WWE BRINGING BACK HALFTIME HEAT NEXT WEEKEND

By Mike Johnson on 2019-01-27 18:36:00

WWE announced during the Royal Rumble Kickoff Show that they will resurrect the old Halftime Heat concept, airing a WWE NXT bout during the Super Bowl's halftime show next Sunday 2/3

Based on the brawl that took place following Takeover, WWE NXT Champion Tomasso Ciampa & NXT North American Champion Johnny Gargano & Adam Cole will battle The Velveteen Dream & Aleister Black & Ricochet.

WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels will be a guest announcer for the match.  WWE did not specify where the match would be broadcast from, but they are taping NXT TV this Wednesday 1/30 and could always utilize the Performance Center if necessary.  There is no NXT live event scheduled for 2/3.

In 1999, WWE aired the first-ever Halftime Heat, featuring The Rock vs. Mankind in an Empty Arena Falls Count Anywhere match that saw Mankind capture the WWF title.
