Hot crowd stood in the rain hoping to get a good spot by the ring, doing some meet and greats with the talents while enjoying their beverages of choice. The show sold out it's presale but a significant number of walk up fans showed up after the teasing of a Los Angeles appearance by The Elite earlier in the day.
Ray Rosas (with Peter Avalon) pins Jungle Boy with the Macho elbow. Great match for the 21 year old Coy Perry who is rumored to have joined AEW. This kid is good connecting to the crowd with only body language. He rarely makes a peep but shows a lot of personality. The injured Peter Avalon was tremendous as the heel manager. PPRay raise Jungle Boy's arms after the match and he gets the coveted "Please Come Back" chant.
Impact Knockouts Champion Taya Valkyrie taps out Heather Monroe with her new crossface/cross leg lock. Monroe looked strong in defeat. Very good match from these two. Better than their PCW Ultra bout in December.
Tyler Bateman pins Luchasaurus with "Death From Above". It's going to be interesting to see Bateman's growth as a singles wrestler now that his regular tag team partner Brody King has left for ROH. Bateman and his CWFH valet Sarah Wolfe have a unique look as the "Occult Couple". Wolfe also works for WOW under the ring name "Razor" and it would cool to see her added to Bateman's matches at BW.
Tessa Blanchard & Daga pin DoomFly (Delilah Doom & Eli Everfly) in a fun fast paced intergender match. First time seeing Daga live. Both Doom & Everfly continue to improve. Blanchard is a grizzled young vet settling and slowing Delilah Doom's work down. Daga gets his nose busted open a bit. After the match, Tessa & Daga challenge The Lucha Bros (Pentagon Jr. & Rey Fenix) to a match at the Jan 31st show.
Brian Cage pins PJ Black after a rapid succession of buckle bomb, F5, then sit out powerbomb combo. Scary moment in the match. There were some random leaks in the ceiling and at one point you could see a water droplet throw off Cage's vision/concentration as Black is attempting to leap from the top rope. Cage flinches and Black loses his balance landing right on top of his forehead. The match continued with Black seemingly fine but with a nice big red mark on his head.
Match 5 - Main Event SCU 6 Man Open Challenge: Watts gets on the mic and is upset about Scorpio Sky ditching Wakanda Vice for SCU. He accepts the open challenge to face SCU and his partners are Rocknes Monsters (Kevin BHK Martensen & Yuma). Watts plays monster heel during the match and attacks SCU. Lots of action and tags in and out for both teams to keep the match fast paced. You can tell Kazarian and Daniels are digging the hot crowd showing extra fire. At one point with Kazarian on the mat, YUMA yells (SC YUMA!) and hits Kaz with a hip/butt to the face. The fans start dueling "SC YUMA"/"SCU!" chants.
Watts try to hit Scorpio Sky with a chair. Joey Ryan runs in to help Scorpio and gets kicked by Watts. "Hangman" Adam Page runs in and goes after Watts. Joey Ryan gets a hold of Watts' hand and puts it on his crotch. Not to be outdone, Page comes over and puts Watts' other hand on his crotch. Double YP Plex. King of Dong Style and the Hangman shake hands. Yuma and BHK attack Page.
Cody & Brandi Rhodes come out to distract the heels. Cody is greeted rudely by RockNES and they go on the attack. Brandi hits a Bionic Spear on Yuma while Cody does a dive into the crowd while wearing his suit. Big Nasty Watts glares at Brandi when Matt & Nick Jackson arrive and help up referee Rick Knox who was bumped earlier in the match by Watts. Superkick Party ensues. Matt, Nick & Knox with a triple superkick to take out Watts
After the match, Cody says because Joey Ryan is signed to Lucha Underground thru 2038 he can't sign him, but what he can do is hire the entire crowd to work for AEW. He proclaims we all have jobs and he jumps into the crowd to do some body surfing. Brandi and Bucks explain money to Cody and make him lay us all off.
Scorpio Sky cuts promo about how there were "rumors that maybe SCU wasn't going to stick together with the new free agent landscape. SCU decided we were sticking together, we are friends, we are brothers, we're pretty much the 3 Musketeers"
Sky freezes as Matt Jackson appears and has his candy bar ready. Funny stuff continuing the running gag from Being The Elite.
Awesome fun tonight a great promotion. The fans chant "Bar Wrestling" and "Thank You Joey" instead of AEW or The Elite. "Ryan says no guys, don't thank me this was for you" and the show ends.
