PAC APPEARS, DARK ORDER IS HIRING, CODY TALKS, MADNESS STARTS THE EVENING: FULL AEW DYNAMITE BLOG

By Anthony Pires on 2020-01-15 20:41:00

It's Bash at the Beach night.  If JR is wearing a speedo, I'm out.

Rocky Johnson, LA Parka, Kendo Nagasaki and Pampiro Firpo condolences are offered.

We've got a 4 Way tag to determine #1 contenders: Best Friends, Proud & Powerful, Young Bucks and Omega/Page.  Aren't the Bucks so far out of contention by now?  JR, sans speedo, metioned the winners meet SCU on the Jericho Cruise.  Excalibur just called Referee Rick Knox the tag team specialist referee of AEW.  OK...if you say so.  It's a first-pin wins, so why why WHY are we tagging competitors who are not partners, you are literally taking away your chance to win.  To be fair, The Bucks are working strictly as a unit.  Matt with his trifecta Northern Lights and Trent with a swinging DDT right away, now that move is now useless.  This is all action!  I feel really bad for Cory having to do play by play.

Santana with 3 Amigos but does the stalling vertical on the last one.  It took 12 seconds for Nick Jackson to recover.  Nick voluntarily tags in Omega.  Why?  Page hasn't seen any action legally yet.  We get a series of moonsaults from Page and Omega.  Rick Knox, the tag team specialist referee, has absolutely no idea who's legal.  I have to give credit: these guys aren't holding back one iota.  Down goes Knox.  I hope The Dark Order shows up.  Bucks save Omega, excellent strategy.  Orange Cassidy helps out, luckily the referee didn't see it.  I can't keep up with this.  Superkicks, Ligerbombs, lariats, oh my.  Excellent Buckshot lariat, V Trigger combination and Omega and Page are your number 1 contenders.  The Bucks are mad because Page blind tagged himself in off of them.  Isn't that the idea?  OK so the Bucks raise Omega and Page's hand in victory.

Good luck to the rest of the AEW roster having to follow this madness.

Seems like Page and Omega are arguing in the aisle.  I can't really tell because we've got that picture in picture thing going on.

Cody is out to respond to MJF's stipulation demands.  Somehow I think he'll accept.  Cody is channeling his Inner Don Johnson with his outfit tonight.  As I recall, the stipulations are:

-Cody can't touch MJF until the match at Revolution

-Cody has to meet Wardlow in a cage match

-Cody gets 10 lashings with a leather strap

There is a random woman in a bikini sitting on the stage.  I have no objection.  Cody is cutting one hell of a promo here, to the shock of no one.  Another non shocker, Cody accepts the stipulations.  He made the audience wait for the last acceptance.

BTW major congratulations to the entire AEW promotion on the TV deal.  I admit right here, right now that I didn't think this would work.

MJF is walking around with an "I banged Dallas' Daughter" shirt.  Ouch.

Darby Allin is shown during the commercial.  Excellent placement here as the viewer has a definite reason NOT to change the channel and check out NXT.  Joey Janella cuts a quick promo about getting punched in the Family Jewels by his ex girlfriend.  Rey Fenix vs. Joey Janella is announced for next week.

After the awesome Cody promo, we get Brandi and Mel, accompanied by Luther.  Why Brandi is evil, I have no idea.  Death match guy won't let Shida pass so Death Match guy gets laid out with a weak kendo stick shot by Shida, I'm sure he takes lightbulbs well.  Mel just sold a moonsault that missed.  Brandi tags in, she's got some fire, I'll say that.

Back from commercial, the match seems to have brought the crowd down a little.  In fairness, that opener was so hot, it would have been almost impossible to follow.  Brandi tags in as soon as Statlander does and Brandi, the evil leader, runs away in terror.  Mel just sold a dropkick that basically missed.  Luther is lurking around.  Nice superplex by Shida, she's really good.  Statlander reverses a tombstone on Mel, NOT an easy thing to do with a person of Mel's size.  That was impressive.  Babyfaces win!

DARK ORDER TIME.  They're actively recruiting Michael Nakazawa, Brandon Cutler, Hangman Page.  Infomercial Guy is talking to the Exalted One.  I get wanting Page, but Cutler and Nakazawa?  Both guys are 0-for-the-century.

