WHY WWE TRADEMARKED 'WORLDS COLLIDE', NEW NAME HEADING TO 205 LIVE

By Mike Johnson on 2019-01-10 13:21:00

WWE announced this afternoon that they will hold the first-ever "Worlds Collide" tournament over the Royal Rumble AXXESS events with talents from WWE NXT, 205 Live and NXT UK all competing.  The idea is that fans attending will get to see cross-brand matches that they normally would not be able to see.   The tournament will be taped for a future WWE Network special.

WWE has announced the following competitors will be involved in the tournament:

Representing NXT: Adam Cole, The  Velveteen Dream, Dominik Dijakovic, Keith Lee, and Heavy Machiney's Otis Dozovic.

Representing NXT UK: Mark Andrews, Tyler Bate, Travis Banks, Jordan Devlin and Zack Gibson.

Representing 205 Live: Cedric Alexander, Humberto Carrillo (who has not debuted for the brand yet), Tony Nese, Drew Gulak and TJP.

As previously reported on PWInsider.com, WWE trademarked the "Worlds Collide" name on 1/3.

Carrillo, who's 205 Live debut was spoiled by the announcement, is the former Ultimo Ninja in Mexico.  There is an open challenge with Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy on next week's episode of 205 Live, so it could be that's where Carrillo will debut.

The first-ever Royal Rumble AXXESS is set for the Phoenix Convention Center from 1/25-1/27.
