GFW VS. IMPACT LAWSUIT UPDATE

By Mike Johnson on 2019-03-04 16:41:00

There was a conference call on Tuesday 2/26 regarding the lawsuit brought by Jeff Jarrett and his company, Global Wrestling Entertainment against Impact Wrestling and its parent company Anthem.

The call was held because Jarrett's side had filed a motion with the United States District Court for Middle District of Tennessee rule to require Anthem is required to produce documents that GWE had requested related to the sales of the GFW Amped content that may have been distributed to Impact Wrestling’s international partners.  The 16 one-hour GFW Amped episodes, as previously reported had been converted into a series of four PPVs under Impact’s “One Night Only” PPV series.

GWE wants the international distribution information in order to better gauge their potential damages.  Anthem had resisted, claiming the documents “are contracts with third parties that contain confidentiality provisions” and that they could not produce them without a court order requiring them to do so.

Following the conference call, the court ordered that Anthem will be required to produce the documents, which will be filed under seal confidentially.  The court reserved the right to later allow them to be unsealed or redacted.  The court is allowing 14 days for Anthem or any third parties (i.e., any of their international partners) to file any potential objections and once that process completes itself, Anthem will be required to file the documentation with the court.  Anthem has also been ordered to inform their international partners of this situation.
