WWE SMACKDOWN REPORT: TELL US A STORY MR. SAMOA JOE, WE HAVE OPPONENTS FOR THE NEW DAY, AND MORE

By Richard Trionfo on 2018-09-11 21:58:00

Tonight's show starts off with a Moment of Silence and a bell salute to remember 9/11 attacks.

We are in Lafayette, Louisiana and your announcers are Corey Graves, Byron Saxton, and Tom Phillips.

Before our opening match, Jeff Hardy has something to say.

He says demons are all around us, tempting us and taunting us.  Tearing us apart at times.  Jeff says he has had many and he has conquered them all and he is before you a better man.  Demons will always be around and the only way to cleanse them is to deal with them head on.  Sunday he will face the most venomous.  He will face the viper inside Hell in a Cell.  Randy Orton may think he will inflict a load of pain on him, but Randy does not know what it is like to face someone who has dealt with his own hell.

Randy says he may be a demon but Jeff says he is a daredevil and he has no fear.  He will unleash a lifetime of torment and suffering on Randy Orton until he fades away and classifies himself as obsolete.

Jeff says tonight he deals with Shinsuke Nakamura and then he is going straight to hell . . . enjoy the show.

We go to the interview area where Miz and Maryse are with Kayla Braxton.  Miz asks for her to show his wife some respect since she is in the main event.  Maryse is asked about their match at Hell in a Cell as well as her first singles match in seven years.  Maryse asks if she is kidding.  It took Daniel Bryan three years to get back into the ring, but it only took her five months after giving birth so she is ready.  Maryse says she is going to make her husband proud and she will make her daughter proud to see her mommy punch Brie in the face.

Miz says that Brie and Daniel is a marriage of convenience.  How convenient is it since Brie had to come back to make some money.  Daniel can't fight his own battles so he has to bring Brie in.

We go to commercial.

We are back and we get comments from earlier today from WWE Champion AJ Styles about his match against Samoa Joe.

AJ says Samoa Joe knows his biggest weakness is his temper.  The quickest way to get him to lose his temper is to talk about his family.  He brought his wife and three year old daughter into this.  If Joe can attack his heart he can go after his head and get the advantage.  After nearly 20 years of friendship, he knows a lot about Samoa Joe.  Joe has a family but AJ says he would never mess with another man's family because he has integrity.  Joe's strength is running his mouth and intimidation.  Samoa Joe's strength is being a real piece of . . . garbage.  All of that strength that he has will be his weakness.

When this bell rings, no one has the upper hand on AJ Styles.  At Hell in a Cell, the talking stops, the intimidation ends.  At SummerSlam, Joe got a dose of what happens when you talk about his family.  Last week, he got another taste.  In five days, he will show Samoa Joe how phenomenal he is.  This is the house that AJ Styles built.  It isn't for rent and it isn't for sale.

We go to last week's interview with Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch.

Charlotte Flair is in the back and she is asked about her match tonight against Sonya Deville.  Charlotte says she asked for competition because she thrives on it.  Unlike Becky, she goes into the ring and does it instead of talking about it.  Charlotte says if there is one person to bet on, it is herself.  She says she hopes her former best friend is watching tonight.

We go to commercial.

We are back with a video package for the Universal Title match.
