DID THE ORIGINAL VERSION OF NXT FAIL?, WWE WORKING WITH NETFLIX, WHAT THE IWGP TITLE MATCH SHOULD BE IN MSG AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2019-02-16 10:00:00

I have a few questions regarding WWE's original format of NXT.  I know that Impact Wrestling's Johnny Mundo was one of the winners along with the late Matt Capotelli, but is John Hennigan the only winner of the show still working as an in-ring talent?  Are there any other contestants from the shows who are still active as in-ring competitors? Seeing as how mostof the winners don't last in the business, do you think there's a feeling in WWE management the show was a waste of time and lastly how and when did the original format become the NXT of today?

Neither Hennigan nor Cappotelli were competitors on NXT.  They were part of the WWF Tough Enough series that aired on MTV.  There were a number of talents who come through that series who later worked for WWE or had runs elsewhere, including Matt Morgan, Kenny King, Nidia and Maven Huffman.    I've never ever heard that WWE believed the original concept was a mistake, especially since the most recent version brought them Mandy Rose, The Velveteen Dream and Sonya Deville, among others.

You are thinking of the original incarnation of NXT, which replaced ECW on SyFy as a hybrid reality TV and competition series.  I don't believe WWE would argue that version failed either given it introduced audiences to Daniel Bryan, Wade Barrett,  AJ Lee, Kaitlyn, Heath Slater, Curtis Axel, Titus O'Neil, Bray Wyatt (as Husky Harris), Naomi, Fandango, EC3, etc. among others.  It allowed some to become main roster characters and allowed others to figure out what worked and what didn't so they could retool themselves.

If Becky Lynch is the Man, are WWE opening themselves up to a male competitor billing themselves as "The Woman"???

If WWE thought such a nickname can make money or get a male character over, you can bet they would try it.

If you had to predict the IWGP title bout for G1 Supercard, what would it be?

To me, if New Japan went with anything but Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Kazuchika Okada in the Garden, they were making a terrible error, but after switching the belt to Jay White, it's obvious this is about making White an even bigger name, so I'd have him face Kota Ibushi.

Why hasn't WWE announced a new date at Madison Square Garden?

G1 Supercard.

Why wouldn't the WWE Studios movies be for WWE Network as opposed to Netflix?

WWE Studios and Netflix have entered a deal where WWE will produce films for Netflix, who are putting up the financial backing.  Thus, the content is being produced for them.  It's a smart move for WWE to be in business with them.

Is WOW's Shaul Guerrero related to the Guerreros?

Yes, she is the daughter of the late Eddy Guerrero.  She had been under a WWE developmental deal and was part of the original incarnation of The Ascension.
