ANOTHER NXT INJURY AND MORE LIVE NEWS & NOTES FROM WWE NXT TAKEOVER: BROOKLYN IV

By Mike Johnson on 2018-08-18 23:55:00

During the WWE NXT Takeover: Brooklyn media conference, Triple H noted that EC3 was "dinged up" in his match against the Velveteen Dream.  The way it was stated, it appeared to be a reference to EC3 suffering a concussion, but that hasn't been confirmed beyond what HHH stated.

Triple H also stated, as Dave Scherer noted in his recap of the HHH media conference, that Johnny Gargano may have suffered a dislocated kneecap during the main event and that led to a slight change in their technical plans in how the final few minutes of Takeover was going to go.  Live, the audience was silent with some booing when Gargano lost.

The official Takeover crowd was 14,676.  WWE announced it as a sellout.

Nothing of note took place after Takeover went off the air.  Gargano was helped to the back and that was it.

Stephanie McMahon and her daughters were sitting in the first row all night watching the show.

Hip hop star Wale was also in attendance at the event.

UFC fighter Travis Browne was there with Ronda Rousey.

Former WCW World Champion David Arquette was also in the house.

Before Takeover went on the air, WWE taped the following for this Wednesday's WWE NXT:

*WWE UK Champion Pete Dunne vs. Zack Gibson.

*Bianca Belair vs. Deonna Purrazzo.

Matt Riddle got a huge pop and a "Bro" chant before he was even seen on television.   He is signed and sealed.  Riddle looked to be super excited about being there.

For those who asked what the big pop in the middle of the Velveteen Dream vs. EC3 bout was, WWE had turned off the video screens above the ring at the start of that match.  Fans began chanting "Turn the screen on" and when WWE realized what the chant was and obliged, they got a huge pop.

In what was probably the oddest reason for an "ECW" chant in history, Brooklyn began chanting it after the ring mats on the floor outside the ring were pulled up during the Last Man Standing match.
