COMPLETE SMACKDOWN LIVE REPORT #2

By Cory Strode on 2019-08-20 20:46:00

Richard Trionfo is off tonight so we have two superstars filling in!

The start of the King of the Ring tournament on the Smackdown side in Sioux Falls, the Roman Reigns mystery deepens, and lots and lots of recaps!

There are more possible suspects than there are winning combinations on a Novoline slot machine!

We kick things off with Randy Orton taking his sweet time to get the ring so that we can be introduced to Byron Saxton, David Otunga and Tom Phillips as our announcers.  Last thing's RAW is recapped as Koki Kingston and Xavier Woods are beat down by Orton and the Revival

Randy gives a promo stating that Kofi ran from Randy Orton because he is stupid.  Kofi's power of positivity will be stopped by the letters R. K. O.  Kofi's music hits and while Orton watches the ramp Kofi hits Trouble in Paradise from behind.  Kofi leaves the ring to get a chair to set up busting Orton's ankle, but gets interrupted of Wilder and Dawson from the Revival.  Orton escapes the ring, and Kofi takes out both members of the Revival with his chair.

Orton scoots backward up the ramp as Kofi calls from him to come fight.

The announcers throw to a recap of the attacks on Roman Reigns, who explains that these attacks are affecting his livelihood and his ability to provide for his family.  We then see his interrogation of Buddy Murphy and the ensuing fight.  We then see the fights between Murphy  and Rowan as Murphy had put the finger on him.  Daniel Bryan assures us Rowan has nothing to do with this and he has been doing his own investigation.  And Next Week, Daniel will tell us who it is.

THAT IS THIS WEEK!

Now it's time to get ready for our first match as Andrade with Selena Vega come to the ring.

We go to commercial!

When we come back, we are informed about NXT starting on USA on 9/18/2019.

Shane is shining  up the Smackdown sign and Kevin Owens come in.  Shane inform=s him that Kevin had better no rip up the office or the $100K fine will feel like a slap on the wrist.  Owens says he just wants to get ready for his King of the Ring Match.  Shane asked Owens what is on his mind.  Owens talks about how the fine is a lot to him, and it will affect his family.  Second time we hear about how things affect people's families, I see.  That's a theme, right?  Owens asks Shane to reconsider.  Shane says he will take it under consideration.

Andrade is in the ring and his music has been playing the whole time since he came out before the commercial break, which is probably about ten minutes.  Hope the crowd liked it.  They show the updated brackets as Apollo comes to the ring.

The match begins

Andrade vs Apollo Crews

Apollo clotheslines out of the gate and gets a one count.  Andrade kicks out and takes control, ending the sequence with double knees to the chest as Apollo was sitting in the corner, leading to a two count.  As they get to their feet, Apollo grabs Andrade in a small package for the two count.  Announcers point out that Apollo is trying to get a quick win as Apollo tries to dump him out of the ring.  Andrade wraps him in a hold on the ropes, breaks before the 5 count, tries to hit a leap from the top turnbuckle that Apollo stops with a drop kick while Andrade is in midair.

Andrade rolls to the floor, and as Apollo is setting up for a back flip off the apron, Andrade grabs a leg, and drops him.  Apollo recovers and attempts a power bomb onto the floor, but Andrade shoves him into the ring steps.

Commercial break where Andrade rolls Apollo into the ring and works the arm.

We come back to the two of them in the ring and Apollo catches Andrade, who was trying for a cross body.  Andrade escapes, hits the ropes, gets caught and is popped into the air for Apollo to hit him with both knees in the midsection while coming down.  Both are trying to recover and Andrade is first to his feet, but Apollo is close behind.  They exchange blows in the middle of the ring until Apollo drops him with a clothesline.  Apollo hit an Olympic Slam for a two count.

