Believing you are absolutely everything you say you are is necessary if you want to be a champion.

The Velveteen Dream defeated Johnny Gargano to become the new WWE NXT North American Champion in the main event of this week's episode of WWE NXT.
The question of whether Dream won the title at the last TV taping on 1/30 was up in the air officially. After Dream scored the pin on Gargano at the Full Sail University taping, they ran an angle where Gargano attacked Dream on the ramp. They battled back into the ring where Dream went for a flying elbow off the top, but missed. Gargano locked him in the Gargano Escape submission with Dream tapping and Gargano exiting with the Championship belt.
The angle allowed WWE to continue to have Gargano appear with the North American Championship, including appearances on Raw and Smackdown this week, until the title change officially aired tonight. Such a strategy was used regularly by WWE in the 1980s in order to tape material featuring the new champion on taped shows that would air after the actual title change would take place on PPVs.
