Beyond Wrestling “Uncharted Territory”

Season 2, Episode 13

12/26/19 Worcester, MA

I’m fresh off a holiday plane from New Orleans, slightly travel delirious and we’re closing out the trip with the season finale of Uncharted Territory on IWTV!

Spotlight Match: Robo the Punjabi Lion beats Ken Doane - I like calling back to Doane screwing over Robo in the TFT opening round and having him get the receipt for that.

It’s the go-home show for the big New Year’s show “Heavy Lies the Crown”. We have the final bracket of the Tournament for Tomorrow tonight as well as a HUGE main event being simulcast with Fite TV, pitting the backbone of Beyond Chris Dickinson against one of it’s original co-founders and current GCW heavyweight champ, Ricky Shane Page. They’ve kicked this show off a half hour early but Worcester had no trouble packing the house already. I get the inkling suspicion this is going to be a hell of a night. ??And right off, we start with announcer Rich Palladino in the ring who is IMMEDIATELY interrupted by Larry Legend, who says this is the season finale and we’re gonna start this one off legit. Bring out his grumps.

Match 1: Legit Legends (Chuck O’Neil, Dominic Garrini & Kevin Ku w/ Larry Legend) vs Buffalo Brothers (Red Death Daniel Garcia, Kevin Blackwood, Puf) Fellow Buffalo native Brandon Thurston is angrily watching the Buffalo Brothers from the entry way as they start well against the surging Legit Legends. The Legends are getting beat at first but Garrini turns the tide and Garcia takes a ton of punishment. Garcia fires back and brings in Blackwood to clean house. Ku wipes out with a Total Elimination. Put in against O’Neil but eats a flying knead prolonged rear naked choke. Put powers out with smashes Chuck with a senton. Garcia in against Garcia and traps Red Death in a guillotine. Blackwood with a double stomp to break it up. O’Neil back in to catch Puf with the RNC. Violence is Forever keeps Blackwood and Garcia held back while Puf fades out and the bell rings.

Winners: Legit Legends

Crowd was fire for this right through. The boys of Buffalo proved a very game opponent for Chuck and crew. Hard-hitting right from the bell and closed out in brutally emphatic fashion. Brandon Thurston is out and VERY disappointing in his fellow Buffalo wrestlers. Thurston says HE puts Buffalo on the map and one of his fellow Buffalo wrestlers is in the back, currently preoccupied with competitive hot dog eating instead of professional wrestling.

Match 2: Brandon Thurston vs Megabyte Ronnie

Thurston is all over his former student at the bell but Ronnie stats to fire back with chops and suplexes to some “hot dog” chants from the crowd. Thurston dropped and Ronnie goes for a People’s Elbow with a hotdog but Thurston recovers in time to slap it out of his mouth. Thurston slams him around but Ronnie gets him down for that people’s hot dog elbow again and hits a ripcord popup power bomb for a two count. Thurston comes out of the pin with a DEEP fujiwara armbad. Ronnie tries to power out but Thurston dispatches him with a brain buster and that’s it for the hot dog man.

Winner: Brandon Thurston

The non-hot dog work here was solid. Thurston continues to impress as he makes a throne out of Megabyte Ronnie’s fallen body. Daniel Garcia has been watching this match from the entry way. He’s in the ring, sick of Thurston’s attitude and it looks like we’re getting this match for New Years!

Match 3: John Silver vs Jody Threat

Threat starts out strong, staying ahead of the meat man and treating him to some of his own suplexes and draping attacks. Silver powers back with a huge German and a series of those brutal chest kicks. Silver gets sent out and Threat is off the apron with a somersault. She skateboards at him with a tilt a whirl Rana. She goes for another but Silver super kicks her off it. Running boot and brain buster, Threat barely kicks out at two. Threat throwing hands as she gets to her feet, Silver tries to fire up but eats a slam for a two. Threat goes for a spear but gets booted and sent for a ride on the Spin Doctor bomb for the pin.

Winner: John Silver

This accomplished exactly what it needed to. Threat allowed Silver to showcase his wares ahead of his New Year’s clash with Kris Statlander while proving she can hang with one of Beyond’s best as well. Up next is the “Flying V Fights” showcase match!