Apollo tries to backdrop, but Andrade escapes, heads up to the top turnbuckle, but is unable to do anything from there as he gets a kick to the face from Apollo. Apollo tries to hit a move, but is instead hit with a drop toe hold into the bottom turnbuckle.  Andrade tries to his double knees again, but Apollo escapes.  They exchange kicks until Apollo gets a standing shooting star press for the two count.

As Andrade get up, he is grabbed by Apollo, who has his leg grabbed by Selena so that he can't be pulled to the middle of the ring by Apollo.  Apollo starts yelling at her, giving Andrade time to set up for  a back elbow and a hammer lock DDT for the three count.

Your winner:  Andrade

In the back, Daniel Bryan and Rowan are leading a person with a black tarp over them to conceal their identity to an empty room.  Daniel tells the figure to stay in the chair or he will be very...VERY sorry.

Elias is playing his guitar and wandering around the back and sees a ref trying to be inconspicuous.  Elias asked where He is, and the ref points at the equipment boxes.

Elias pulls Drake Maverick from the box, and while Drake attempts to do something. Elias tells him to read the note in his hands.  The note states that the 24/7 rules are suspended for all of Smackdown so Elias can focus on his match.  Elias slams him back on the box.  Drake then opens the box after Elias leaves and reminds us, he just wants to consummate his marriage.

Get ready, next we've got A Moment of Bliss with Charlotte Flair!

Commercials

Did you know Clash of Champions has a theme song?  Go buy it!

Nikki and Alexa come out for their show, A Moment of Bliss. Alexa reminds us they are the women's tag team champions.  Alexa lets us know she feels bad for people who don't have championships of their own before bringing out Charlotte.  Charlotte says that the throne sitting on the stage is more her style, but sits in the interview chair.  Alexa says that the match where she beat Trish was a passing of the torch.  Charlotte says she took the torch and is the face of the women's division.   Alexa says that Some People Say it's Bailey for being the champion.

Charlotte says that Bailey may be the champ, but she is the brand, and she is the one they send out to do all of the media.  This brings our Bailey.  Bailey is tired of the bragging, the insults, but all she is giving is a bunch of excuses, because at the end of the day Bailey is the champ, so she is better than Charlotte.   Charlotte asks if Bailey knows how people feel about her as he champion?  She is the star and will restore the prestige when she wins at the Clash of the Champions.  Bailey accepts the challenge and dumps Charlotte from her chair leaving Charlotte confused and apparently unable to get up and fight Bailey. .

In the back Buddy Murphy is getting ready when Roman enters the locker room.  Roman wants to know if he is lying to him or the Daniel Bryan.  Buddy says he is Pretty Sure.  Roman says that if Buddy is lying again, he will whip Buddy's ass.

Back to the ring where we get Daniel Bryan's music, as the New Daniel Bryan comes to the ring with Rowan, as we go to commercial.

When we return, Buddy Murphy is on his way to the ring to near silence.  Wow didn't expect that.

Bryan grabs a mic and confronts Buddy, and calls him a liar. Tonight, Daniel and Rowan will reveal who is behind the attacks, and that Buddy is behind it too.

Daniel Bryan vs Buddy Murphy

Buddy hit a knee to Bryan's face for a two count as the bell rings.  Both matches tonight starting hot.  Buddy stomps Bryan down in the corner.  Buddy goes to the top and Bryan rolls out of the ring.  Bryan comes into the ring and takes over the match with kicks and strikes  The match then goes back and forth, with Buddy getting a few hope spot.  As Bryan is beating on Buddy, he yells that he is a liar.  Buddy eventually sends Bryan to the outside and flips onto him from the ring.

A commercial break, wait, they do that during matches when Vince isn't around?

We come back to both of them in the ring and Buddy is still in control.  We have some Buddy chants!! Buddy goes up and down with double knees to Bryan for a two count.  As they get up, Buddy tries a back drop and Bryan lands on his feet and takes Buddy down to the mat in the LeBell lock. Bryan turns it into rings of Saturn and grabs a leg as well.  Buddy is able to get to the ropes for the break. Bryan starts hitting the It Kicks and Bryan yells at him to stay down.

