EVOLVE 120 from Queens, NY at La Boom on 1/19/19 exclusively on Club WWN:
Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford came to the ring as Lenny Leonard and Ron Niemi opened the show. Dawkins and Ford said they’re hijacking show until they get Eddie Kingston. Kingston rushes out.
Eddie Kingston vs. Montez Ford
Ford pinned Kingston after a famouser and a frog splash in a great opener. Lots of chops traded. Kingston looked good hitting a suplex, DDT, and rock bottom but Ford kicked out.
Josh Briggs vs. Angelo Dawkins
Briggs pinned Dawkins after his chokeslam into the backstabber finisher. Long match with lots of high impact moves between the two. Kingston came back out to brawl to the back with Ford at ringside. Dawkins did a couple of impressive leapfrogs over the 6’7 Briggs.
Joe Gacy vs. WWN Champion JD Drake
Ring announcer Timothy Barr says this is a non-title match.
Drake pinned Gacy after the moonsault and the drill bit in a slugfest that earned a standing ovation. Gacy rushed Drake in the corner with a series of moves at the bell. Drake recovered and it went to the outside. A hard hitting exchange of chops. Drake with a senton and Vader Bomb. Gacy hit a springboard cuttter but got hit by a clothesline to the back of the head when he tried another one.
Three-Way Freestyle: Curt Stallion vs. Leon Ruff vs. Orange Cassidy
Stallion pinned Ruff after a kamikaze headbutt. Good stuff from all three. Cassidy started with slow motion comedy stuff then really picked up doing a dive to the outside, a flying DDT on Cassidy, and a ‘rana on both Ruff and Stallion at the same time.
After the match, Trevin Adams interviewed Stallion in the ring and offered him a WWN contract. Stallion said he had to make some calls and look it over. He got on his cell phone and said he would need an extra $50 per appearance. He said the person he was talking to was “Cody”. Adams panicked (in joking fashion) and told him to hang up because he would get an extra $100. Stallion agreed.
Number one contender's match for the EVOLVE Title: AR Fox (with Ayla Fox and The Skulks) vs. Anthony Henry
Henry pinned Fox after a knockout kick in an excellent match. Tons of near falls and kick outs. Fox hit the Ace Crusher from every direction. Henry did a top rope stomp followed up by a couple of brainbusters. Fox hit the fox catcher but Henry kicked out. They shook hands and hugged after.
Darby Allin vs. Fabian Aichner.
Allin used the last supper to pin Aichner. Aichner attacked Allin on the way to the ring and dominated the start of the match. Allin recovered and used his quick and innovative offense to survive throughout the match. Fans threw in a bunch of streamers after the match.
EVOLVE Champion Austin Theory vs. Johnny Gargano in a non-title match.
Gargano won with the Gargano Escape. The referee was accidentally bumped. Priscilla Kelly entered the ring and started slapping at Theory. Darby Allin then came in and went after Theory. Josh Briggs came in and got rid of Allin. Briggs gave Gargano the chokeslam into the backstabber. The referee recovered but Gargano kicked out. Theory tried to use the belt to hit Gargano but he got caught in the Gargano Escape.
Gargano spoke for a long time after the match. He thanked the crowd for making his return special. He brought in Darby Allin. He said Allin wrestles from the heart and gives fans their monies worth, but now Allin needs to focus on winning the Evolve Title. Gargano asked the entire locker room to come to the ring. He said when he left Evolve he told Matt Riddle it was his place. He pointed to the roster in the ring and told the crowd it’s now they’re place and they are the future. He said he sees his T-shirts and signs in the crowd. He said next time he sees an Evolve show he wants to see shirts and signs for people like Priscilla Kelly, Darby Allin, and AR Fox instead. He said he would win the North American Title at Takeover next Saturday from Ricochet.