Match 4: Arik Royal & The Ugly Ducklings (Rob Killjoy & Lance Lude w/ Coach Mikey) vs The Head of the Class (Logan Easton La Roux, Killian Mc Murphy & Eel O’Neal)

Flying V Fights is running a show Friday night with Ophidian vs WARHORSE as the headliner. It’s lucha rules and it’s chaotic as heck. The ducks are working fast and frantic but Laroux and company are staying competitive. Big dive series with Coach Mikey getting involved but becoming a step stool for LaRoux. Great reverse Boston crab from O’Neal that Royal smashes his head into break up. The end comes with Rob Kiljoy gets flipped into Killian but strikes Arik Royal with the boot on the way by. This allows LaRoux to hit a ripcord cutter for the pin.

WInners: The Head of the Class

Fast and furious all the way through. I like matches like this where Beyond gives the stage and spotlight to some of the other promotions under the IWTV banner. ??It’s time for the Discovery Gauntlet. You gotta win it to stay in it! Aaron Rourke has been a brash champion but SLADE is here, riding in on a wave of wild social media videos.

Match 5: “The Dimepiece” Aaron Rourke vs SLADE

Rourke in hot with the shotgun dropkick, strikes and double knees but only a one count. Rourke is in SLADE’s face and slapping but what a dumb dumb dumb dumb move that was. SLADE tossing Rourke post to post and hits a huge lariat. SLADE hits a variation of the Samoan Spike with a slam for an instant victory.

Winner: SLADE

Goodbye Aaron Rourke, SLADE just took the Gauntlet from you emphatically. Post-match, they ask SLADE what’s next? He says “NICK GAGE”. Well now.

Match 6: Kris Statlander vs Anthony Greene (w/ Ava Everett)

Greene is out with his new attitude, cutting off his music immediately while Ava still seems to be trying to talk sense into him. Greene parks Everett in a corner and tells her not to move. Statlander moves her. Statlander uses some of AG’s old retro-fun goofs against him and he is unamused. He hits a pop up power bomb for a two count. Greene wants chops but he chops the post and gets bit. He brings it back with a punch and stays ahead with slams and strikes. Statander fires back but isn’t able to string much together as Greene aggressively keeps control of the fight. Big crucifix slam by Greene after he super kicks her out of a crab walk for a two. Greene is getting frustrated. He hops to the top but can’t help taking some verbal shots at Ava Everett. Statlander pops to the top to land I’m Your Leader from the top, followed by a Big Bang Theory to get the pin.

Winner: Kris Statlander??My goodness, how this crowd has turned on AG. We really needed this match to solidify Greene’s new relationship with the crowd and Everett ahead of his clash at New Year’s with Josh Briggs. Statlander using a lot of his old goofy style against him was a nice touch here that maybe this new direction won’t give him the wins that he clearly wants.

It’s time to crown the winner of 2019’s Tournament for Tomorrow and the final is a clash between a current and former member of Club Cam!

Match 7: Christian Casanova vs “The Air Pod God” Richard Holliday (w/ Cam Zagami)

Holliday has the size advantage but Casanova is hitting some flashy high-impact offense to keep his former teammate at bay. Casanova gets caught off the top and Holliday is stomping him out. Casanova fights back but eats a big boot for a two. Casanova up with strikes and a cool springboard hangman’s leg drop. Holliday with a spine buster but reversed into a ddt. Corkscrew cutter and Holliday kicks out. Casanova going for a codebreaker but Holliday slams his down. Spine buster for two! Holliday wants the Market Crash but Casanova frustratingly stays ahead of it. Holliday hits a destroyer but Casanova pops back with a codebreaker. Both laid out. They battle to the top, Holliday hits a corkscrew neck breaker from the top for a two. Casanova with a trio of Dirty Diana tilt a whirl slams and a top rope leg drop for the pin.

Winner: Christian Casanova

FANTASTIC. Great speed vs size match between these two. Holliday looked strong here, taking several high impact moves in a row to finally stay down. Zagami stayed the hell out of this one, improbably…..ah, yes. Now Zagami is trying to take credit for Casanova’s win as a victory for the Club. Casanova settles that with a springboard clothesline and an emphatic “F*** Club Cam”. He says as tournament winner, he deserves a match at New Year’s….and he’s calling out Tony Deppen! Yes please.

