WWE star and UFC Hall of Famer Ronda Rousey nearly severed her finger filming a scene for FOX's 9-1-1 during an action sequence that was being shot in Mexico. Rousey slammed a door and accidentally smashed her fingers. TMZ.com was the first to report the injury, including a gruesome photo.
Rousey was diagnosed with a of the tip of her ring finger and "severe" damage to her middle finger, which needed to have screws and bolts implanted. Rousey was back on set the next day, sporting a splint on the broken finger.
Rousey has not been seen on WWE programming since Wrestlemania 35. On 9-1-1, Rousey will be playing Lena Bosko "a stoic and fearless member of the Los Angeles Fire Department Station 136 who leaps into action to save lives when a disaster hits."
WWE executives have noted on stockholder calls that their talents and intellectual property would be integrated into FOX entertainment and sports programming to help promote the 10/4 Smackdown debut on FOX. Rousey on 9-1-1 would be the first known integration to cross-promote.
