DX (INCLUDING CHYNA) GOING INTO WWE HALL OF FAME, TICKETS GOING ON SALE THIS FRIDAY

By Mike Johnson on 2019-02-18 08:59:00

Localized advertising for the WWE Hall of Fame in New York City is listing an on sale for this Friday 2/22 and is built around an induction for DX, the super group that helped turn around the Monday Night War for WWF in the late 1990s.

Footage of the commercial features Shawn Michaels, Triple H, The New Age Outlaws, X-Pac and Chyna.   Given the on sale ticket date, an official announcement will likely come tonight on Monday Night Raw.

The group was originally put together as a trio featuring Shawn Michaels, Triple H and Chyna, pushing the boundaries as disrespectful rebels with an entrance that was so good, you could pin the date it debuted as the beginning of the momentum shifting from WCW to WWF during the Monday Night War.

After Michaels injured his back wrestling The Undertaker at the 1998 Royal Rumble, he performed in the ring once more, dropping the belt to Steve Austin at Wrestlemania 14.  Michaels left to recover, with DX being reorganized as a larger group, adding X-Pac (returning from WCW that night) and the New Age Outlaws to the mix, becoming the top heel act in the company next to Vince McMahon.

This would be the first-ever WWE Hall of Fame induction for Triple H and would become the second WWE Hall of Fame induction for Shawn Michaels.  The Hall of Fame induction for Chyna, who passed away in April 2016, is extremely deserved and is something she desperately wanted in terms of closure before her passing.   Her potential induction had been a hot button issue because of adult films she had performed in after her WWE run.  It would also be the first Hall of Fame induction for X-Pac, who helped revolutionize professional wrestling on a global scale with his WWF run as the 1-2-3 Kid and later as Syxx and X-Pac, and The New Age Outlaws, current WWE Creative Team member Road Dogg and AEW Producer Billy Gunn.

All are legitimately worthy of going in on their own accomplishments separately, but as a group, there's never been a more important WWE-created stable.

The DX induction was at one point planned for the 2013 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony in Madison Square Garden when it appeared the company would not be able to get Bruno Sammartino to reconcile with the company and be the headliner that year.  After Sammartino reconsidered his decision, the DX induction plans were pulled.

As PWInsider.com previously reported, there are also plans to induct the original Hart Foundation - Bret Hart, Jim Neidhart and Jimmy Hart - into the Hall this year as well.
