ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER'S LONGTIME MANAGER BILLY 'HONEST JOHN' ROBERTSON, FLORIDA WRESTLER & PROMOTER CLIFF SHEATS PASS AWAY

By Mike Johnson on 2019-02-17 12:17:00

PWInsider.com is saddened to report twp passings in the world of professional wrestling this weekend.

Billy Robertson, who performed all over the country as "Honest John", managing WWE Hall of Famer Abdullah the Butcher passed away suddenly several days ago.  Robertson was always at Abdullah's side, even in recent years at conventions.  John had been working with Abdullah going back several decades and appeared at countless events with him.

Abdullah released the following video discussing Robertson’s passing:

Florida independent wrestler and promoter Cliff Sheats also passed away over the last several days.  Originally broken into the business by Rusty Brooks, Sheats began wrestling in the late 1980s for Dusty Rhodes and Mike Graham’s PWF and appeared as an enhancement talent on both WWF and WCW TV in the early 1990s.  Later, he ended up being billed as Cliff Anderson while wrestling in Florida because it was joked that Sheats looked so much like Arn Anderson.  He also worked in a tag team with Casey Andrews, billed as The Exterminators and also worked under the ring names Dead Bug Joe and Cliff Sheets.

At times, Sheats promoted the Fort Pierce, Florida area, where he lived.  Sheats also helped break current New Japan Pro Wrestling announcer Kevin Kelly into the business, as Kelly had worked as a ring announcer for his events.  There is no word yet on the circumstances of his passing.

On behalf of everyone at PWInsider.com, I’d like to express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Billy “Honest John” Robertson and Cliff Sheats.
