MID-ATLANTIC WRESTLING FOOTAGE SEEN FOR FIRST TIME ON WWE NETWORK, BARRY HOROWITZ TALKS, HBK AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2019-02-15 09:55:00

WWE added the following Hidden Gems to the WWE Network yesterday:

Mid-Atlantic Wrestling 07/17/1980 – Masters of the Figure Four
Two masters of the figure four leg lock collide when ‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair takes on Greg ‘The Hammer’ Valentine from the Norfolk Scope.

This is the first time the Mid-Atlantic content has ever been released publicly in any form.  It was filmed by George Pantas from ringside on a 35 MM camera years ago as Pantas had permission from Jim Crockett to sit inside the rails and film. WWE became aware of Pantas' films after some of that footage was used in a Jim Crockett Promotions documentary several years back and ended up acquiring the content in 2014.  Pantas told the story when he sat down with us in the Elite section.

WWWF @ MSG 02/19/1979 – On Broadway
The WWE Championship is on the line at the World’s Most Famous Arena as Bob Backlund defends against Greg ‘The Hammer’ Valentine.

Championship Wrestling from Florida 09/01/1973 A Valentine for Thesz
Two of wrestling’s toughest competitors square off when Johnny Valentine faces Lou Thesz featuring bonus alternate angle footage.

Championship Wrestling from Florida 09/15/1976 – A Little Elbow Grease
WWE Hall of Famer Greg ‘The Hammer’ Valentine showcases the devastating effects of his elbow drop as he prepares for battle.
