Uncharted Territory Season 2

Episode 2 - 10/10/19

On the heels of last night’s AEW show in Lowell, Uncharted Territory S2E2 has to cash the check the first episode wrote last week. The in-ring return of Pinkie Sanchez to Beyond and a first time throwdown between The Mad King Eddie Kingston and the Man of Many Murderfaces Timothy Thatcher highlights an overall exciting card tonight.

Like last week, we’re getting a dark match ahead of air time!

Dark Match: Jordan Oliver (w/ Charlie Tiger, Griffin McElroy & Ellis Taylor) vs SLADE

Oliver wants nothing to do with the intense ex-con Slade. Slade catches the youngster and beats him up. Oliver feigns and injury allowing the rest of Young Dumb & Broke to strike. Slade takes them all out and Oliver hits a dive to take the advantage. Yakuza kick to the back of the head off a distraction and a pedigree from top but Slade kicks out. Slade pops up and hits a version of the Samoan Spike to get the pin. YDNB swarms after the pin but Slade sends them all packing.

Winner: Slade

Fun opener. Slade being THAT much of a badass in the face of the numbers odds was bizarrely satisfying. I like YDNB from CZW so this was a welcome surprise.

And we’re liiiiiiiiive! Nick Gage is out here to issue an open challenge to kick this off! John Silver answers the call!

Match 1: Nick Gage vs John Silver

Silver was a thick (in the head) boy and flips off Gage during his intro. Gage attacks immediately. Gage is outside grabbing a door and Silver dives right into the damn thing! Meat man laying in stiff kicks as he takes Gage around the ringside area. Silver gets backdropped right into a set up chair. Silver fights back and tries working the shoulder of Gage with stomps and a kimura. Gage reverse la the attack with a DDT and a chair assisted face wash. Silver flips out of the chokebreaker and hits a lawn dart to the 2nd rope. Spin out torture rack powerbomb for a near fall. Gage getting hyped up after more chest kicks from Silver. Spine buster and piledriver from Gage. He goes for the chokebreaker again but Silver reverses into an arm bar. Silver drops knees as Gage makes the rope and grabs a door. Gage is slammed through the door, followed by a double stomp through some remnants. Gage kicks out! Silver is setting up chairs and a door in the ring as a makeshift table. Silver pulls Gage to the top, looks to be going for a powerbomb. Gage fights off, hits a top rope piledriver through the door table. Gage finally hits the chokebreaker and gets the pin on a very game John Silver

Winner: Nick Gage

Gage goes for a handshake but a frustrated Silver (coming off losses to Alex Reynolds and Kimber Lee) just storms off. Good match overall. Gage took a great beating here. Little sour on the repetitive finish through the same hardware as last week but overall, solid work.

Match 2: “The Man of Steel” Mike Verna & “The Pectoral Poseidon” Rex Lawless vs Bear Country (Bear Bronson & Bear Beefcake)

This is a big beefy boys match. Bear Country is great but I’m pretty excited for the Closers to make their Uncharted Territory debut! Beefcake and Lawless kick it off but the big bear is too much power. Verna and Bronson go to war but it devolves fast, Beefcake hitting a ground shaking backdrop to Lawless. Bear Country going for the LOD finish but Verna suplexes Bronson off the top while in the electric chair. Beefcake with a Samoan drop/DDT combo to the Closers to set up the electric chair splash to Verna, who takes the pin.

Winners: Bear Country

Hell yeah. This was a good hoss fight. Great to see Verna and Lawless here again. Lots of potentially great matchups for them on the horizon. Bears on the mic. The Aces of Beyond’s tag division have unfinished business with a lot of tag teams running around right now.....and they want to fight them all.

Match 3: DL Hurst vs Chuck O’Neil

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

(Chuck is on the mic and welcomes himself back to Uncharted Territory. He reminds everyone that he had the fastest submission and knockout on the show last season. He’s upset DL Hurst got an IWTV title shot before he did. He’s here to make a statement. The crowd is here to boo this man.) BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Chuck’s aggressive on the get go but Hurst sends him to the outside. A smart kick to the leg and Chuck’s dropped down to eat a dive. Hurst is swarming but gets caught in a backbreaker and O’Neil is stomping out the arm and shoulder of DL. Hurst tries time fire back but a high kick to the arm and a German suplex sends him down for a near fall. More kicks from O’Neil and Hurst gets hot. He’s angry and tries to land some effective clotheslines and suplexes with his one good arm. Chuck up top and Hurst throws him off. Near fall. Hurst up for a moonsault but Chuck flapjacks him off there for a two count. Hurst is exhausted and Chuck throws some strikes to his face again. Hurst battles back and goes for another moonsault. Chuck dodges and Hurst lands on his previously injured foot. O’Neil quickly slaps on an ankle hold and Hurst immediately taps out.

