By Adam Cardoza on 2019-10-12 18:03:00

Beyond Wrestling “Sodom & Gomorrah”

10/12/19 Asbury Park, NJ

Beyond’s doing a double header today with GCW from Asbury Park’s House of Independents! In the main event, Orange Cassidy looks to reclaim his IWTV championship from Warhorse Jake Parnell. I’m watching live on IWTV. Your commentary team today is the voice of Beyond, Paul Crockett and GCW’s Emil Jay.

Match 1: Kimber Lee vs Wheeler Yuta

Kimber attacks during Yuta’s entrance. She’s beating him pillar to post, fueled by a clear rage towards Kris Statlander. Yuta keeps trying to fight back but Kim is all over him. She wants the win, leaving him for dead outside the ring. She clearly has him beat shortly after with a senton but screams at him to get back up instead of going for the pin. She tries to hit Statlander’s “I’m Your Leader” electric chair facebuster but Yuta rolls through and gets the pin.

Winner: Wheeler Yuta

Kim was highly motivated. Yuta took a big beating. I loved the story told here. Looks like Lee ain’t done with Statlander and Yuta has strung a pair of wins together this week.

Match 2: Alex Reynolds & VSK (w/ Smart Mark Sterling) vs Bear Country (Bear Bronson & Bear Beefcake)

Big bears are big and Reynolds/VSK need to dig into their bag of tricks. Hopefully the ring stays intact. They isolate Bronson and tie him to the second rope, getting a ton of damage in. Bronson finally escapes, Beefcake with the hot tag. They go for the elevator drop splash but Reynolds rolls out. Bronson with a suicide dive and Beefcake with a moonsault. VSK kicks out. VSK with a Spanish fly on Bronson but Beefcake’s got a big boot waiting for him. Reynolds planted with a spine buster and goes for the elevator drop again. VSK catches Bronson with a cutter on the way down. Wow! Beefcake throw to the corner and they gang on Bronson. Reynottries throwing a fireball at Bronson but hits VSK instead. The Bears got the elevator drop on Reynolds to finally get the win.

Winners: Bear Country

Reynolds and VSK look resilient and crafty here as Bear Country keeps working towards their big finish. But this isn’t the team that will cleanly fell the Aces of Beyond’s tag division.

Match 3: “The Ovaltine Dream” Thomas Santell vs Ken Doane (w/ Club Cam)

Doane is trying to fight fans as usual. Santell lets him go for it but attacks, holds him back for a couple of fans to administer chops to Doane’s chest. Back in the ring, Santell is stretching the hothead of Club Cam. Interference from the outside allows Ken to get some big shots in. Doane puts the bird in Santell’s face but gets wrapped in the sugar hold. A bunch of distractions and Santell gets poked in the eye and rolled up for the win.

Winner: Ken Doane

Good story here. As always, Santell is the superior mat wrestler but this was all about the numbers game of Club Cam. Santell pops up and attacks Doane post match but Club Cam swarms. Chris Dickinson runs down to make the save and start his matchup with Club Cam’s Christian Casanova. The ref immediately kicks Cam, Sharp and Doane out of the building. Casanova looks terrified.

Match 4: “The Dirty Daddy” Chris Dickinson vs “Top Talent” Christian Casanova

Dickinson is laying in the strikes and kicks to start but Casanova ejects him from the ring. Commentators putting over Dickinson’s wild schedule this past week and Casanova exploiting a worn down Filthy Father. Casanova takes advantage and starts working over the Dirty Daddy. Dickinson taking a beating but hits a big lariat to get back into the fight. A flurry of clotheslines and a DVD for a near fall. Casanova tries to string some moves together but eats a huge kick to the face for a two count. Dickinson goes backstage and returns with a door. Casanova tries to fight the inevitable but gets backdropped through that door for the pin.

Winner: Chris Dickinson!

Dickinson continues running through the members of Club Cam. Casanova looked good here while Dickinson was on the defensive for much of this. Club Cam is out here. Zagami looks like he just ejected Casanova from the group. After all, this club isn’t for losers.

