MARITIMES WRESTLING LEGEND BOBBY KAY PASSES AWAY

Bobby Kay (real name Romeo Cormier) passed away at age 70 on 1/17/20. He had been hospitalized for an undisclosed medical issue. A memorial service will take place for him on 1/21 but there will be no funeral.

Kay was one-fourth of the wrestling Cormier Brothers out of Canada along with Leo Burke (Leonce Cormier), Rudy Kay (Jean-Louis Cormier), and The Beast (Yvon Cormier).

Kay began training in pro wrestling as a teenager under Stu Hart and wrestled for Stampede Wrestling.

He wrestled in the Eastern Sports Association based in Nova Scotia, Canada which was an NWA territory in the late 1960s to mid- 1970s. Rudy Kay was one of the owners and the booker. Bobby and Burke ending up buying the company in its final year run.

He held the ESA International Tag Titles five different times alternating with The Beast and Leo Burke as his tag partners for the championships. He also won the Stampede International Tag Titles twice with Burke. He and Burke were the last Atlantic Grand Prix Tag Team Champions when AGPW closed down in the early 1990s. 

At times he wrestled under the different names of Bobby Burke and Terry Martin/Terry Kay. He won the NWA Central States Title in 1974.