Winner: BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO(Chuck O’Neil)BOOOOOOOOOO

Good back and forth fight here. Unfortunate ending as Hurst appears to have been legitimately injured on what appears to be a board that broke on the ring. The ring crew are scrambling to fix this while Richard Holliday comes out to make a bad situation even worse by having a live mic.

He conducts a market research survey with members of the ringside audience. He’s a jerk to everyone. Eventually (as the ring is repaired) Angel Sinclair is out to face off with Holliday in the first matchup of a unique 8-person match.

Match 4: Retrosexual Anthony Greene, Josh Briggs & The Platinum Hunnies (Ava Everett & Angel Sinclair) vs Club Cam (Christian Casanova, Ken Doane, Richard Holliday & Cam Zagami)

The rules here: 4v4 elimination match. All teammates are barred from ringside until their teammate in the ring is eliminated.

Sinclair vs Holliday starts this off. Holliday is being a bully while he toys with Angel. Angel lands a kick and whips Holliday into a stink face. She goes for another but Holliday slaps her and hits a corkscrew neckbreaker for the pin.

Holliday vs Ava Everett is next. Holliday asks if she saw what happened to Sinclair and offers her a chance to escape. She hits a big boot and a roll up for a near fall. Ava has amazing crazy eyes as she attacks Holliday in the corner. Holliday with another strike and a corkscrew neckbreaker but he pulls the pin at two. He hits a gut wrench powerbomb and stacks the pin to get the three.

Holliday vs Anthony Greene is next. He’s pissssssssed after what happened to the Platinum Hunnies. Holliday tries to cheat a pin but Greene hits a suplex and gets the pin.

Greene vs Ken Doane is next. Greene almost slips a rollup as soon as Ken hits the ring. Greene tries every fast pin attempt he’s got. Greene goes for a sunset flip pin attempt but Doane stacks him up and holds the rope to get the three.

Doane vs Josh Briggs is next. This doesn’t last long as Briggs hits Doane once and Ken is done.

Briggs vs Christian Casanova is up. Casanova goes for some fast offense but Briggs is slamming right through it. Casanova looks game, flipping out of a chokeslam attempt. He spits in Briggs’ face on another. Casanova hits a big double knee on a powerbomb attempt. Cam out to distract while Briggs hits a powerbomb on Casanova. Thomas Sharpe hits the ring and big boots Briggs while the ref is dealing with Zagami. Casanova rolls up Briggs and that’s that.

Winners and Sole Survivors: Christian Casanova & Cam Zagami

Club Cam has a new member in Thomas Sharpe and this faction’s story continues on. This was all story as Greene and Briggs get screwed out of more victories. Who can stop the surging Club Cam? I do want a full Casanova/Briggs throwdown at some future point.

Match 5: Wheeler Yuta vs Ace Austin

Fast action from the get go. Austin doesn’t let up the gas until a springboard armdrag leaves Austin open to paper cut Yuta with a playing card. Eeeek. Yuta fires up but Austin shotgun dropkicks. Yuta goes for a sub but Ace with a roundhouse kick and a flatliner. Yuta with a dive as Austin goes on the retreat but Ace battles back. Yuta catches Austin into a reverse atomic drop coming off the top and wraps up a STF to get the tap.

Winner: Wheeler Yuta

Yuta needed his win back after Dickinson beat him last week. This was a quick fast paced match that re-introduced Austin to Beyond and let Yuta show another side of his wrestling chops. Good way to get him rolling back towards that IWTV title match he wants.

It’s time for the Discovery Gauntlet! You gotta win it to stay in it! Tony Deppen snuck his way into the Gauntlet last week and took the crown. Today, he faces One Called Manders.

Match 6: Tony Deppen vs One Called Manders

Deppen is proud of his 1-0 record. Manders is a big cowboy. The big cowboy overpowers the little man until Deppen blows snot on him. Manders lands some LOUUUUD chops and a shoulder tackle to keep Deppen down. Deppen dodges a running big man and takes out the legs. A senton and some clubbing blows, Deppen manages a one count. Manders with more chops, a huge backdrop and an even bigger German suplex for a two count. Deppen rolls through a powerslam and hits a double stomp. Somersault dive through the middle rope but Manders catches a second attempt into a powerslam. Trading slaps and strikes back and forth. Manders with a huge running powerslam and stacks up Deppen but Tony kicks out. Manders going for a powerbomb but Deppen rolls through to a sunset flip powerbomb. Manders outside and Deppen goes for a springboard coffin drop, Manders catches it and slams Deppen to the apron. Release powerbomb and another powerslam from the top but that madman Deppen kicks out again. Back and forth chants for both these guys. Ref bumped and distracted briefly while Deppen hits Manders with the cowbell attached to his own bull rope. Superkick and a running kick to the head finishes Manders off.