Match 5: “The Meat Man” John Silver vs Erick Stevens

Let’s see if Eddie Kingston’s words from Uncharted Territory stuck in Silver’s head. A technical chess match to start this off but Silvers gets to those trademark chest kicks. Silver gets caught in midair to a powerslam. Stevens tries to sub the Raw Dog. Trading chops and kicks until Silver is ejected and eats a dive. Stevens backdrops Silver to the apron. Stevens goes for that Choochoo running clothesline but Silver lawn darts him to the second turnbuckle. Kick to the back of the head and a spin out powerbomb for a near fall. Stevens with a backslide but Silver with a furry of kicks. Stevens with a DVD and a two count. Both up on the top rope, Stevens tries for a DVD but Silver rana’s him off. Stevens tossed Silver to the corner, hits the choochoo clotheslines and a gutwrench powerbomb but a close two count. Silver kicks out! Silver with a crucifix Bomb and a running knee to the head and Stevens stays down.

Winner: John Silver

Fantastic hard hitting fight here. Silver on the mic. He calls Nick Gage out to the ring. The king is here! Silver reminds everyone that at Uncharted Territory, Gage offered a rare handshake and Silver walked past it. Silver offers his apologies, thanks Gage for kicking his ass and shakes his hand. Is this the new motivated John Silver? We’ll see.

Match 6: “The King” Nick Gage vs “The Queen of Crazy” Addy Starr

Addy Starr hasn’t been in a Beyond ring since 2012. What a return match to get! Gage doesn’t bother waiting for Starr to get her intro and blindsides her. Gage is already throwing boards and chairs into the ring with the Queen of Crazy. Addy put through the board and Gage hits an elbow onto the remnants of it after. Starr dodges a clothesline and hits a double knee through a chair onto Gage. Have going for another board but Addy hits a crossbody into it. Starr dropping axe kicks to Gage’s back. They wrestle over a chair but Starr hits a catch suplex. He goes for the chokebreaker but eats a headbutt. Sliding elbow through a chair by Addy. Gage with a ONE WINGED ANGEL but Starr kicks out. Big superplex and falcon arrow but Starr kicks out. Gage going for the face wash but eats a chair to the face. Starr suplexes Gage through the board. Kick out! Double stomp onto the wood but Gage is up at one! Starr hits Gage with the wood but he grabs it and boasts her over the head several times, hits the chokebreaker but Starr kicks out! Starr back up but Gage hits a piledriver into a chair and Addy Starr finally stays down.

Winner: Nick Gage

This was the crazy train wreck it promised to be. Gage pulls up Starr to offer his respect. I want more Addy Starr in 2019 Beyond. Please make this happen, Denver Colorado.

(Intermission)

Match 7: Eric Corvis vs Alex Zayne vs Steve West vs Tony Deppen vs Daniel Makabe vs Johnny Cockstrong (Backyard Wrestling Summit six-way scramble)

What an interesting mix of wild wrestlers from Beyond’s past, present and future. Cockstrong tries to bully his opponents with his penis. They hit him with the Spirit Squad slam to send him down. This is just chaos. Highlights include: West blowing snot into Cockstrong’s shorts, Corvis with a lion tamer/surfboard combo on Zayne and West, Makabe using Cockstrong to trap Deppen in a triangle choke, Zayne hitting a shooting star double knee to break up this human sub-tipede, Deppen with a springboard coffin drop to the outside. Cockstrong hits the GTC on Corvis. Makabe wraps Deppen into a slick cattle mutilator but Zayne and Corvis break that up. Corvis with a shoulderbreak and piledrive on Deppen for a near fall. Zayne with a taco driver on Cockstrong for a two count. West with a cradle Canadian but Deppen hits a kick to the face and sneaks the pin.

Winner: Tony Deppen

Just a big ol’ spotfest. This was a lot of fun. Zayne has shined in Beyond already.

Match 8: The Butcher & The Blade (Andy Williams & Pepper Parks) vs Team Tremendous (Dan Barry & Bill Carr)

Team Tremendous is sporting a more death metal aesthetic and attitude tonight as they attack right at the entrance. They battle outside the ring until Williams hits a dive from the top. Barry is tossed inside and the bell finally rings on this contest. Backbreaker/legdrop double team on Barry as B&B get their offense machine rolling. Bill Carr tags in and Parks is taking a beat down. Team Tremendous continue the assault as Williams is held back from the tag. Parks escapes and makes the tag, Williams cleans house briefly but Carr with a huge boss man slam and slams Parks into his own partner twice for a near fall on Williams. TT goes for a moonsault LOD-style but Williams breaks it out. Carr and Williams slugging it out in the center until everyone is down. B&B up first to hit a stunner/lariat combo on Carr. Spinout rock bottom on Barry for a near fall. Parks tries to fight Barry on the ropes but Carr with a low blow, allowing Dan to hit that moonsault for the cheap win.

