IMPACT NEGOTIATING NEW DEAL WITH TOP ACT

By Mike Johnson on 2018-09-27 09:38:00

Impact Wrestling has opened discussions with their current Tag Team Champions LAX, Santana and Ortiz, seeking to negotiate a new deal with the team, who have been one of the most entertaining aspects of the company over the last year, in advance of their current deal expiring, PWInsider.com has learned.

Conversations between the two sides began while Impact was in Mexico City for TV several weekends ago and have continued, although they have yet to come to terms.  The team's contract is not imminently up PWInsider.com is told, but the promotion is seeking to lock them (and others, from what we are told) into longer-term deals.

Ortiz and Santana have been wrestling since 2012.  They first made their name as a tag team on the independent scene in the Northeast, specifically Beyond Wrestling.  While working under the team name EYFBO, their momentum made them one of the most booked and featured teams up and down the Northeast.

As LAX, they made their Impact debut in March 2017 after Homicide had pitched the team after the original plan to bring in a new version of LAX, featuring Dan Maff and Steve Mack, failed to come together as the company attempted to book the duo too late for them to get out of their real life responsibilities.

Since their debut, Santana and Ortiz have consistently been the centerpiece of the company's tag team division and have brought a good vibrancy and legitimacy to their segments and matches.

Teaming with Konnan, LAX are featured in one of the marquee matches for Impact's Bound for Glory PPV on Sunday 10/14 from their hometown of New York City as the trio face The OGZ & Eddie Kingston to blow off their feud.
