FAVORITE RING ANNOUNCERS, WHERE ARE TENAY & WEST, BORASH IN WWE AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2018-09-21 10:01:00

Where the hell has Mike Tenay been?

After departing Impact Wrestling (who, in my opinion, ended his run in the most unceremonious and unfortunate way), Tenay has distanced himself from professional wrestling is working on other endeavors in Las Vegas where he lives.  I don't blame him for wanting to be distant from the business.  He did a great job for Impact and deserved better than he received, in my opinion.

Why did Don West disappear from Impact again?

Don was never really back as an announcer as much as Jeff Jarrett brought him in to help utilize Don's skills to help liquidate what was in the Impact merchandise warehouse.  West was at Starrcast a few weeks ago and if the right opportunity was offered to him, I am sure he would consider it, but he's living in Washington State working for a hockey team there as an executive.

Why doesn't WWE use Jeremy Borash on screen?

He was on the recent WWE Network Mick Foley special, but he's not used on screen because he wasn't hired to be an on screen talent.  He was hired to work behind the scenes on the NXT brand, so he works those events and tapings.  I am sure if the company wanted him to do a cameo or announce, he'd be happy to do it.  He wore a million hats at once in TNA and would likely do the same if WWE asked him to do so.

Who are your all time top five ring announcers?

Howard Finkel is the greatest of all time, period.  I also love(d) Dr. Tom Miller, Bob Artese, Gary Michael Cappetta, Justin Roberts, Stephen DeAngelis and Joe McHugh.  Yes, I know that's seven but they all brought a different flavor to the pomp and circumstance of pro wrestling.

Do you ever see Taz going back to WWE?

You never say never, but he's working for CBS Sports Radio as a morning drive host five days a week and doing The Taz Show as well, so they would have to work around his schedule right now.   I wouldn't be shocked to see him return at some point, even if for a few appearances here and there (like he has done for Storytime and the ECW special awhile back) because he's local to their HQ and could easily travel to their studio in Stamford if needed.
