Beyond Wrestling “All Hands On Deck”

9/22/19 - Paddy’s Beach Club - Westerly, RI

It’s been a long couple months since we were doing shows at a breakneck clip and Beyond Wrestling is back to close out the summer with their own bash on a beach! Today’s card is headlined by MJF’s final match on the independents, as he takes on Josh Briggs. Erick Stevens makes his return to Beyond (after a stellar match with Chris Dickinson at Uncharted Territory) against KTB. Also in non-title action with be the newly crowned IWTV Champion, Warhorse Jake Parnell! We’re out on the beach today and I’m not sure the people outside the show barricade are prepared for this. Let’s see how rusty my writing chops got in the last couple of months. Here we go!

Match 1: Alex Reynolds vs Kris Statlander

Well, today’s crowd didn’t have to go all the way to Area 51 to see an alien and they also get to boo the crap out of Alex Reynolds! Alex with a gut wrench slam and a disrespect boot to the ribs to start this off but Statlander repays in kind. Kris stays ahead of Reynolds’ offense, getting a near fall on a flip senton. Reynolds reverses an electric chair and drops the alien on the top rope. Reynolds goes to work, getting a two count on a big suplex. Rolling punch and a neckbreaker for another near fall. Statlander battles back, matrix dodge on a clothesline, running knee to the corner and a big fisherman’s Buster for a two count. She’s going for the finish but Reynolds rolls through. Powerbomb on Kris for a two count. He’s going for a pedigree but she hits the I’m Your Leader face buster. Kick out! She’s on the top but Reynolds rolls outside. He’s got something in his hand as Statlander wraps him up in a submission. VSK is out to distract! While the ref is distracted, Statlander gets dropped on the ropes and Reynolds blinds her with a fist full of sand. Statlander’s gets dropped across his knee for the three count. BOOOOOOO!

Winner: Alex Reynolds

VSK & Reynolds are looking to do more harm. NDK is out to make the save! They run Reynolds and VSK off but then their opponents, Cajun Crawdad & Merlot, attack from the ocean. Appropriate. Ring the bell!

Match 2: Cajun Crawdad & Merlok vs Nerder Death Kill (Nick Gage & Thomas Santell)

Gage is laid out on the beach and the sea monsters get a ton of heat on Santell. Gage makes it to the corner as Santell hits a huge sunset flip powerbomb on Merlok to make the tag. Face wash on Crawdad. Spine buster on Merlok. Chokebreaker on Crawdad across Santell’s knee. Santell has the sugar hold as Gage hits a spear on Merlok and Crawdad taps. That’s the pin!

Winners: NDK

Fast and furious, this was a smart way for the creatures to take advantage as they had no hope once the NDK train got rolling. And roll it did. NDK says they want the best Beyond has to offer.

Match 3: Alex Zayne vs Christian Casanova (w/ Cam Zagami)

Lots of fast action to start it off until Casanova gets tossed to the outside. Zayne flips over the ref to get a huge dive in. Springboard hangman’s legdrop from Casanova. Alex comes over the ropes for a rana but Casanova finishes the sequence with a codebreaker for a near fall. They scramble some more and zayne hits a pop up last ride for a two count. Cam starting to be a distraction and Casanova hits a ROUGH neckbreaker on the apron that he may have taken more damage from. Zayne goes for a shooting star, lands on his feet and runs into a half Nelson slam for a near fall. Zayne hits the shooting star knee stomp but Zagami distracts. Zayne tries to attack Zagami but Casanova rolls up and Zagami holds the feet to secure the three count.

Winner: Christian Casanova

Quick work that always felt right on the edge of coming unglued. Both these guys are great spot machines and Zagami continues to be the most hateable heel in Beyond.

Match 4: Erick Stevens vs KTB

Last night, Stevens briefly held the IWTV Championship before losing it to Jake Parnell in the Black Label Pro Turbo Graps 16 finals. Today, he faces a true monster in KTB. Stevens tried to go power for power but winds up shoulder tackled, corner spears and head butted for a near fall. KTB quickly sent to the outside and a tope headbutt puts him on the defensive. Face full of sand and Stevens is eating a huge moonsault from the big man. Stevens to the top but KTB throws him down for a two count. KTB going for a moonsault but gets German’d down. Flurry of elbows from Stevens and a suplex back stabber keeps Kyle the Beast down for the count.

