TO SOME IT’S STILL REAL TO THEM, LOTS OF WRESTLING ON TV, BRINGING BACK DIVAS AND MORE

I understand you keeping the email addresses of repeat offenders private, but what about giving us a first name, last initial and state of origin instead?  That way, when you get emails like the recent Kevin Dunn email, that are from people you have clearly been dealing with for a while, we will have a little bit of context.  The clown that insists on referring to Molly Holly as Nora Greenwald also comes to mind.

I will confer with Dewey, Cheatum and Howe about the legalities that go into such a practice.

Do you think that it's entirely possible that the WWE brings back the term "Diva" as well as possibly bringing back the butterfly belt should the WWE end brand extension?

No, I see no chance of that.  To their credit, WWE has transformed the way that they present women, now focusing on them as athletes.  I don’t see any way that they go back to the old stereotypes nor any reason that they show.

How is there such a big wrestling boom as of late? There is literally more wrestling on TV than ever before with more to come while NJPW, ROH and All In continuing to make waves, too. Yet, the ratings are nowhere near where they were during the WWE, WCW and ECW days. Is it a cheaper product to put on the air? I get that a live WWE is good for real-time viewing but everything else is taped. Don’t get me wrong, as a wrestling fan, I am very excited, but I’m curious as to Why now?

In some cases, Wrestling is cheaper, reliable programming.  In ROH’s case, they own the stations that they air on.  In New Japan’s, they fit in with what AXS does.  POP gets Impact at a good price.  In 2018, ratings on the whole are down due to the number of choices available and ways to consume digital content.  That makes any show that can draw an audience a good get for the right price.

Someone asked a question that suggested they think wrestling storylines are real. I get kids who might believe, but are there a lot of adults who believe it’s all real? I had a friend during the Attitude Era who’d get so upset when a wrestler would interfere in a match and yell at the ref for missing it and we’d laugh hysterically. We never wanted to clue him in because he honestly made the product more fun to watch.

I would hope not.  I certainly don’t encounter many people that think that they are watching a shoot.  Frankly, anyone that thinks that in this day and age scares me a little bit.

In seeing Nitro/Raw in the 90’s I was always in awe to see tv camera pan throughout the arena and it being sold out. For the past several last years, such shots do not occur and th seating area is dimmed, and when they do pan to the crowd its only half the arena. Is this because the other half is empty as was WCW shows towards the end of their run?

Yes, business definitely died down for WCW as the company wound down.  That is part of the reason that they couldn’t get a good buyer or TV slot when Turner decided to pull the plug.
