WWE confirmed that John Cena is off this Friday's Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia in a segment backstage where Baron Corbin announced Bobby Lashley would be replacing him in the World Cup tournament. The storyline was that Corbin, the heel, was putting Lashley in as a sign of gratitude for Lashley beating down Finn Balor on Raw, claiming Cena had not actually qualified for the tournament.
Reports that Cena had pulled off the show began circulating last week. We had reported earlier today that Bobby Lashley was one of the candidates to replace him.