Winner: Erick Stevens

Good fight here! KTB is always able to go to war and I can see the crowd fantasy booking a ton more matchups for Stevens in the weeks to come. Post-match, Erick Stevens calls out Warhorse Jake Parnell to a rematch for the IWTV championship right here in Beyond!

Match 5: RetroAG Anthony Greene & The Platinum Hunnies (Ava Everett & Angel Sinclair) vs Shark Boy & Team Sea Stars (Ashley Vox & Delmi Exo)

This is being contested under “beach rules”. SOMEONE’S going in ocean. Greene and Shark Boy test each other to start, though he does need some extra sunscreen applied. We get the Hey Ho full Nelson before Greene is sent scurrying for the tag to Everett. Sea Stars trap Everett in a wave but she fights out and tags Sinclair, who gets trapped in a surfboard stretch by Vox. Greene baywatch runs in slowly to break up the sub and gets decked for his “effort”. Greene makes up for it, draping Vox on the apron for an Everett legdrop to the back. Vox taking some shots from Greene, briefly trapping him in a standing kimura. Greene gets Vox down in the corner while Sinclair rubs her butt on the beach to give Ashley a Sandy Stinkface. O_O Greene misses a corner splash and Shark Boy tags in. 10 punches in the corner and a running bulldog for a two count. Sinclair gets involved but her rear gets shark bit. Double dive from the Sea Stars and this fight is spilling outside the venue down to the beach below. Sea Stars suplex the Hunnies into the ocean as Shark Boy hits a Stunner on Greene in the ring. Sea Stars run back to hits a senton across the knees and Greene stays down.

Winners: Team Sea Star & Shark Boy

The Hunnies are shocked as they make it back from their dip in the tides. They have to give Greene tandem CPR to help him recover from the beat down he just took. When that doesn’t work, they drag him over to get CPR breathes from a fan at ringside. He wakes up INSTANTLY and runs off. Good goofy fun match and I’m glad someone went in the drink.

Match 6: John Silver vs Kimber Lee

Silver out with a corner dropkick, dash wash and suplex for a fast two count. Kimber tossed out and Silver dives after. Lee battles back, somersaults to the outside and beats Silver with a sandy towel. She hits a bunch of kicks to the meat man but that just fires him up. They trade kicks until Silver hits a big powerbomb for a near fall. Lee battles back and tries to hits top rope senton but lands on Silver’s knees. They trade quick fall attempts until Kimber traps him with an alligator clutch to get the sudden three count.

Winner: Kimber Lee

A shocked Silver watched as Kimber flips him off as she exits. Meat man chooses to throw himself in the ocean as a consolation prize. Quick fight but effective to reestablish Kim’s superior attitude for the upcoming Season 2.

(Intermission)

Match 7: WARHORSE Jake Parnell (c) vs DL Hurst vs Wheeler Yuta (triple threat for the IWTV Championship)

Oh. Hell. Yes. Yuta takes control early to dive out to Hurst. Parnell catches him with a powerslam but Hurst is back with a DVD for a two count. Yuta wraps up Hurst to try and sub him until WARHORSE is back to beat down both his challengers. Powerbomb in Yuta for a pin attempt that Hurst breaks up. Hurts with a gut wrench slam for a near fall on Parnell. Springboard clothesline sends Hurst out and Yuta hits an Olympic slam on the champ. Yuta with a crossface but Parnell gets the rope. Hurst Spanish Flies Yuta from the top and WARHORSE barely dodges. The champ breaks up the pin and goes to work on DL with loud slaps, strikes and chops. Parnell dives on Yuta to wipe out the front row. He ascends and hits a double stomp to the back of Hurst’s head to get the pin and retain!

Winner: WARHORSE Jake Parnell

Fast and a lot of fun. Parnell is going to be a good champion and there’s a lot of good matchups to look forward to in the coming months.

Match 8: Team Tremendous (Dan Barry & Bill Carr) vs Bear Country (Bear Bronson & Bear Beefcake) (Tornado Rules)

The Aces of Beyond’s tag division are here to get payback on the team that ambushed them at Americanrana. Team Tremendous attacks as soon as they hit the ring and the fight is on! The Fight spills right onto the sand and they trade dives. Carr gets a big slam on Bronson and Barry is in to pick up the scraps. Beefcake trying to recover on the outside as Bronson takes abuse. Beefcake in but he’s double teamed. Bronson gets hit with a boss man slam. Barry goes for a monkey flip on Beefcake who tosses him into Carr. The Bears are pissed, hitting slams, senton and powerbombs. The Bears are up for the electric chair splash but Barry schoolboys then down. Bronson is being attended to by the ref, allowing a low blow and ddt on Beefcake to set up a double pin.

