(SPOILER) WHEN YOU CAN EXPECT REY MYSTERIO TO RETURN TO WWE

By Mike Johnson on 2018-10-02 08:52:00

Former WWE and WWE World Champion Rey Mysterio is currently slated to return to WWE at the Smackdown 1000 broadcast from Washington, DC, PWInsider.com has confirmed with multiple sources.

As PWInsider.com reported last month, Mysterio signed a two year contract with the company.  He had been trying to negotiate an 18-month contract, but WWE wanted a two year deal, finally getting it.  We have been told by sources, however, that Mysterio did work a clause into the deal that would allow him to give notice to the company that he was opting out of the deal at the 18 month mark.

Mysterio made a surprise return to the company at the 2018 Royal Rumble in Philadelphia, getting a massive reaction live.  Since then, he and WWE have worked towards negotiating an agreement to return, which included Mysterio working the Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia this past April.

Mysterio left WWE in 2015.  During his time away from the company, he made appearances for AAA in Mexico, Lucha Underground and New Japan Pro Wrestling, as well as independent appearances.  The first issue of his comic book series, part of the Luchaverse series released by Chido Comics in conjunction with Masked Republic came out this past summer.  Mysterio is also a big part of the promotional push for the WWE 2K19 video game, which will be released next week.

Mysterio finished up his independent commitments on 9/2 at an independent date for Warrior Wrestling in Chicago.
