BAUTISTA SIGNS ON FOR 'DUNE' FILM ADAPTATION, WHO HE IS EXPECTED TO PLAY AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2019-01-08 13:16:00

Deadline.com reported yesterday that Dave Bautista has signed on for a supporting role in the forthcoming feature film version of Dune, the classic science fiction novel.

The role has not been officially announced, but PWInsider.com has been told the Bautista will be playing Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, the leader of the Harkonnen, who once lorded over Dune.

The character (if they maintain it as it was presented from the original novel in this feature film adaptation) is a wealthy, slovenly warrior.

The role makes Bautista one of the top four characters in the film, which reunites him with Blade Runner 2049 director Denis Villeneuve.

Dune is tentatively slated to begin filming in March, which of course would be WrestleMania 35 season.    There was a Batista vs. Triple H tease at Smackdown 1000 a few months ago and Wrestlemania would be the place to do that, so we'll see if this has any ripple effect.

The plan is to try and launch Dune into a feature film franchise.