Bryan misses and Buddy hits a mule kick, knocking Bryan into the turnbuckle.  Buddy attempts to come at him and Bryan ties him into the Tree of Woe followed by a drop kick.  Bryan then hits a belly to back superplex from the top for a two count.  Bryan can't believe it giving us time for a slo mo replay.  Bryan attacks with more kicks, yelling “Liar” with each impact.

Buddy is able to hit a kick in the corner and then hits Bryan with a running power bomb for the two count.  They trade blows in the middle of the ring again. Buddy is able to get a backslide into a two count. He then hits a brain buster for a two count, and Bryan gets a foot on the ropes to break the count. Rowan gets on the apron to distract and Bryan rolls Buddy up for a two count off of the distraction.  Buddy goes for a superkick and kicks Rowan off the apron but Bryan still gets a roll up on Buddy for a two count.

Buddy is able to hit a running knee, and then hits Bryan with Murphy's Law for the three count.

Your winner, Buddy Murphy.

The opposite of his entrance as people are cheering, for Murphy, and I want to point out that during a recap they show a group going wild that he won.  Good for Buddy!

Rowan helps Bryan to get up and Buddy goes up the ramp to get away.

Still to come, Owens and Elias.

We go back to the man being held in the back, and Otunga tells us the lengths Bryan has gone to solve the crime.  He's hired a forensics team, lawyers and more.  Maybe that will be a new show on the Network to take the place of NXT:  Daniel Bryan, CSI!

In the back, the Revival are coming to the ring.

Commercial.  Why is Bud Light making iced tea?

Buddy's post-match interview is broken up by Rowan beating him up and Bryan yelling that Buddy is a liar and deserves being beat up.  Refs come in to break it up.

The Revival coming to the ring selling the rib injury from RAW and we get to see why in a recap.  The Revival is upset that people are cheering the attack, and they verbally trash the New Day and challenge them to the Smackdown championship.  They are interrupted by the entrance of Heavy Machinery.

Revival vs Heavy Machinery

The Revival have taped ribs.  Tucker starts with Wilder and they trade blows.  Tucker puts Wilder in a bear hug and then tags in Otis who puts on the same bear hug. Tucker tags in and goes after Dawson and the Revival are lifted up into position for dual brain busters and then tossed from the ring.

We get the commercial with the match in a tiny window in the corner where the Revival takes over the offense.

When we come back, Tucker is being beaten down by Wilder.  Tucker is in a headlock in the Revival's corner, he gets up and starts to get near his corner, but Wilder is able to pull his hair, and bring him to a neutral corner.  Wilder hits a bulldog from the top and gets a two count.  Dawson tags in and goes from an elbow off the top and misses.  They both struggle to get to their corners.  Wilder is tagged in, tries to get in between Tucker and his corner and is hit with a pop up slam for his trouble.  Otis is tagged in and cleans house.

Wilder gets to be the recipient of the Caterpillar.  Otis brings him to the corner, Tucker tags in, they attempt to set up for the compactor and Dawson breaks it up,  Tucker hits a Thesz Press on Dawson, but

Wilder flips Tucker into a pin.

Your winners, The Revival

In the back, Chad Gable, in street clothes, is asked to respond to people who say he is an underdog.  He agrees with them, but that's been the story of his life.  His wrestling coach told him to get lost, he didn't make the Olympics, and he was too small to be in the WWE.  He is an underdog but he will beat Shelton Benjamin next week and open some eyes.

There is a “you must be this tall to be in the King of the Ring” sign that, he is not tall enough for.  Someone is stealing Dave's joke.

Now it's time for The Miz.

When we get back, it will be Miz TV with Sami Zayn!

Commercials.

We come back and people are tweeting about NXT coming to USA. Sadly, no Touts.