Winner: Tony Deppen

This was awesome. Surprise show stealer. Deppen is great and Manders was an absolute gem here. Deppen is on the mic to say he’s going to shove his victories in the face of everyone that said he didn’t deserve to be here. AJ Gray isn’t ready for him next week.

Match 7: Team Pazuzu (Chris Dickinson & Pinkie Sanchez) vs Milk Chocolate (Brandon Watts & Randy Summers)

Last week, Milk Chocolate was destroyed by a returning Pinkie Sanchez. Tonight they get eaten alive by the resurrection of Team Pazuzu. This starts with the stomping out of Watts by Dickinson. Pinkie’s in to club down Summers and dive right into the bulk of Milk Chocolate. “You wanted some?!?” says Dickinson as he suplexes Summers loudly to the canvas. Watts takes out Dickinson’s legs on the post while Pinkie is being held back trying to make the rescue. Milk Chocolate works over Chris’ legs while El Presidente screams helplessly from tag corner. Milk Chocolate does a great job cutting off Sanchez from the tag as they work over the Dirty Daddy. Big double backdrop and Dickinson makes the tag. The devil himself enters and lays waste to Milk Chocolate. Dickinson back to use Pinkie as a battering ram and they hit a superkick piledriver combo on Summers for a two count. Watts makes the save and Sanchez is nearly put away with a top rope axe kick/double stomp combo. Dickinson lays waste and Sanchez hits a pair of spinning back kicks to the face. Dickinson with a superplex to Summers and Sanchez finishes with a moonsault for the pin.

Winners: Team Pazuzu

Team Pazuzu is back, baby! I was surprised at how competitive this match was for Milk Chocolate, who looked pretty strong and resourceful in defeat...but nevertheless still defeated. Club Cam is out to say Milk Chocolate didn’t make the cut to get into the club. Dickinson on the mic. He says the Dirty Daddy is on a roll and on Saturday, he’s going to eat Christian Casanova for lunch.

Main Event: Eddie Kingston vs Timothy Thatcher

Kingston wants to punch Thatcher in the face. Thatcher wants to rip Kingston’s limbs off. Kingston flips off Thatcher. Thatcher tries to twist the mad king’s head off. Kingston finally gets a break and after a trade of chops, hits a big suplex. Thatcher still wants Kingston’s arm removed, sending Eddie to the outside to reset. Kingston back up and walks into a series of clubbing blows. Thatcher back to tearing at Kingston’s shoulder, landing blownafter blow to the back. Thatcher going for an arm bar as Eddie screams and tries to escape. Thatcher takes in the boos but Kingston hits a few big chops. It doesn’t last as Thatcher just keeps wearing Kingston down. Big slam? Thatcher keeps on twisting that arm. Huge lariat? Thatcher starts landing knees and a back suplex. Double underhook suplex and a armbar and a Eddie is back to the ropes again. Thatcher drags Kingston to the apron to land more strikes but Kingston pops up with a back suplex and spinning elbow for a near fall. Trading shots and chops as they get to their feet. Eddie’s on wobbly legs but goes for the big backfist. Thatcher blocks it and sinks in a deep armlock. Eddie refuses to tap and Thatcher turns it into a pin to get the three.

Winner: Timothy Thatcher

Well now. This was a return to form for the methodical predator that is Timothy Thatcher. If this was a chess match, Kingston would have been in check from the first move. A hard-hitting clinic in strong stiff violence. Considering his record in Beyond, this was a bit of an upset as Kingston was amazingly outgunned for most of this contest.

Eddie Kingston on the mic with a heartfelt message for those battling depression. If you’re feeling down, reach out. Someone in your life can help you. He thanks Thatcher for the beating and calls out John Silver. He says he’s known him forever and is sick of seeing Silver sink into sea of defeat. He hated the disrespect he showed in the first match. He tells him embrace the losses, to step up and start winning again. Silver could be the ace of Beyond wrestling if he could get out of his own way. He says Silver needs to shake his hand and be the man Eddie knows he can be. Silver chooses to hug him. Good angle here.

And that’s it for Episode 2! Beyond fought with a lot of external factors tonight keeping this show on the rails. Every match mattered here and contributed to one or more storylines in the process. Uncharted Territory continues to prove itself as worthy of your wrestling bandwidth in a VERY crowded landscape. Beyond heads to New Jersey this weekend to do a double header with GCW. I’ll be watching along on IWTV!

Next week at Uncharted Territory though, we have a couple of VERY exciting matches on deck. Butcher & Blade return to take on Team Pazuzu. Mercedes Martinez makes her Beyond debut against a returning David Starr. Yesssss! Until next time!
