The other members of the Dynasty make their way to the ramp and Vega gets distracted and Medina with a low blow and spinning heel kick for the three count.

Winner: Gino Medina

We are told that Tom Lawlor is being investigated by the New York State Athletic Commission for using an unauthorized weapon in a brawl with the Von Erichs.

Alicia Atout is with Davey Boy Smith Jr. and she asks him about his match against Brian Pillman Jr. Davey says in 1948, the Opera Cup was won by his grandfather Stu Hart. To be in the finals, it means pride, passion, and glroy. Brian Pillman Jr., your father was taught by his family and Davey says he had something to do with training you. He is surprised that Brian is in the finals but he has the passion and desire. You are a part of his family, but tonight it is business.

We go to commercial.

We are back and we are told that Injustice has been escorted from the building.

We are told that the Opera Cup will be an annual event.

Match Number Three; Davey Boy Smith Jr. versus Brian Pillman Jr. in the Finals of the Opera Cup

They lock up and Smith backs Pillman into the corner. Smith pats Pillman on the chest before the break. They lock up and Pillman backs Smith into the corner and Pillman teases a chop and he offers his hand and they shake. Pillman goes for the leg but Smith avoids him. Smith with a wrist lock. Pillman with a side head lock. Pillman holds on when Smith tries to send Pillman off the ropes. Pillman with a head lock take down and Smith gets a near fall with a rollup.

Smith with a forearm and elbows. Smith with a shoulder tackle. Smith with a forearm and slam to Pillman. Smith stretches Pillman with a surfboard. Pillman gets to his feet but he cannot escape the hold. Pillman tries to reverse but Smith maintains the hold. Pillman reverses the hold and he stretches Smith. Smith returns to the surfboard and Pillman kicks Smith way to escape. Pillman with a drop kick. Pillman goes to the apron and he avoids Smith. Pillman with a springboard move off the ropes onto Smith on the floor.

Pillman sends Smith back into the ring and Pillman with a chop and forearm. Smith with a boot to the head. Smith sends Pillman to the floor and Smith Irish whips Pillman into the guardrails. Smith with a forearm. Smith with a kick and suplex on the floor. Smith kicks Pillman in the corner. Smith with a European uppercut and head butt. Smith gets a near fall.

Smith with a reverse chin lock. Smith gets another near fall. Pillman with chops to Smith and Smith with a head butt and punch. Smith with a forearm to the back. Pillman blocks a suplex attempt. Smith with a chop. Pillman with an Irish whip and Smith with a boot.

Smith with a reverse chin lock. Pillman gets to the ropes and Smith releases the hold. Smith with a leg drop and a kick to the head. Smith goes up top and he misses a leg drop. Pillman with punches and forearms followed by a kick to the temple. Pillman with a suplex and he gets a near fall. Smith catches Pillman on a cross body attempt but Pillman with a rollup for a near fall. Smith with European uppercut and Pillman with a backslide for a near fall.

Pillman and Smith each get near falls with inside cradles. Pillman goes for a sunset flip but Smith drops down for a near fall but Pillman gets a near fall. They go back and forth with near falls. Pillman with a super kick and knee to the head. Pillman goes to the apron and hits the springboard clothesline but Smith kicks out. Pillman hits Dire Promise but Smith kicks out. Smith backs Pillman into the corner. Pilman with a boot and then he misses a twisting cross body. Smith with a running power slam for a near fall. Smith gets another near fall. Smith slaps Pillman and then Smith hits a tombstone piledriver. Smith goes up top and he hits the diving head butt but Pillman kicks out.

Smith with a power bomb for a near fall. Smith with the Crossface and Pillman tries to fight through the pain and he gets a near fall with a rollup. Pillman has to tap out.

Winner: Davey Boy Smith Jr.

After the match, Smith is presented the Opera Cup.

They shake hands.
