WOW, WOMEN OF WRESTLING TV REPORT

By Shannon Walsh on 2019-09-14 21:04:00

WOW results from The Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles on AXS TV on 9/14/19 (from tapings held in May 2019):

The show opened with WOW Champion Tessa Blanchard in what looked like a hotel VIP Lounge. Sophia Lopez (the attorney character) walked in the room and they spoke in Spanish to each other. Lopez handed over a briefcase of money to her. They were cold to each other and Blanchard told her to leave after the transaction was made.

Lana Star and The Beverly Hills Babe came out to the ring. Star said she was entering the WOW Tag Team Titles Tournament and she picked a great partner to team with because the person reminded her of herself. The announcers and Babe automatically assumed that she picked Babe, but out came Faith the Lioness. Babe looked totally stunned that she was passed over and not the only choice.

Babe got on the mic and wondered why this was happening. She told Lana that they never discussed it. She said Lana promised her gold and introduced her to the Hollywood lifestyle.

Lana told her this was about Hollywood life and dreams are broken each day. She said Babe should face Faith now, and if she beats her, she can continue as her protégée and partner. But if she loses to Faith, she will no longer be the protégée.

The Beverly Hills Babe vs. Faith the Lioness

Lana joined the commentary table for the match. Stephen Dickey and David McLane asked her what Babe will get if she wins. Lana reluctantly said she would be her tag partner.

Faith pinned Babe with a crucifix pin after Babe was taunting Lana instead of going for the win when she had the opportunity.

Abilene Maverick (aka Barbi Hayden) was shown walking backstage and she was confronted by Stephy Slays who politely asked her for a match. Maverick said Slays hasn’t beaten anyone formidable and shunned her.

Abilene Maverick vs. Adrenaline (aka Diamante)

Adrenaline got the pin after a Code Red in a good little match. Maverick got her in a chokehold submission but she would not give up. She gave Maverick a Samoan Drop. Maverick rolled her up in an inside cradle for a near fall.

Siren The Voodoo Doll and Holidead were shown in a horror promo segment around a tarot card reading table.

A video profile was shown of Keta Rush and Stephy Slays reuniting as tag team. On their way to the ring they saw Maverick in the locker room and Slays asked her how it felt to be a loser.

Keta Rush and Stephy Slays vs. Holidead and Siren in a WOW Tag Team Titles Tournament Match

Holidead pinned Slays after the double underhook face buster but Siren was the legal member of the team taken out to the outside by Rush. McLane said the match will be under review but right now they are the winners. Siren said the cards showed victory.

Backstage, Jessie Jones talked to The Beverly Hills Babe. She gave her a pep talk and tried to convince her to drop the Hollywood gimmick and go back to being Amber O’ Neal.

Serpentine (FKA Kobra Moon/aka Thunder Rosa) vs. WOW Champion Tessa Blanchard

Sophia Lopez accompanied Serpentine to the ring. McLane and Dickey said Blanchard accepted a payoff by Lopez to get Serpentine the title match. They said it was like something Tully Blanchard and JJ Dillon would do in “Tully Blanchard Enterprises”.

The announcers didn’t play dumb. They quickly mentioned that Serpentine was formerly Kobra Moon. McLane said the name on the contract now is Serpentine.

Blanchard got the pin after the Buzzsaw DDT it what has to be a top contender for best women’s TV match of the year. Really good stuff and definitely worth checking out.

They started off with mat wrestling, exchanging headlocks and head scissors.

Blanchard with a couple of short clotheslines but Serpentine avoids the third attempt and satellites around her into a leg sweep and transitions into a Boston Crab and then the rocking horse submission hold.

Serpentine comes off the top rope gives Blanchard and arm drag. Blanchard goes to the outside and Serpentine slithers to the ring apron. She gives Blanchard a knee strike then catches her in a hurricanrana.

Serpentine rolls Blanchard into the ring which ended up being a mistake. Blanchard gets a rush of energy and launches back out of the ring with a tope suicida.

Blanchard tried to give Serpentine a piledriver on the apron but she escaped and hit Blanchard with a big knee shot to the face. Serpentine went for a big boot but Blanchard blocked it and gave her a shot to the face.

Serpentine manages to suplex her back into the ring. Serpentine with a clothesline, elbow, and running drop kick to Blanchard as Blanchard was caught up in the ropes.

Blanchard delivers the swinging full nelson face buster for a two and she can’t believe it wasn’t enough to put Serpentine away. She goes to the top rope to deliver The Magnum but misses and Serpentine hits her with a flying knee shot to the face.

Serpentine gives Blanchard a shoulder breaker.

Blanchard with a rally pulls Serpentine’s legs apart in the corner and then gives her a mini code breaker. She stacks her up for the pin but only gets a two.

Blanchard tried to go for the Buzzsaw DDT but Serpentine gives her a modified inverted atomic drop for a near fall.

Serpentine came off the top rope with a stop but Blanchard moved then caught her with a super kick followed by the Buzzsaw DDT for the win.

As Blanchard posed with the belt Jungle Grrrl, The Beast, and Jessicka Havok (with Hazard) were all around ringside staring her down as the top contenders.
