BALOR TALKS AND MORE: WWE AFTER THE BELL PODCAST RECAP

By Paul Jordan on 2019-11-13 10:33:00

The latest episode of "After The Bell with Corey Graves" is now available.

The show opens with Corey discussing still being out of it a little bit due to jet lag due to international travel.  He then talks about the Survivor Series coming up and how he is excited for all the matchups that have been announced mentioning the Nakamura versus AJ Styles versus Roderick Strong matchup. Corey said the match has him buzzing Graves states, however, he does miss the days of rivalry based matches.  The SmackDown Live commentator pontificates on whether WWE fans actually have a brand they favor over the other.  Graves states that he understands NXT has a niche following but do Raw or SmackDown?  He then says Survivor Series has turned into WWE's version of the NFL Pro Bowl.  He theorizes that maybe there should be more stakes on the event as a whole, suggesting a few ideas.  One being, the winning brand would receive the number 30 spot in the Royal Rumble.  Another idea would see the winning brand maybe get the main event and next year's Wrestlemania.  He just wants there to be some sort of stakes in all this.

Graves again states that he is excited for the Champion versus Champion matches but also states maybe it's time to unify them, pointing out that in the case of Nakamura versus Strong versus AJ Styles while it will be a good match all titles do cover the same geographic region.  Graves says maybe he is getting old but there are way too many championships nowadays to keep track of.

Corey goes on to say that the reason why he says all this is the event has kind of lost its luster with multi-man tag matches being more prevalent on television.  He knows the roster can make something special if given time and creativity.

Graves then speaks on Friday's Smackdown tag team title change saying while he's a fan of The Revival he thinks that this is a good thing for the tag team division with The New Day at the helm. He says that this is great for Kofi Kingston and while not as prestigious as the WWE Champion, it is an important role. Corey states that he thinks this could be a breakout moment for Big E down the line. Graves is not advocating for a breakup of the trio. Corey Graves thinks that with the experience Big E has garnered over the last few years he could have a really nice singles run than when he first entered the company.

Then we hear an interview with Roman Reigns. Corey and The Big Dog discuss the crazy travel schedule for the last few months and balancing family duties. They talk about the importance of the locker room bringing each other up when they are feeling well. Reigns discusses trying to enjoy the good moments. Corey then asked him about the duties of being a locker room leader and what that entails. Roman states it's about keeping a level head when things go haywire and being a role model. Graves then brings up Seth Rollins interactions with friends online in which Reigns states that talked about a little. Roman states Rollins knows what he's doing 1000%. Reigns says you want the audience a little polarized in order for them to have a reaction. He says everyone respects Rollins for his in-ring ability and there's no one better.

Roman talks about the evolution of Baron Corbin saying that something clicked when the King of the Ring cut off his hair. He says many in the locker room are just a few steps away from something special. Reigns talks about the evolution of John Cena, Steve Austin and Dwayne Johnson being the same way. It's all about consistency and delivering night after night. It's an everyday job. When asked about what's next. He talks about just the interaction with the crowd and time with coworkers. Those special moments out of the ring are the moments he chases. He just wants to pay back the locker room and the company create new superstars.

He wants to blow up the relationship with Fox in a much bigger and better way.

Corey then moves on to Raw talk about Randy Orton re-signing with WWE. Graves talks Raw happenings. He puts over an NXT UK Champion Walter this past Monday. Graves says he wants Walter and Rollins to have a true one-on-one showdown. He discusses seeing Flash Morgan Webster make his Raw debut. The former Savior of Misbehavior is frustrated with the booking of the Viking Raiders. Bringing up his past with the former Rowe on the independent same. Graves hopes that the Raw tag team champions will get an opportunity to show everybody what they can do. He then moves on to talk about the latest in the Lana-Bobby Lashley-Rusev storyline stating that all involved need to go back to their previous personas.  But Graves says the segments have been some of the highest-rated on social media. So maybe Graves is missing the boat.

Graves says maybe it's just not his flavor of ice cream. Maybe more people like car crashes. He compares it to porn without the payoff. He is just confused by the whole thing.

We then hear Graves discuss the first women's Wargames and how the women's roster is stacked putting over the top names

The Finn Balor interview is next. Corey and Finn open discussing how their careers, just missed each other. Finn talks about taking time away and getting a refresher, getting married and finding a new perspective. On his time through the main roster saying that he was probably mostly to blame for not speaking his mind and just going with the flow. He says the creative freedom on the independent scene is much different than the WWE structure. The former NXT Champion states he's not going to have anyone tell him what to do anymore. If they like it great if not, he doesn't care. Balor talks about learning the WWE style on television in front of the world. He says he is more confident than ever that he is probably the most well-traveled person in WWE. Corey asks about what Finn likes about NXT. The Irishman puts over the schedule. When asked about what are his plans. He says the black and gold brand is not competing with any other roster but themselves. The former Universal Champion talks about being able to work and come home shutting off what happened at work. Not fretting about everything. He talks about a story with Dusty Rhodes and his driver's license.

Finn talks about trying to find balance and get a handle on time with travel being one of the main reasons he took time off. The Demon King discusses names he would like to face. Corey and Finn discuss a possible Bullet Club reunion. The answer is Finn is skeptical on whether fans will enjoy it. Balor states that he doesn't want to necessarily go to previous things he wants to create something new. Finn says he doesn't think he's a d**k, but he likes being a heel. He is way more comfortable.
