The Sports Business Journal reported this afternoon that Vince McMahon's resurrected XFL football league "is deep in discussions" with both FOX and ESPN to broadcast the league's return season in 2020.
Their report states that should ESPN end up with the rights to the games, XFL games would also air on ABC.
SBJ is reporting that an announcement on broadcast rights for the XFL could be made as early as next week.
FOX, which is closer and closer to selling the majority of its assets over to Disney, is planning to focus on a lot of sports programming going forward and has a billion dollar TV deal with WWE that will see Smackdown Live shift from the USA Network on Tuesdays to FOX on Fridays starting this October.
