DOLPH ZIGGLER SAYS HE IS ON HIATUS FROM WWE, WILL NOT BE APPEARING AT ROYAL RUMBLE

By Mike Johnson on 2019-01-27 10:11:00

As PWInsider.com reported several weeks ago, there have been rumors within WWE that former World Champion Dolph Ziggler was leaving the company and would be done, contractually, after 1/31.  As noted then, some WWE sources have denied that is accurate.  Ziggler, who has not appeared on WWE TV since December, was interviewed yesterday at his home in Phoenix and stated he was on a "hiatus" from the company and would not be appearing at the Royal Rumble.

He noted he was "technically still under contract" with WWE but would instead be performing his stand-up show instead and that he has some handshake agreements with the company, in part because he's never "besmirched" WWE and has always been positive about his time in the company.

When asked about his potential exit, Ziggler commented, “I can’t really answer that and I don’t want to make some fake thing or some sly thing. For now, I am on a hiatus from WWE. It took me like ten years to get a weekend off and this is it. So we’ll see how it goes. Like I said, it’s a handshake different thing than what’s on paper and I’ve given everything and we’ll see if there is more for me to give and I’d be happy to do it.”

Ziggler, when asked about the story that he had turned down becoming a Producer for the company, stated that was something he'd want to do later in life and if he was going to be with WWE now, it would be as a performer.

Ziggler was also asked about the formation of All Elite Wrestling and was positive on the idea.
