Joe Galli of Championship Wrestling from Hollywood and Jim Cornette opened the show with Tony Schivaone, who will call the main event.

The Nashville Fairgrounds Arena looked to be sold out.

They aired interviews and promos for the first set of National title competitors.  There were audio issues.

Sam Shaw vs. Colt Cabana vs. Scorpio Sky vs. Sammy Guevara

Brian Hebner is the referee.

All four battled at the bell.  Cabana hit an Asai moonsault on Sky and Guevara.  Shaw pulled him to the floor, where they battled.  Sky and Guevara hit stereo dives to the floor.  They returned to the ring, where Guevara nailed a dropkick.  Shaw returned to the ring and battled with Guevera.  He caught him during a bodypress and nailed a fall away slam.  He did the same to Sky.  Cabana confronted him but was backed into the corner.  Cabana bit Shaw's finger and pulled his glove off, which led to a series of slaps with the glove to different competitors.  Everyone worked over Shaw in the corner.  He was nailed with superkicks and rolled to the floor.  Guevara and Sky nailed superkicks on Cabana.  Guevera hit a shooting star off the top to the floor on Shaw.

Back in the ring, Cabana worked over Sky.   Sky ducked under a clothesline and nailed a dive over the top to the floor on Guevara.   Cabana went to the top but was slammed off by Shaw and pinned as Shaw hooked the tights.

Colt Cabana has been eliminated.

Shaw battled with Sky and nailed an elevated slam.  He went to the outside, stalking Guevara.  Guevara avoided him and nailed a standing spanish fly on Sky.    He nailed Shaw but ate a shining wizard, pinning Guevara.

Guevara has been eliminated.

Shaw drilled Sky and rolled him up for the pin.

Your winner, advancing, Samuel Shaw!

Solid opener with some  nice highspots and a good flow.  Shaw winning has to be seen as an upset, but perhaps that's why the NWA did it.  Shaw has been the narrator on many episodes of Ten Pounds of Gold.

Jim Cornette and Joe Galli sent it to Jen Decker, interviewing Blue Demon Jr.  Instead we went to a shot of the entrance stage and stayed there.  Galli and Cornette realized it and began talking about the history of the business in Nashville before they finally got it together.  Decker asked Demon what it means to be here.  Demon said that he was proud to be the President of NWA in Mexico and has been proud to be here.  When asked who he predicted for the main event, he said he wanted to challenge the winner in Mexico.  Decker said it was a bold challenge.

They went back to the shot of the entrance ramp as Cornette spoke about more history.

Barrett Brown vs. Laredo Kid

They went back and forth.  Laredo hit a dive to the outside.  Brown hit a big DDT, driving Laredo Kid down on the top of his head.  He locked in a front facelock but Laredo Kid fought back.  He went for a move but Brown kicked him down in mid-air.  Laredo nailed several two chops and a 450 splash to the floor.

Laredo brought him back to the ring, where he was chopped down several times.  Barrett caught him out of nowhere with a reverse rana, which Cornette said was the stupidest move in wrestling.

Each man was exhausted but fought to their feet.  Brown nailed a leaping forearm to the face, followed by a low dropkick.    Laredo nailed a springboard cutter.  They battled back and forth until Barrett Brown scored the pin with a great leaping kick.

Your winner, Barrett Brown!

They worked really hard.

They went to video features on the National competitors in the second qualifying match.  Again, zero audio.  James Ellworth made a cameo during a promo Jay Bradley was giving,  The sound finally kicked in during the Bradley segment.

Ricky Starks came out and cut a live promo to Jim Cornette, explaining who he is.  He said he was absolute perfect and that no one can be him better than anyone.  He said he can't wait for anyone else to get things done right, so he's out here to get it done right.  They went to an '80s-inspired video for Starks, which was great.