Match 8: WARHORSE(c) vs “The B***h Destroyer” Josh Briggs (for the IWTV Championship)

WARHORSE is on the cusp of breaking Tracy Williams’ previous record of 17 consecutive title defenses. Briggs is out and looks ALL BUSINESS tonight. WARHORSE struggles to get Briggs down, as the big man absorbs several dropkicks, lariats and a cactus clothesline. Briggs gets planted on the apron and double stomped to the outside but it’s short lived as he turns on the backbreaker faucet. Briggs faked out on the rope and is sent back out, WARHORSE following with a dive. Big top rope dropkick for a two count. Briggs with an inverted suplex slam and he’s starting to work over the champ. Briggs tries to slow the pace down but WARHORSE uses the time to recover and hits several lariats, that finally break down the big man. Big boot to the back of the head and spin cycle knee from Briggs. Briggs goes for a big boot but WARHORSE catches it and picks him up into a bomb. Anthony Greene is out here to….cheer on Briggs? Half and half suplex from WARHORSE and Briggs barely kicks out. WARHORSE heads to the top and Briggs chokeslams him off. WOW! (This was a VERY GOOD CHOKESLAM). WARHORSE looks out. Briggs going for the cover but notices Greene at ringside. Ava Everett out to argue with Greene up on the apron. Briggs tries to boot Greene but AG pulls Ava in the way. Greene runs out of the room. Briggs, concerned for his friend, tends to Ava on the outside and carries her out of the room to safety while Ref Quinn counts him out.

Winner: WARHORSE (by Countout)

Arrrrrrrgh. This match was going great and Greene had to stick his nose in it! Briggs abandons the match to help his friend, the crowd didn’t like that finish and I bet WARHORSE didn’t want to break Hot Sauce’s record this way. Again, this was good action right through but the story here was the finish.

Main Event: Chris Dickinson vs Ricky Shane Page (non-title match)

We’re live on IWTV AND FITE TV! GCW Champ RSP and Dickinson feel each other out to start, trading holds and pin attempts. Dickinson locks in an early figure four but RSP gets the rope. RSP surprises with a crucifix pin attempt and a disrespectful middle finger, that the Dirty Daddy promptly bites. Dickinson showing some lucha moves as they battle to the outside briefly. Page with a backdrop and just drops Dickinson to the mat like a sack of crap. Dickinson tries to fire back up with kicks but RSP is showing some of his own. Dickinson whiffs the spinning kick and hurts his knee, which prevents a springboard attempt later. His second wind kicks in as Dickinson hits lariats and a DVD for a two count. RSP with a rope walk springboard frog splash! Wow! Kick out! Deadlift German suplex from Dickinson and a lariat for a two count! RSP with a cutter but Dickinson cuts him off at top with a brain buster and falcon arrow for a two count. The ring mat has noticeably broken as the Legit Legends swarm the ring to beat on Chris Dickinson ahead of their New Year’s throw down. Pinkie out to make the save but Chuck is beating them both down.

Winner: Chris Dickinson (by DQ)

Chuck O’Neil on the mic saying Dickinson has no friends left to save him and the Legit Legends run this territory now. Lights out.

“YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEOW!”??Lights up. It’s JAKA!!!!!!!!!

The crowd (as well as Crockett and Bakabella on commentary) pop huge for this. The Savage Jaka has made his return to rejoin his Team Pazuzu compatriots! He wipes out Garrini and Ku. Dickinson and Jaka set up Chuck for the electric chair choke bomb but he squirms out. Looks like Team Pazuzu has their trio for New Year’s against the Legit Legends! What a moment!

And that’s it’s for Uncharted Territory Season 2! While it can be unsatisfying to have both your last two matches go to a non-finish, they were coupled with some great story moments that are getting paid off in a few days time. But that’s the story of this show: MOMENTS. Casanova winning the tournament. Briggs and Greene heating up further. WARHORSE becoming the most fighting champion in IWTV history. SLADE taking the Discovery Gauntlet and throwing down one of his own. THE RETURN OF F*****G JAKA! Tonight did a hell of a job in setting up New Year’s for the big show that it has been building to be. I’ll have more to say about Season 2 in a future post, likely so we’ll leave it here for now and get ready for some absolute carnage on Tuesday Night. And I still need to figure out what to bring for that Fans Bring the Weapons Match. Until next time!