Sammy Guevara vs Jon Moxley.  Winner meets Allin vs Pac winner next week on the Jericho Cruise to determine the number 1 contender.  I dropped subtle hints to Dave to send me on the cruise like Ralphie did in A Christmas Story.  Sammy is doing his cue cards routine during the split screen commercial.  This audience wants Moxley and he shows up in the $750000 car he got last week. No one says "John" like Justin Roberts.  Sammy starts out fast.  Mox takes his head off with a clothesline.  JR just referenced Moxley's success in the Tokyo Dome without mentioned New Japan by name.  The politics of all these promotions is going to be interesting to watch in 2020.  Guevara with a double stomp on the apron while Moxley began in a standing position.  That had to hurt.   Guevara is getting a nice showing here.  Fairly obvious who's going over tonight, but they're giving Sammy enough to not lose steam.

There's bikini woman again.  I want to know more of her story.

WOW! Guevara just leaped to the top rope and nailed a Spanish Fly.  THAT was spectacular.  Speaking to spectacular, Moxley caught Sammy's moonsault and got a choke for the submission.  Really good stuff.

Lights out and the Inner Circle surrounds Moxley.  Mox aint backing down but he's getting a beat down.  Guevara is kind of leading the beatdown here.  Jericho with a spike to the eye.  Apparently, Jim Crockett is NOT in charge of AEW.  On a serious note, Moxley and Jericho will both be on a cruise ship for 4 days.  Those things can be kind of small in places.  Lord only knows what'll happen if they both want the same deck chair.

Chaos backstage as Jenn Sterger chases down Jericho and the Inner Circle.  Jericho is probably cutting a good heel promo but I'm kind of paying closer attention to Sterger.  Next week we have The Inner Circle vs The Jurassic Express.

Butcher, Blade and Bunny are up next.  They haven't been used well at all but I absolutely love their look, especially Butcher.  They're teaming with MJF against Dustin Rhodes (all time legend), DDP (all time legend) and QT Marshall (decidedly not an all time legend).  MJF is showing off his Dallas' Daughter T Shirt.  Lots of great stalling by MJF.  Butcher and Blade look like guys I DON'T want to ever meet in a dark alley.  MJF is putting on a show just standing there, yelling at Page or just mugging for the camera.  He's working all over Dustin.  Dustin just took out Butcher and Blade on a whip into the buckle.  Now we've got DDP and MJF.  DDP looks great for 62...but he looks 62.  Butcher eats the Diamond Cutter.  Cody with a Destroyer on MJF and DDP gives him the cutter.  Marshall is in there now legally.  DDP dives on everyone outside.  While we're seeing the replay, MJF pins Marshall.  Kind of came out of nowhere.

A drunk Adam Page interrupts Jenn Decker's interview with SCU.  Omega calms things down.

February 19th is when Cody will face Wardlow in the steel cage.

We have a different bikini woman in the lifeguard chair now.  The other one's shift must've been over.

Here comes The Bastard Pac.  I've always loved that name.  It's only 9:42 so these two should have plenty of time to tear it up.  This should be brutal.  Pac likes dishing it out and Allin can take it.  Not complaining but Allin just lost to Cody and now he's in a number one contenders match?  For the record, I'm fine with Allin being here but this is one of those spots where I can point at the AEW records thing and call it out as to how flawed it is.

Allin's tope suicida/shouldertackle looks RIDICULOUSLY brutal.  PAC's side headlock looks like he's really grinding it in.  Allin took a hell of a power bomb on the steps.  That coffin drop, if he can use it, is going to really take its toll on Allin's back.  Jesus we just got a crucifix off the top rope off of a reversal of a fireman carry by Allin.  Never seen that one before.  Destroyer by Allin, one of only 2 Destroyers on AEW tonight.  This has been nothing but fast action, both of these guys are going to be in a world of pain tomorrow.  Black Arrow by PAC and he goes on to meet Moxley.  Darby Allin loses NOTHING here.  That was hard hitting.

Tony Sciavone draws the unfortunate assignment of interviewing PAC.  PAC says he's already #1 contender by virtue of Moxley's surefire forfeit.  Tony cuts immediately backstage where Moxley breaks out of the ambulance and into the arena.  Per Moxley, he WILL compete next week.

No idea how NXT was tonight but from the last 2 hours, I'd say AEW earned the win tonight.  Really good stuff tonight with the women's match being the lone exception.