Magnum TA was interviewed at ringside.  Magnum said he got the call and was asked if he wanted to be part of something history making,  They told him the NWA was setting a new standard and breaking new ground.  They were going to set a revolution the likes of which has never been seen.  He said hell yeah, he wants to be there.  He said the DNA of the NWA features names like himself, Harley Race, Dory Funk Jr., Dusty Rhodes and so many others.  Magnum said it was an honor and a special time for him to hand the winner of the National title match the championship belt.  In his mind, they will be the number one contender to the NWA title.  He got a big ovation when it was over.

Willie Mack vs. Jay Bradley vs. Mike Parrow vs. Ricky Starks

Parrow and Bradley attacked the others before turning on each other.  Parrow nailed a big sit-out powerbomb for a two count.    Starks shocked Parrow with a forward roll and hooked the tights, scoring the pin.

Parrow has been eliminated.

Mack attacked Starks and nailed a moonsault but Starks kicked up.  Bradley nailed Mack with a big elbow for a two count.  Starks returned to the fray but was slammed down by Bradley and nailed with another elbowdrop for a two count.  Bradley hit a big double underhook suplex.  He nailed a series of chops in the corner on Mack.  Starks ducked a clothesline and went for a high cross bodyblock but was caught and nailed with an over the shoulder powerslam.  Bradley climbed the ropes but Mack nailed him with several right hands and a headbutt to bring him back into the ring.  Starks slid in underneath and nailed a powerbomb.  Mack came off the top with a frog splash and pinned Bradley.

Bradley has been eliminated.

Starks nailed a kick to the head and speared Mack for a two count.  Mack came back to nail a kick and stunner for the pin.

Your winner, Willie Mack!

They worked hard and the crowd live really enjoyed this.

Mack was interviewed at ringside by Jen Decker.  Shaw showed up.  Mack said he was ready to face this 'crazy mofo" and he hoped Shaw was ready for him.  They faced off.  Bradley attacked Mack from behind.  Ellsworth made the save and checked on Mack.

They aired a history segment on Tim Storm vs. Peter Avalon.

Tim Storm vs. Pretty Peter Avalon with Niko Marquez

Avalon took the mic before the bout and said he is 2-0 against Tim Storm.  He told Storm that once the bell rings, he should just lay down because he's going to win a third time and then get himself a title shot.  He said that after he beats Storm, he wants all of the country bumpkins to kiss his foot.  Storm said that we learned Peter Avalon has a foot fetish.  He said that when he beats Avalon, Avalon is going to have to kiss his foot for him and all the people of Nashville.  Avalon accepted.

Avalon nailed a bunch of strikes and chops but it didn't really faze Storm, who took over in a test of strength and sent him into the ropes, nailing a big boot.  Storm nailed a big double underhook suplex for a two count.   Avalon was nailed with a kick and then drilled with a backbreaker.  Storm nailed a big lariat, sending Avalon inside out for another two count.  Storm began kicking Avalon.  Storm nailed a big powerbomb for a two count.

Storm backed Avalon into the corner and nailed a series of chops.  Storm nailed a running splash in the corner.  Storm nailed a boot to the face, wiping out Avalon.  Storm grabbed him but was caught with a jawbreaker.  Storm came back with a Samoan Drop, with Avalon scrambling to the floor after.  Niko Marquez checked on him.  Storm grabbed Niko, allowing Avalon to smash Storm into the ringpost.  Avalon came off the top and scored a two couint.  He went to the outside to grab a chair but it didn't work out for him.  Marquez grabbed Storm by the arms but Storm escaped and Avalon nailed his manager.

Storm hit his finisher, Perfect Storm, for the pin.

Your winner, Tim Storm!

Storm sat down in the chair and took off his boot for Avalon to kiss Storm's foot.    They announced that if Avalon didn't kiss the foot, he would be fined $10,000.  Avalon said a deal's a deal, and told Niko Marquez that as his manager, he represents Avalon and he's got this.  Marquez wasn't happy but did it.  They went to leave but Storm grabbed Avalon and forced him down to do it.  The crowd live enjoyed that.

The match was OK for what it was.  Everyone played their role well.
