CHANGING WWE TITLE BELTS, JIM CROCKETT PROMOTIONS, LIGER'S FINAL OPPONENT AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2019-11-16 10:00:00

Why does WWE insist on continuing to change the look and colors of their title belts?

In some cases, it is to reflect the character holding the belt.  In some cases, it's felt that the title needs a new, contemporary look.  In some cases, it's an excuse to sell a new replica belt.

Hypothetical question for you guys: The downfall of Jim Crockett Promotions has been fairly well documented over the years. A lot of common mistakes that sped up the death. If someone would've prevented some or all of those mistakes, would Vince McMahon still find a way to wipe them out?

It's impossible to say what would have happened, but Ric Flair has often said that if the company had stayed East of the Mississipi River, nothing would have killed Crockett Promotions.  He may be right.  The company just stretched themselves too thin, locking themselves into contracts with balloon payments they couldn't meet and buying territories they could have just let die and then moved into.  At the end of the day, the WWF had proven themselves to be the top branded company, so they were going to get the attention, the sponsorships, the licensing, etc. and at the end of the day, it was probably just a matter of time.

Why did the :"Toys that Made Us" keep calling ECW Eastern Championship Wrestling when the toy line wasn't for that version of ECW, but Extreme Championship Wrestling?

Beats me!  Someone didn't catch the mistake and let it stand.

Who, in your opinion, performed the best Tiger Mask?

I think for most people, the answer will be the first version that you personally saw.  For me, I have to go with the original Satoru Sayama.  He set the bar in my opinion.

Do you think Jushin Liger will stay retired?  Who should his last opponent be?

You never know what a pro wrestler will do, but I hope he does, as long as that makes him happy.  He's given enough to pro wrestling and will continue to do so behind the scenes.    I still feel his final opponent should be Will Ospreay.