Winners: Team Tremendous

And just like that, who ARE the Aces of Beyond’s tag division? Can Team Tremendous get it done in a fair fight under normal rules? Good brawl here to set up further drama between these two teams.

Match 9: Chris Dickinson vs Ken Doane (w/ Cam Zagami & Christian Casanova)

Club Cam is back to kick sand in everyone’s eyes. Lucky for us, an even bigger bully came to play. Dickinson tackles Doane and works a kimura, causing Ken to scramble for the ropes. They scuffle more and Doane gets a handful of tights for a near fall. Couple of high intensity shoulder blocks and a suplex and a near fall by the Dirty Daddy. He goes for the Pazuzu Bomb but cam distracts and Casanova breaks up the move. Doane with a sucker punch and Dickinson is getting stomped out. Doane distracts the ref several times, allowing Casanova to get shots in freely. Doane throws some chops and Dickinson wakes up. Tons of strikes, chops and clotheslines until the ref catches Cam and Casanova trying to interfere again and they’re ejected. Dickinson with a DVD to Doane and brings back Casanova to superplex him. Cam watches in horror as Dickinson approaches, steals his hat and Pazuzu bombs him out of the ring onto Doane and Casanova. Doane is thrown back in the ring and locks in a deep ankle lock. Doane has no choice but to tap out, as the fans at ringside flip him off vigorously.

Winner: Chris Dickinson

Super chaotic and a lot of fun. Dickinson is on the mic. He’s saying he doesn’t know what’s left for him to do in Season 2 of Uncharted Territory after the season 1 he had. Yuta is out to tell him that HIS goal in season 2 is finally winning the IWTV title and he wants to take the same approach Dickinson did in his preparation for Daisuke Sekimoto. He wants the baddest folks Beyond can bring. So at episode 1 of season 2? Yuta vs Dickinson. Thursday Oct 3rd. Yes please.

Main Event: MJF vs Josh Briggs

“Thank god it’s the last time” says MJF as he makes his way to the ring in a chorus of boos for his last independent wrestling appearance. Briggs wins the battle for initiative and shoves MJF to the mat. MJF uses a melee attack but Briggs easily dodges it. MJF goes for a Cross Rhodes but Briggs’ evasion is too high. MJF runs to the back and Briggs gives chase. Briggs tries to suffocate MJF with a plastic bag. They fight to the commentary table and Briggs tries a chop but smacks the post instead. MJF casts magic missile...I mean, he throws sand in Briggs’ eyes and Josh is getting beaten down now. MJF is working over Briggs’ shoulder with holds and slams. Several pin attempts and submissions follow as Briggs tries to recover. MJF gets backpack slammed out of the submission. Big flying clothesline from Josh and a big Yakuza kick followed by a flipping GTS. Another Yakuza kick but MJF wrenches the arm again. Big neckbreaker from Briggs but MJF brings him down into a cross arm breaker and it’s DEEP. Briggs powerbombs MJF to break the hold. They are back to their feet before the 10 count and are trading heavy punches. Briggs going for a double underhook slam but MJF flips it into a Cross Rhodes. Kick out! Briggs with the double underhook slam. Kick out! MJF slowly climbs up Briggs’ leg and spits on him. Briggs responds with a chokeslam powerbomb. MJF, being out of hit points, stayed down for the three count after this.

Winner: Josh Briggs

Briggs on the mic and...well...I can’t quite remember what happened next as MJF must have cast a spell of illusion on the beach and everyone present. All I know is when I awoke, MJF was leaving to a chorus of boos. A proper send off for a proper b**tard.

And that’s it! What a way to come back to Beyond Wrestling after a couple of months off! This was a really fun outdoor show, the ambience of the place really helped make this a great time for everyone. I’d see a show in this ensue again in a heartbeat. Couple of spots almost went off the rails, but I’d attribute that mostly to heat and the overall sand content in the ring. Some good storytelling to reestablish our storylines and set up some new feuds for Season 2, starting on Oct 3rd. I’ll be there live most weeks. You can either join me or watch live on IWTV. As for this show, it should be showing up soon on IWTV’s on demand library. A fun tight show in person. Definitely interested to see how it captured live Briggs and MJF squaring off in the setting sun. Until next time!