Miz welcomes us and brings out Sami.  Sami struts to the ring and we are told he has been saying enough is enough.  Sami doesn't care about Miz or the show, but he wants TV time.  Miz reminds us that Sami has been losing.  Sami agrees and understands why he's losing.  Sami states he has been trapped in the WWE trap of greed, and he has fought for causes, and his path through redemption is through altruism.  They are lots of people who Sami needs to help...

...and Shinsuke's music hits and he comes to the ring.

Miz asks why Shinsuke needs Sami's help, and Sami asks what language he expect Shinsuke to answer in. Shinsuke is Japanese and a poet, and needs to articulate what is in his soul.  And Sami understands that and they have a bond no one can understand.  So it looks like Sami will be Shinsuke’s mouthpiece.  He states if someone wants to speak to Shinsuke, he has to talk to Sami.

Shinsuke then attacks Miz until Sami pulls him off of Miz and tells Shinsuke it was perfect.  Sammi helps Miz up so that he can be hit by Shinsuke’s Kinshaha.

Maybe I spelled that right, since my word processor gave up on it.  I don't know.

More commercials.  Can you go to WWE shop and buy a title belt already?

We come back to the empty room of doom and Bryan lets the hooded figure know Roman is coming.

Shane is on the phone in his office and Kevin returns.  Shane reminds him that he can't put his hands on an official and Kevin has not apologized.  Kevin apologizes, and Shane states he is reconsidering the fine, but if he puts his hands on an official, he will be immediately fired.

This is called foreshadowing.

Elias enters and walks past the Throne, guitar over his shoulder.  Kevin's music hits and he enters, walks past the throne and heads to the ring.

Elias vs Kevin Owens

They lock up and Elias gets the first pin for a one count.  Crowd is chanting for Kevin.  Owens tosses Elias outside, he starts to go for a dive, but Elias moves out of the way.  Owens leave the ring and start in with chops on Elias.  Elias reverse the battle and tosses Owens into the barricade and then into the ring.  They trade blows and Elias is tossed into the corner to take an Owens cannonball for the two count.

Shane's music hits and he makes his way to the ring.

This gives us a break for the last commercials.

During the break, Elias took control of the match and has Owens down on the mat in a headlock.  Owens gets to his feet but Elias is able to put him down on the mat again.  Owens is able to work his way loose, but Elias hits him with a knee to the face and another two count. Elias keeps Owens on  the mat with strokes.  They break with Owens in the corner.  Elias is able to hit a power slam to pin for a one count.  Elias puts Owens back in a chinlock.

Owens is able to fight his way out, is thrown into the ropes and hits Elias with a DDT. They both work to recover and when they get to their feet, Elias gets in a blow, but Owens hits a drop kick from the second turnbuckle.  Owens then hits a senton and they battle for control.  Elias gains th3e upper hand and is able to hit a spin out power bomb for the two count.

Elias lifts Owens to the top turnbuckle and climbs up.  Owens starts to fight his way free, and Owens hits a senton, but Elias gets his knees up.  Elias is sent over the top, but lands on his feet, and Owens hits him with a cannonball on the outside.

Shane stops Owens from tossing Elias into the ring, and Elias gets into the ring on his own as Shane removes his jacket to reveal his referee shirt.  Shane starts counting out Owens.

Owens gets into the ring and Shane is now the main ref.  Owens goes for the stunner on Elias but is tossed off and ALMOST hits Shane.  Elias takes advantage for a rollup and Shane gives a quick count.

Your winner, Elias.

Meanwhile, in the back, Bryan reminds us that Buddy Murphy is a Cowardly Liar.  Roman is there to get answers.  Bryan has found the man who tried to end Roman's career and...it's a Rowan lookalike as we end this week's Smackdown! Who is the look alike?  Will Sami become a version of a manager?  What are the next King of the Ring matches? Will Vince watch this episode since it was Smackdown and he's getting ready to do more XFL publicity?

All this and more on next week's Smackdown!
