WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN TONIGHT: THE 2019 WWE TLC TIP SHEET

By Mike Johnson on 2019-12-14 17:09:00

The much anticipated WWE TLC PPV takes place Sunday night.  Here is our take one what we see happening on the show.

Universal Champion Bray Wyatt vs. The Miz (non-Title match)

Dave: Generally when they make a non-Title match, the challenger should get the win, especially when the champion brings his family into it.  That would then lead to a Title match.  Since it's Bray Wyatt and not The Fiend wrestling (I know, it makes no sense to me either), maybe that is what they will have happen and Miz can get a Title match against the killer at The Royal Rumble.  I was kidding above when I said this show is highly anticipated.  It's anything but that.  It's kind of fitting that this is a non-Title match and that the persona that won the Title isn't even wrestling.  It's sums up how important this show is very neatly.  It's  a shame too because I am sure the talent will work really hard and take some big bumps.  WWE creative let them down with how they promoted this event, or better yet how they didn't.

Mike:  It's non-title so I can see Miz win, but then the lights go out, turn red and when they come back on The Fiend is wiping Miz out.  I'd rather have Bray keep winning, but since this seems to be a placeholder anyway until they get to Wyatt and Daniel Bryan, it only makes sense to turn it into some sort an angle.

Richard:  Instead of fighting for the title, Miz is fighting for the fans and Daniel Bryan’s importance to the WWE.  I did like this week when The Funhouse Creatures were with Monroe.  Bray has been booked like an unbeatable monster so what does Miz have to do to win?  Does he go with the Bray method when he beat Cena and have his daughter distract Bray to allow the win?  Do we see Daniel Bryan show up during the match?

Roman Reigns vs. King Corbin (Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match)

Dave: The man had dog food dumped on his body last week.  Unless they are telling a long term story here, Roman should get revenge here and move on to his Mania season program.

Mike: This has to end with Roman spearing and killing Corbin, and then dumping a can of dog food on his face.  I don't see this as a long term story, but as a bridge to get Roman through the end of the year, it was fine.

Richard:  Roman should win this match, but when it comes to Baron Corbin, when I think they will zig, they give me too much Baron Corbin.  Baron will have his merry band of misfits at his beck and call and with the TLC stipulation anything goes.  After the kitchen sink gets thrown at Roman (probably metaphorically, but maybe literally), Roman pulls out the win.  Maybe Roman spears Corbin off the ladder through a table for the win.

SmackDown Tag Team Champions The New Day vs. The Revival (Ladder Match)

Dave: Logic says that the champs retain since they just got the belts back but I could see Corbin and Dolph Ziggler getting involved and costing New Day the titles after what happened on Smackdown.

Mike:  I was thinking about the interference as well...then Roman and New Day could do eight man tags with Revival added to Corbin's group.  I could see Revival getting the belts back here and end up cast as Corbin's muscle.

Richard:  The one thing that I am looking forward to seeing in this match will not take place during the match but during the introductions.  I hope Big E does his homage to Dash Wilder’s entrance on Smackdown.  This should be a great match and could be the best match on the show because of the chemistry these two teams have.  I think the New Day will retain.

Rusev vs. Bobby Lashley (Tables Match)

Dave: I hope Rusev wins definitively so this insipid feud ends, but my gut feeling is that Lashley will win so it can continue.

Mike: My guess is Rusev gets put through the table after Lana distracts her "ex-husband" to allow Lashley to escape being smashed through.  My real question is whether Lana channels Francine in ECW and gets put through a table in order for Rusev to get a big pop and some of his heat back after the loss.   Then, Lana can press charges and have him arrested, again, because WWE seems to want to keep going that route.

Richard:  The next step on the road to CM Punk’s booking of this feud takes place on Sunday.  This is one of the few feuds that make me shake my head at the wrestling aspect as well as the ‘real world’ issues covered in the feud because it touches close to home because of my job.  Can someone file an injunction to keep this match from happening?   Rusev wins because someone has to.

WWE Women's Tag Team Champions The Kabuki Warriors vs. Raw Women's Champion Becky Lynch & Charlotte Flair (Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match)

Dave: I could definitely see the makeshift team losing to the champions, laying down the seeds for them to have a singles match down the road at WrestleMania.  With that said, knowing how Vince books, he could have them win the Titles to set up the Title match. I am enjoying the Warriors as champs.  It's too soon to take the belts off of them but we shall see.

Mike: This should be one of the best things on the show.  The Kabuki Warriors have been a welcome addition to the Raw brand in recent weeks.  Lynch and Flair are great and we'll obviously see this get some time, some violence and some crazy bumps.  I would actually have a miscue between Flair and Becky lead to Becky getting pinned, because you can never go wrong with Flair vs. Lynch and it'll allow Becky something to avenge.  I don't see the long-term good of a title switch here, although it will get a massive pop.

Richard:  One of the challengers lost a handicap match against the champs and the other won by DQ so it makes so much sense this match is going to happen.  If the title is going to be hung above the ring, they should do a spot where Charlotte or Becky spit mist into Asuka’s face to force her off the ladder to allow the title change.  I don’t see The Kabuki Warriors walking out of this show as the champions.  Let the ‘strange bedfellows’ title reign begin . . . again.

Aleister Black vs. Buddy Murphy

Dave: I really like both of these guys and wish they were wrestling other people so that they could both win.  Black is so, so unique and WWE hasn't gotten anywhere close to what they can out of him so I have him go over here and then really start to push him hard.

Mike: I am with Dave in that I want to see each of these talents used in a far greater capacity.  Black has an aura that is unique and could easily be a star that draws you money.  Murphy is a throwback to the old school working heel in the Intercontinental title class sense - a Ted DiBiase or a Curt Hennig and while I see Black winning here, Murphy should be allowed to shine a bit by kicking out several times and taking the fight to Black before being pinned.

Richard:  They should have this match inside Black’s room, but at least have a callback to the Goldberg days when Doug Dillinger would knock on Bill’s door.  This time, Black hears the door knock and he attacks that person.  This should be a good match if they give it time.  Black should win the match but I don’t see Murphy being hurt due to the loss.

Raw Tag Team Champions The Viking Raiders to issue open challenge at WWE TLC this Sunday.

Dave: They just beat The Street Profits easily on Raw.  Unless the Profits are going to come back and give them a real match, whoever steps up here should just be fodder for the champions.

Mike: Unless they are going to do a Smackdown or NXT team showing up, there's no wat the Raiders should lose to anyone.

Richard: Maybe this will be the match where we see the Viking Raiders have a match that goes more than 10 minutes and showcases the talents of Erik and Ivar.  If they are going to go with a team on the Raw roster, I hope they use Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson (maybe they can put AJ Styles in a match on the PPV as well [along with Nakamura, Cesaro, Bayley, and more people who are for some reason not in a match at this time]).  I am worried that they might do a rematch of the match on Raw with the Street Profits, but since they dispatched the hosts of Monday Night Laughs so easily, it shouldn’t happen.  It is a shame that they are not on Raw because they could get a good home town pop for Curtis Axel, but a match with the B Team would be a 2 minute effort.  Does WWE think out of the box and put a team not on Raw in the match?