Winner: Team Tremendous

I like Team Tremendous’ new attitude as they brought the fight to Beyond’s resident badass tag team. Solid tag fight here. Butcher and Blade always look believably rough and tumble but I’m waiting for that standout absolute vicious beatdown I know they have in them.

Match 9: Kris Statlander vs “The One Man Militia” Matthew Justice

Last time we saw Matthew Justice, he got Pazuzu bombed off a stage in Worcester by Chris Dickinson. They go back and forth with reversals to start but Statlander gets snake eyed and clotheslined over the top. She fights back with the boomerang moonsault. He dodges a moonsault and hits a huge spear on the Alien. Trading shots, Statlander gets chopped in the face. Whoops. Driver from the top rope and Statlander kicks out. Justice throwing more chops but Statlander hits an electric chair drop from the top and follows up with a 450, Justice out at one. “F*** you Kris, kill me” he says. Statlander going for the finish....but Kimber Lee is at ringside and hits a kick to the head, allowing Justice to hit the Arms of Justice tonic for the pin.

Winner: Matthew Justice

Kimber Lee is DEFINITELY not done with Kris Statlander. Justice is shocked at the revelation that this victory wasn’t clean. Good fight here but Kim spoiled a brutal definitive finish. The question for me is: How does Beyond pay this off in a manner better than Americanrana did?

Main Event: Warhorse(c) vs Orange Cassidy (for the IWTV Championship)

Cassidy lost the IWTV championship to Erick Stevens during the Black Label Pro Turbograps 16 tournament last month. Warhorse, the eventual tournament winner has been on a tear, making 4 defenses in that time. Cassidy wants his belt back....in so much as Cassidy can look like he really really really wants something. The sunglasses are off right away. Hands in pockets breaks down early. Cassidy misses the mist. Cassidy is on fire right off the bat! Leaping DDT from the top and a two count. Cassidy working over the arm and shoulder, twisting and tearing, hitting a big suplex for a two count. Warhorse fires back with a missile dropkick and a trio of German suplexes. Cassidy goes back to the well of goofs and slow chops. Warhorse hits a real one and Cassidy hits a flurry of real chops, kicks, punches, knees and a Michanoku driver for a near fall. Goes for an armbar and Warhorse is panting as he makes the rope. Warhorse wants more and Orange stomps him out and hits a running corner dropkick. Warhorse with a spinning powerslam and half Nelson suplex. Warhorse struggles with his injured arm for a running liger Bomb but makes it for a two count. Warhorse going for a superplex but Cassidy tears at the fingers again and hits a piledriver slam from the top for a two. Cassidy has the juice but runs into a lariat. Warhorse with another big lariat but Cassidy kicks out. Cassidy hits the juice mist but Warhorse with a rollup attempt. Cassidy locks in a deeeeeeep armbar but Warhorse fights out. Another huge lariat and a double stomp to Cassidy’s back finishes the former champ off.

Winner: Warhorse

FAN-DAMN-TASTIC. This was really good. I love Cassidy goofball schtick but the pace at which this match went to so quickly showed just how much that title meant to the slackadaisical one. Orange cared about this one and it showed. Warhorse picks up a solid victory over a very resilient former champion. Go out of your way to watch this one, ESPECIALLY if all you know of Cassidy’s ring work is some goofball gifs you saw on the internet.

If the cards fell differently for me this weekend, I’d have made the trek to NJ for this one. Seeing it live was nice but kinda sad to miss this in person. Good story beats that are absolutely coming into play on Uncharted Territory next week. Silver/Stevens, Gage/Starr and the main should be your must watched from this show. Definitely want to see more Addy Starr & Daniel Makabe in Beyond’s future. I want to know how Kim thinks she’ll beat Kris Statlander this time (or maybe this IS the definition of insanity). There’s a lot of great matchups in Warhorse’s future and Wheeler Yuta looks to be one of them. Will Cam Zagami completely expose himself by kicking all his “friends out of the club? These stories (and more) get answered this Thursday on Uncharted Territory. Until next time!
