ROH CHAMPION CONTRACT COMING DUE

By Mike Johnson on 2019-08-29 11:52:00

Ring of Honor Champion Matt Taven's current contract with the promotion is scheduled to come to an end at the end of September, PWInsider.com has confirmed with multiple sources.

The two sides have not yet come to terms on a new deal.

Taven, 34 years old, won the ROH title at G1 Supercard in Madison Square Garden this past April, has been with the promotion full-time since 2010 and has also held the promotion's TV, Tag Team and Six Man Tag Team Championship over the course of his run.  He's been one of the central figures in the promotion over the last year, including a great 60-minute match with Jay Lethal and title defenses against Alex Shelley, PCO, Jeff Cobb and more.

Taven will be appearing tomorrow for CMLL as a representative for ROH at CMLL's annual Grand Prix tournament.  Jeff Cobb and Rush are both in line for future ROH title shots while a tournament will kick off at the Death Before Dishonor PPV to set the stage for the challenger to the title at the Final Battle PPV in Baltimore.
