What's going on with Asuka now that the SmackDown Women's Champion has been absent from WWE TV as of late?

They haven’t started her next storyline yet.  Charlotte and Becky are both involved in the Raw Title at the moment.  It may end up that whoever loses between Charlotte and Becky ends up as Asuka’s opponent at Mania.  If that is the case, it should be Charlotte.

Quick Dean Ambrose follow up.  Assuming he is leaving, would he be out of his contract in time for the Double or Nothing PPV?

That is my understanding, yes.

Although Elias got the win over Jeff Jarrett on RAW this past Monday (Feb 4th), Jarrett got in a good bit of offense, and afterwards, Elias was smashed with a guitar.  As Elias is somewhat over with a large number of fans, why is he being “jobbed” to the obviously old and out of shape Jarrett and Road Dogg?  How is this supposed to help or advance Elias’ character going forward?

I have no idea whatsoever.  Their booking of Elias has been terrible. He has shown a real ability to connect with the audience and they have no idea how to maximize it.  It’s perplexing to me because it shouldn’t be that hard for them.

I’ve heard you and others talk about how WWE freezes contracts when people injured or had health issues. My question is how is that allowed, is it written into their contracts?

Yep, it’s in the wording of the standard talent deals.  The talent doesn’t have a lot of option unless they get well up the card and can negotiate with the company.

For the last few years the piledriver has been banned in WWE except for taker but over the last few weeks I’ve seen Rey Mysterio and Adam Cole hot versions of the Canadian destroyer which is a very dangerous form of a piledriver. Were those moves approved in advance and if they were does this mean WWE is slowly allowing the piledriver to be used again.

WWE reevaluates moves from time to time, such as the Curb Stomp. If they feel that they can be done safely, they allow them to be used.  I can’t say what that means for the piledriver though.  That is a move that has a lot of inherent danger to it if it’s to look “real”.
